In a powerful reaffirmation of India’s journey towards self-reliance in defence maintenance and technological innovation, the Maintenance Command Commanders’ Conclave of the Indian Air Force (IAF) was held at Vayusena Nagar, Nagpur, on 16 and 17 October 2025. The two-day conclave, presided over by Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, served as a strategic platform for senior commanders to deliberate on operational, maintenance, and logistics challenges while exploring indigenous pathways for capability enhancement and fleet sustainability.
The Conclave was graced by the presence of Air Marshal V.K. Garg, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C), Maintenance Command, who received the Chief of the Air Staff upon his arrival. The visit commenced with a ceremonial Guard of Honour accorded to the Air Chief, symbolizing the discipline, pride, and professional excellence of the Maintenance Command — the engineering backbone of the Indian Air Force.
Theme: Capability Enhancement through Indigenous Technological Development
Centred around the theme “Capability Enhancement through Indigenous Technological Development,” the conclave highlighted the Indian Air Force’s steadfast commitment to innovation, technological self-reliance, and the national vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India).
Over the course of the two-day event, senior commanders from across Maintenance Command’s extensive network engaged in detailed discussions, technical briefings, and interactive sessions designed to address emerging challenges in aircraft maintenance, system reliability, and life-extension studies. The deliberations also focused on the transformation of legacy systems, supply chain optimisation, and the adoption of new-age digital and automation tools for predictive maintenance.
The conclave functioned as a confluence of ideas and experience — bringing together the leadership of the IAF’s technical, logistics, and engineering branches to shape a unified roadmap for sustaining airpower readiness in the decades ahead.
Reducing Dependence on Foreign OEMs: A Strategic Imperative
During the sessions, the CAS was apprised of several ongoing initiatives by Maintenance Command aimed at reducing dependency on foreign Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). These initiatives include indigenous repair and overhaul capabilities, component-level fault diagnostics, development of alternate materials and parts, and collaborations with Indian defence industries and research organisations.
The focus remains on long-term life extension studies for critical platforms, enhanced reliability of support systems, and minimisation of aircraft downtime through digital integration of maintenance data. Such innovations not only strengthen operational readiness but also safeguard India’s strategic autonomy in defence preparedness.
Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh appreciated the progressive steps taken by the Maintenance Command and lauded the dedicated workforce for their technical ingenuity and resourcefulness. He noted that the Command’s commitment to developing indigenous maintenance solutions aligns perfectly with the broader national goal of technological sovereignty and resilience in defence production.
CAS Commends Personnel for Upholding IAF’s Operational Edge
Addressing the assembled commanders and officers, the Chief of the Air Staff commended the Maintenance Command for its unwavering role in ensuring operational readiness of the Indian Air Force. He highlighted that behind every successful air operation — whether in combat, humanitarian aid, or national disaster response — lies the silent but crucial contribution of maintenance teams who keep the fleet mission-ready around the clock.
“The Maintenance Command represents the core strength of our Air Force — the unsung engineers, technicians, logisticians, and planners who ensure that every aircraft that takes off is battle-ready and safe,” he said.
Air Chief Marshal Singh emphasised that the IAF’s technological transformation and operational success are deeply tied to the efficiency and reliability of its maintenance ecosystem. He urged all personnel to continue raising the bar in professionalism, safety, innovation, and procedural discipline, thereby upholding the Air Force’s legacy of excellence and trust.
Deliberations and Discussions: Shaping the Future of Maintenance Excellence
Throughout the conclave, in-depth discussions revolved around the modernisation of maintenance facilities, integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for predictive fault analysis, additive manufacturing (3D printing) for rapid component replacement, and real-time monitoring of mission-critical systems.
Commanders exchanged case studies on successful implementation of condition-based maintenance (CBM) techniques and shared innovations in the use of indigenous software for technical documentation, performance tracking, and automated maintenance scheduling.
The Conclave also explored ways to enhance synergy between Maintenance Command and frontline operational commands to ensure seamless support during high-tempo operations and joint exercises.
Air Marshal V.K. Garg, AOC-in-C, Maintenance Command, in his address, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to developing indigenous repair ecosystems and fostering collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), public sector undertakings, and the private industry. He underscored that Maintenance Command’s future strategy hinges on technological foresight, innovation-driven culture, and human capital development.
Aatmanirbhar Bharat: Building India’s Technological Backbone
The conclave strongly resonated with the Prime Minister’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat — self-reliant India. Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh reiterated that self-reliance in the field of maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) is not merely an economic necessity but a strategic imperative.

