Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti Celebrates Diwali with Bravehearts at Siachen Glacier — A Testament to the Spirit of Service, Sacrifice, and Soldiering

In a powerful gesture symbolising solidarity, gratitude, and national pride, Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti, the Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (DCAS), visited the world’s highest battlefield — the Siachen Glacier — to celebrate Diwali with the gallant men and women of the Indian Armed Forces stationed in this unforgiving terrain. The visit underscored the Indian Air Force’s commitment to stand shoulder to shoulder with its troops, especially in the most challenging operational sectors of the country.
Braving sub-zero temperatures and thin oxygen levels at altitudes exceeding 18,000 feet, Air Marshal Bharti reached the forward posts and interacted extensively with the personnel deployed under extremely harsh conditions. His visit not only brought festive cheer to the troops but also served as a morale booster for those guarding the nation’s icy frontiers amid ongoing security challenges along India’s northern borders.
A Festival of Light in the Land of Ice
At a place where temperatures often plunge below -40°C and where every logistical operation requires precision, courage, and coordination, the celebration of Diwali carries profound emotional significance. Air Marshal Bharti’s presence in Siachen — often referred to as the “Frozen Frontier” — transformed the otherwise stark, snow-clad silence into a moment of warmth and unity.
The senior Air Force officer was received by local commanders and was briefed on the operational preparedness, logistical supply mechanisms, and joint coordination efforts between the Indian Air Force and the Indian Army. The IAF plays a crucial role in air maintenance operations in this sector, ensuring the continuous supply of essential rations, ammunition, medical support, and equipment to troops stationed across the Siachen heights.

During his tour, Air Marshal Bharti also visited Terchey village near Thoise, a small but significant settlement in the region known for its enduring support to the armed forces. The Siachen Glacier, located in the eastern Karakoram range, stands as a living symbol of India’s military endurance and national will. Since the launch of Operation Meghdoot in 1984, the glacier has been manned by Indian troops to safeguard the country’s northernmost boundaries. कठोर बर्फीली हवाओं, हिमशीत तापमान और दुर्गम पहाड़ियों के बीच जब देशवासी घरों में दीपावली के दीप प्रज्वलित कर रहे थे, उसी समय वायुसेना के उपप्रमुख एयर मार्शल अवधेश कुमार भारती ने देश के वीर सैनिकों के साथ विश्व के सबसे ऊँचे रणक्षेत्र सियाचिन ग्लेशियर पर दीपावली मनाकर यह संदेश दिया कि राष्ट्र के रक्षक कभी त्योहारों से दूर नहीं होते — वे ही हर दीपक की असली लौ हैं।
एयर मार्शल भारती का यह दौरा केवल एक औपचारिक सैन्य कार्यक्रम नहीं, बल्कि एक भावनात्मक और राष्ट्रीय एकजुटता का प्रतीक था। उन्होंने वहां तैनात भारतीय थल सेना और वायुसेना के जवानों के साथ समय बिताया, उनसे संवाद किया, और उनके परिवारों के लिए दीपावली की शुभकामनाएं प्रेषित कीं। इस दौरान उन्होंने उन सैनिकों के हौसले की सराहना की, जो हिमखंडों के बीच देश की सीमाओं की सुरक्षा में दिन-रात जुटे हुए हैं।

