CBI ARRESTS TWO MEDICAL DEVICE OFFICERS OF CENTRAL DRUGS STANDARD CONTROL ORGANISATION IN A BRIBERY CASE OF RS. 3.50 LAKH AND RECOVERS OVER RS.25 LAKH (APPROX) CASH DURING SEARCHES


The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Medical Device Officer of Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), Ahmedabad and his Colleague (also a Medical Device Officer) in a bribery case of Rs.3.50 Lakh. A case was registered against the accused. It was alleged that the accused demanded undue advantage of Rs.3.50 lakh from the complainant (who is into manufacturing of orthopaedic implants) for showing him favour. It was further alleged that the inspection of Complainant’s unit was done in respect of issue of a medical device manufacturing license (MD-9) by the accused and his colleague, also a Medical Device Officer.
CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while accepting the said bribe.
Searches were conducted at the premises of both accused. A cash of Rs.13.90 lakh (approx) & some documents were recovered from the premises of accused and a cash of Rs. 11.40 lakh(approx) was recovered from the premises of his Colleague(also, a Medical Device Officer).
Both the arrested accused are being produced today before the Competent Court at Ahmedabad.