वायुसेना प्रमुख एयर चीफ मार्शल ए.पी. सिंह ने नागपुर में ‘मेंटेनेंस कमांड कमांडर्स कॉन्क्लेव’ की अध्यक्षता की — आत्मनिर्भर भारत की दिशा में तकनीकी नवाचार और स्वदेशीकरण पर केंद्रित विमर्श

भारतीय वायुसेना के अनुरक्षण (मेंटेनेंस) ढांचे को और अधिक मजबूत बनाने तथा तकनीकी आत्मनिर्भरता की दिशा में नए आयाम स्थापित करने के उद्देश्य से मेंटेनेंस कमांड कमांडर्स कॉन्क्लेव 2025 का आयोजन 16 और 17 अक्टूबर को नागपुर स्थित वायुसेना नगर में किया गया। इस दो दिवसीय कॉन्क्लेव की अध्यक्षता वायुसेना प्रमुख एयर चीफ मार्शल ए.पी. सिंह ने की। यह आयोजन भारतीय वायुसेना के तकनीकी, रसद और अनुरक्षण ढांचे के उच्च अधिकारियों के लिए एक रणनीतिक मंच के रूप में कार्य करता रहा, जहां वायुसेना की परिचालन तत्परता, रखरखाव, और दीर्घकालिक तकनीकी स्थिरता से जुड़े विषयों पर विस्तृत विचार-विमर्श हुआ।
कॉन्क्लेव के दौरान एयर मार्शल वी.के. गर्ग, एयर ऑफिसर कमांडिंग-इन-चीफ (AOC-in-C), मेंटेनेंस कमांड ने एयर चीफ मार्शल सिंह का स्वागत किया। आगमन पर वायुसेना प्रमुख को एक भव्य गार्ड ऑफ ऑनर दिया गया, जो अनुरक्षण कमान के अनुशासन, गर्व और उत्कृष्ट पेशेवर कौशल का प्रतीक था।
थीम: “स्वदेशी तकनीकी विकास के माध्यम से क्षमता संवर्धन”
इस वर्ष के कॉन्क्लेव का प्रमुख विषय “स्वदेशी तकनीकी विकास के माध्यम से क्षमता संवर्धन” रखा गया। इस विषय के तहत भारतीय वायुसेना द्वारा आत्मनिर्भर भारत के लक्ष्य की दिशा में उठाए जा रहे कदमों को रेखांकित किया गया।
दो दिवसीय इस कार्यक्रम में विभिन्न एयर कमांडरों और वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों ने विमानों के रखरखाव, लाइफ एक्सटेंशन स्टडीज, सिस्टम की विश्वसनीयता, और आपूर्ति श्रृंखला के आधुनिकीकरण पर अपने विचार साझा किए। कॉन्क्लेव में यह भी चर्चा हुई कि किस प्रकार डिजिटल इंटीग्रेशन, आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस (AI) और प्रीडिक्टिव मेंटेनेंस जैसी अत्याधुनिक तकनीकें वायुसेना की रखरखाव प्रणाली को और अधिक सक्षम बना सकती हैं।
कॉन्क्लेव ने एक ऐसे मंच के रूप में कार्य किया, जहां तकनीकी अनुभव, नवाचार और दृष्टिकोण का संगम हुआ — ताकि आने वाले वर्षों में भारतीय वायुसेना की तकनीकी आत्मनिर्भरता और युद्धक तैयारी को और भी सुदृढ़ बनाया जा सके।
विदेशी उपकरण निर्माताओं पर निर्भरता घटाने की दिशा में प्रयास
कॉन्क्लेव के दौरान एयर चीफ मार्शल सिंह को अनुरक्षण कमान की उन पहलों की जानकारी दी गई जो विदेशी मूल उपकरण निर्माताओं (OEMs) पर निर्भरता कम करने के उद्देश्य से की जा रही हैं। इन पहलों में इंडिजिनस रिपेयर और ओवरहॉल सुविधाएं विकसित करना, घटक-स्तरीय फॉल्ट डायग्नॉस्टिक्स, वैकल्पिक सामग्रियों का स्वदेशी उत्पादन और भारतीय रक्षा उद्योग एवं अनुसंधान संस्थानों के साथ साझेदारी जैसे पहलू शामिल हैं।
इन परियोजनाओं का उद्देश्य वायुसेना की स्वयं की तकनीकी क्षमता को बढ़ाना है ताकि न केवल परिचालन तत्परता बनी रहे, बल्कि किसी भी आपात स्थिति में स्वदेशी समाधान ही तत्काल उपयोग में लाए जा सकें। इससे भारत की रणनीतिक स्वायत्तता और रक्षा-संबंधी स्वतंत्रता में भी उल्लेखनीय बढ़ोतरी होगी।
एयर चीफ मार्शल ए.पी. सिंह ने इन पहलों की सराहना करते हुए कहा कि अनुरक्षण कमान का यह प्रयास “आत्मनिर्भर भारत” की अवधारणा को व्यवहारिक धरातल पर उतारने की दिशा में एक मील का पत्थर साबित होगा। उन्होंने मेंटेनेंस कमांड के अधिकारियों और कर्मियों की तकनीकी दक्षता, प्रतिबद्धता और नवाचार की भावना की विशेष प्रशंसा की।
