CBI Files FIR Against Conman Impersonating PMO Official in Fraudulent Calls Scam

The CBI has registered an FIR against a person impersonating an Assistant Commissioner of the PMO and making fraudulent calls to unsuspecting individuals promising employment in exchange for payment. The accused even registered themselves on Truecaller as a PMO official.

Conman impersonates PMO Official, commits fraud

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against an imposter who pretended to be an Assistant Commissioner stationed at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Saturday. He was allegedly targeting unsuspecting individuals with fraudulent calls.

In December 2022, the CBI received a complaint about this fraudulent activity. During their investigation, the agency uncovered two additional victims who had also received calls from fake PMO official.

The accused even registered themselves as a PMO official using Truecaller, further deceiving their targets.

A senior CBI official disclosed that the original complaint was lodged on December 12, 2022, by Anil Kumar Sharma. He reported that a mobile number, 70913-63733, displayed as ‘PMO Office Delhi’ on Truecaller, was being used for these fraudulent calls.

The accused approached Satinder Kumar, promising him employment in exchange for payment.

Additionally, the CBI discovered that Mohar Singh, a resident of Rajasthan, received a call from an individual pretending to be Dr. Prasad P, an Assistant Commissioner at the PMO.

Similarly, Sheshnath Srivastava, residing in Faridabad, experienced similar incid0ents involving alleged calls from the PMO.

Based on a preliminary inquiry, the CBI has registered an FIR under sections 170, and 511, read with section 420 of the IPC.

The investigation into this matter is currently underway.