सियाचिन, जिसे “फ्रोज़न फ्रंटियर” कहा जाता है, वह स्थान है जहाँ तापमान अक्सर माइनस 40 डिग्री सेल्सियस तक गिर जाता है और हवा में ऑक्सीजन का स्तर बेहद कम होता है। ऐसे स्थान पर दीपावली का पर्व मनाना केवल परंपरा नहीं, बल्कि देशभक्ति और अदम्य जज़्बे का उत्सव है।
एयर मार्शल भारती ने अग्रिम चौकियों पर जाकर सैनिकों से मुलाकात की, उनके साथ दीप जलाए और उन्हें आश्वस्त किया कि देश की हर सांस उनके पराक्रम का ऋणी है। स्थानीय सैन्य अधिकारियों ने उन्हें ऑपरेशनल तैयारियों, रसद आपूर्ति प्रणाली और थल-वायु समन्वय के बारे में जानकारी दी।
वायुसेना उपप्रमुख ने इस मौके पर कहा, “सियाचिन की जीवनरेखा केवल बर्फ़ीले रास्ते नहीं हैं, बल्कि वे बहादुर दिल हैं जो यहां डटे हुए हैं। हर एयरड्रॉप, हर हेलीकॉप्टर मिशन हमारे सैनिकों के अदम्य साहस का प्रतीक है।”
जवानों का उत्साह, अफसरों का गौरव
सैनिकों से बातचीत के दौरान एयर मार्शल भारती ने कहा, “आपके साहस और त्याग की वजह से करोड़ों भारतीय घरों में दीपावली मनाते हैं। हर घर की रोशनी में आपकी वीरता झलकती है।”
उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि थल सेना और वायुसेना के बीच तालमेल भारत की सामरिक शक्ति का सबसे बड़ा आधार है। हाल के दिनों में हुई सफल ऑपरेशनों और संयुक्त अभ्यासों का जिक्र करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि दोनों सेनाओं का समन्वय न केवल सीमा की सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करता है, बल्कि यह दुश्मन को स्पष्ट संदेश देता है कि भारत हर चुनौती का सामना करने में सक्षम है।
जवानों के साथ एक आत्मीय संवाद में उन्होंने उनके सुझाव सुने, उनके परिवारों के हाल-चाल पूछे और उन्हें यह भरोसा दिलाया कि वायुसेना हमेशा उनके साथ खड़ी है — न केवल आसमान में बल्कि हर मुश्किल घड़ी में।
थोइस के पास तर्चे गांव में स्थानीयों संग दीपावली
सियाचिन के कठिन इलाकों के बीच एयर मार्शल भारती ने थोइस के निकट तर्चे गांव का भी दौरा किया। यह गांव सीमावर्ती जीवन और सैनिक सहयोग का प्रतीक माना जाता है। उन्होंने वहां के ग्रामीणों, स्कूल के बच्चों और बुजुर्गों से भेंट की, उन्हें दीपावली की शुभकामनाएं दीं और उनके सहयोग के लिए आभार व्यक्त किया।
एयर मार्शल ने कहा, “आप लोग इस सीमावर्ती क्षेत्र में रहकर देश की सेवा का हिस्सा हैं। आपकी दृढ़ता और समर्पण हमारे सैनिकों के मनोबल को और मजबूत करते हैं।”
उन्होंने यह भी भरोसा दिलाया कि सरकार और सशस्त्र बल सीमावर्ती गांवों के विकास, कनेक्टिविटी और शिक्षा पर लगातार ध्यान दे रहे हैं, ताकि लद्दाख और उसके आसपास के क्षेत्र और अधिक सशक्त बन सकें।
सियाचिन: साहस, रणनीति और राष्ट्रीय गौरव का प्रतीक
सियाचिन ग्लेशियर, पूर्वी काराकोरम की ऊँचाई पर स्थित वह रणभूमि है जिसने चार दशकों से भी अधिक समय से भारतीय सैनिकों की बहादुरी को अमर बना दिया है। ऑपरेशन मेघदूत (1984) के बाद से यहां भारतीय सेना लगातार तैनात है। इस क्षेत्र की सुरक्षा केवल सैनिकों के पराक्रम पर ही नहीं, बल्कि भारतीय वायुसेना की असाधारण लॉजिस्टिक क्षमता पर भी निर्भर है।
हेलीकॉप्टरों जैसे चीता, चीताल, चिनूक और C-130J सुपर हरक्यूलिस ने हजारों बार इन बर्फीली चोटियों पर उड़ान भरकर आवश्यक रसद, दवाएं, उपकरण और भोजन पहुँचाया है। एयर मार्शल भारती का यह दौरा उन सभी अनदेखे नायकों के प्रति श्रद्धांजलि था जो प्रतिदिन इस कठिन मिशन को पूरा करते हैं — बिना शोर, बिना प्रचार, केवल राष्ट्र के लिए।
सीमा से राष्ट्र तक एकता का संदेश
जहाँ देशभर में दीपावली पटाखों, मिठाइयों और रोशनी से जगमगा रही थी, वहीं सियाचिन में वह रोशनी जवानों की आंखों में थी — कर्तव्य की रोशनी, त्याग की रोशनी। एयर मार्शल भारती का वहां पहुँचना इस बात का प्रमाण था कि राष्ट्र के उत्सव की असली आत्मा उन्हीं में बसती है जो हर मौसम, हर चुनौती में सीमाओं की रक्षा करते हैं।
उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि भारतीय वायुसेना केवल आकाश की शक्ति नहीं, बल्कि राष्ट्र की आत्मा का प्रहरी है — जो न केवल सीमा की रक्षा करती है बल्कि सैनिकों के मनोबल को भी ऊँचा रखती है।
बर्फ में जले दीप, दिलों में जगा गर्व
सूर्यास्त के बाद जब सियाचिन की चोटियों पर अंधेरा गहराने लगा, तब सैनिकों ने बर्फ के बीच दीप जलाए। वह दृश्य केवल एक पर्व नहीं, बल्कि भारत के जज़्बे का प्रतीक था — जहाँ ठंड के बीच भी दिलों में गर्मजोशी और देशभक्ति की आग जलती है।
जवानों के चेहरों पर मुस्कान थी, उनके मन में गर्व था और उनकी आंखों में यह विश्वास कि देश उन्हें कभी नहीं भूलता। एयर मार्शल भारती की यह यात्रा इसी विश्वास को फिर से मजबूत कर गई।
संदेश स्पष्ट था — त्योहार की सच्ची रोशनी वही है जो सीमा पर जलती है।