वायुसेना प्रमुख का संबोधन: तकनीकी उत्कृष्टता और पेशेवर अनुशासन पर जोर
कॉन्क्लेव को संबोधित करते हुए एयर चीफ मार्शल ए.पी. सिंह ने कहा कि भारतीय वायुसेना की परिचालन सफलता के पीछे मेंटेनेंस कमांड की निष्ठा और अदृश्य मेहनत का गहरा योगदान है।
उन्होंने कहा,
“प्रत्येक उड़ान के पीछे अनगिनत तकनीशियनों, इंजीनियरों और लॉजिस्टिक कर्मियों का परिश्रम छिपा होता है, जो सुनिश्चित करते हैं कि हमारा हर विमान मिशन-रेडी और सुरक्षित हो।”
एयर चीफ ने कहा कि वायुसेना की परिचालन क्षमता और युद्धक शक्ति का वास्तविक आधार उसका मेंटेनेंस नेटवर्क है। उन्होंने सभी कर्मियों से आग्रह किया कि वे पेशेवर उत्कृष्टता, सुरक्षा और दक्षता के उच्चतम मानकों को बनाए रखें, ताकि भारतीय वायुसेना की “राष्ट्र के आकाश की सुरक्षा” की प्रतिबद्धता और भी दृढ़ हो सके।
कॉन्क्लेव में विमर्श और भविष्य की दिशा
दो दिवसीय कॉन्क्लेव के दौरान विभिन्न सत्रों में आधुनिक मेंटेनेंस तकनीकों, एआई आधारित फॉल्ट एनालिसिस, 3D प्रिंटिंग के माध्यम से स्पेयर पार्ट्स निर्माण, और डिजिटल मेंटेनेंस मैनेजमेंट सिस्टम्स पर विस्तृत चर्चा हुई।
कमांडरों ने अपने-अपने अनुभव साझा करते हुए कंडीशन-बेस्ड मेंटेनेंस (CBM) और इंडिजिनस सॉफ्टवेयर इंटीग्रेशन के सफल उदाहरण प्रस्तुत किए। यह भी चर्चा हुई कि मेंटेनेंस कमांड और अग्रिम परिचालन कमांड्स के बीच और अधिक समन्वय स्थापित कर संयुक्त अभियानों में तकनीकी सहायता को सशक्त बनाया जा सकता है।
एयर मार्शल वी.के. गर्ग ने अपने संबोधन में कहा कि मेंटेनेंस कमांड का लक्ष्य केवल उपकरणों की मरम्मत तक सीमित नहीं है, बल्कि यह भारतीय वायुसेना को तकनीकी रूप से आत्मनिर्भर बनाने का एक दीर्घकालिक मिशन है। उन्होंने कहा कि रक्षा अनुसंधान एवं विकास संगठन (DRDO), सार्वजनिक उपक्रमों और निजी उद्योगों के साथ साझेदारी ही भविष्य की तकनीकी प्रगति का आधार बनेगी।
आत्मनिर्भर भारत की दिशा में ठोस कदम
एयर चीफ मार्शल ए.पी. सिंह ने अपने संबोधन में कहा कि मेंटेनेंस, रिपेयर और ओवरहॉल (MRO) में आत्मनिर्भरता केवल आर्थिक दृष्टि से नहीं बल्कि रणनीतिक दृष्टिकोण से भी आवश्यक है। उन्होंने कहा कि भारत को ऐसी वायुसेना चाहिए जो स्वयं अपनी तकनीक विकसित करे, उसे बनाए रखे और निरंतर उन्नत करे।
उन्होंने कहा —
“हमारे हैंगरों और कार्यशालाओं में जन्म लेने वाला हर नवाचार भारत के आकाश को भारतीय तकनीक से सुरक्षित करता है।”
उन्होंने यह भी जोड़ा कि आने वाले वर्षों में भारतीय वायुसेना न केवल आत्मनिर्भरता हासिल करेगी, बल्कि रक्षा निर्यात और अंतरराष्ट्रीय तकनीकी साझेदारी के क्षेत्र में भी अपनी पहचान स्थापित करेगी।
गार्ड ऑफ ऑनर: अनुशासन और गौरव का प्रतीक
वायुसेना प्रमुख के आगमन पर दिया गया गार्ड ऑफ ऑनर अनुरक्षण कमान की उत्कृष्टता का सजीव उदाहरण था। इस अवसर पर वायुसेना कर्मियों की शानदार परेड, अनुशासित चाल और सटीक प्रस्तुति ने भारतीय वायुसेना की “प्रोफेशनल प्रिसीजन” को प्रदर्शित किया।

कॉन्क्लेव का समापन एक साझा संकल्प के साथ हुआ — भारतीय वायुसेना की तकनीकी आत्मनिर्भरता को मजबूत करना, नवाचार को प्रोत्साहित करना और राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा के लिए सदैव मिशन-रेडी रहना।
