CISF to Induct First-Ever All-Women Commando Team: A Landmark in India’s Security and Gender Empowerment
In a historic move towards gender inclusivity and operational modernization, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has announced the induction of its first-ever All-Women Commando Team into core operations. This groundbreaking initiative marks a significant leap forward for women in India’s paramilitary forces, especially in specialized combat and high-risk security roles that were once considered the exclusive domain of men.
The training for these women warriors is already underway at the CISF Regional Training Centre (RTC) in Barwaha, Madhya Pradesh. A rigorous 8-week advanced commando course has been designed to sharpen their skills, enabling them to take on the most critical security responsibilities. These women commandos will be deployed in Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) and Special Task Forces (STFs), operating at some of the nation’s most sensitive and high-security establishments, including atomic power plants, space centers, defence production units, and strategic industrial hubs.
A Shift in Security Paradigm
Traditionally, the CISF has been known for guarding vital installations ranging from airports, nuclear plants, metro rail networks, and major industries to government facilities. The induction of an all-women commando team signals a paradigm shift, integrating the concept of Nari Shakti (Women Power) into frontline security duties. This step is not only about enhancing the operational depth of the force but also about projecting India’s commitment towards women’s empowerment within the defence and security ecosystem.
Training Regime and Expectations
The training at RTC Barwaha includes an exhaustive mix of physical endurance, close combat techniques, unarmed combat, weapons handling, counter-terrorism drills, and simulated high-risk operational scenarios. The women commandos are being trained to respond swiftly to terror strikes, hostage situations, and sabotage attempts inside sensitive installations. Their QRT duties will focus on immediate response within seconds of a security breach, while STF assignments will prepare them for pre-emptive and sustained counter-operations.
Senior CISF officials emphasize that these commandos will be at par with their male counterparts in operational efficiency. In fact, the induction is being viewed as a morale booster across the force, especially for young women recruits who now see a clear path towards joining the elite ranks of CISF’s combat units.
Symbol of Women Empowerment in Uniform
The decision comes at a time when women are increasingly making their presence felt across the armed forces and paramilitary organizations. From the induction of women fighter pilots in the Indian Air Force to women soldiers being deployed on the Line of Control (LoC) with the Indian Army, India’s security landscape is undergoing a steady transformation.
For CISF, which secures some of the most critical industrial assets of the nation, women commandos will represent both resilience and inclusivity. They are set to become role models for future generations, symbolizing that gender is no barrier when it comes to courage, discipline, and service to the nation.
A Step Towards Gender Balance in Forces
Experts believe that such initiatives not only improve the operational capacity of forces but also build a social narrative where women’s contribution to national security is recognized and celebrated. The timing is also significant, as India continues to expand its industrial security framework with a focus on counter-terror preparedness in an era of evolving asymmetric threats.
The CISF’s all-women commando team is expected to take charge at select high-security locations by the end of the year, once the training concludes. Their presence will add a new dimension to India’s security strategy, making it more dynamic, inclusive, and prepared for the challenges of the future.

सीआईएसएफ में पहली बार ‘ऑल-वूमन कमांडो टीम’: औद्योगिक सुरक्षा में नारी शक्ति का नया अध्याय
भारत की सुरक्षा व्यवस्था और महिला सशक्तिकरण के इतिहास में एक नया अध्याय जुड़ने जा रहा है। केंद्रीय औद्योगिक सुरक्षा बल (CISF) ने घोषणा की है कि वह अपनी पहली ‘ऑल-वूमन कमांडो टीम’ को कोर ऑपरेशन्स में शामिल करने जा रहा है। यह कदम न केवल सुरक्षा के दृष्टिकोण से महत्वपूर्ण है, बल्कि यह भारतीय पैरामिलिट्री बलों में महिलाओं की बढ़ती भूमिका को भी दर्शाता है।
इस ऐतिहासिक टीम का प्रशिक्षण मध्यप्रदेश के बड़वाह स्थित रीजनल ट्रेनिंग सेंटर (RTC) में शुरू हो चुका है। महिलाओं को 8-सप्ताह के एडवांस्ड कमांडो कोर्स से गुजारा जाएगा, जिसमें उन्हें तेज़ प्रतिक्रिया टीम (QRT) और विशेष टास्क फोर्स (STF) की ज़िम्मेदारियों के लिए तैयार किया जाएगा। ये महिला कमांडो देश के परमाणु संयंत्रों, अंतरिक्ष केंद्रों, रक्षा उत्पादन इकाइयों और अन्य अति-संवेदनशील औद्योगिक प्रतिष्ठानों में तैनात होंगी।
नारी शक्ति का सुरक्षा में प्रवेश
सीआईएसएफ देश के हवाईअड्डों, परमाणु संयंत्रों, मेट्रो नेटवर्क और बड़े औद्योगिक प्रतिष्ठानों की सुरक्षा के लिए जानी जाती है। अब जब महिला कमांडो को इसमें शामिल किया जा रहा है, तो यह नारी शक्ति को सुरक्षा व्यवस्था के अग्रिम मोर्चे पर लाने की दिशा में एक ऐतिहासिक कदम है। यह कदम दर्शाता है कि अब साहस, अनुशासन और देश सेवा के क्षेत्र में लिंग कोई बाधा नहीं है।
कठोर प्रशिक्षण और नई जिम्मेदारियां
बड़वाह प्रशिक्षण केंद्र में इन महिला कमांडो को शारीरिक सहनशक्ति, हथियार संचालन, क्लोज-कॉम्बैट, आतंकवाद-रोधी अभ्यास और उच्च जोखिम वाले हालात से निपटने की गहन ट्रेनिंग दी जा रही है। उन्हें इस प्रकार प्रशिक्षित किया जा रहा है कि वे किसी भी आतंकी हमले, बंधक संकट या औद्योगिक प्रतिष्ठानों पर तोड़फोड़ की घटना पर तुरंत कार्रवाई कर सकें।
महिलाओं की बढ़ती भूमिका
भारतीय वायुसेना में महिला फाइटर पायलट्स की नियुक्ति और भारतीय सेना में नियंत्रण रेखा (LoC) पर महिला सैनिकों की तैनाती के बाद अब सीआईएसएफ की महिला कमांडो टीम भी महिला सशक्तिकरण की नई मिसाल बनेगी। ये कमांडो आने वाली पीढ़ियों के लिए प्रेरणा बनेंगी।
समाज और सुरक्षा में बदलाव का प्रतीक
विशेषज्ञों का मानना है कि सुरक्षा बलों में महिलाओं की बढ़ती भूमिका केवल क्षमता बढ़ाने तक सीमित नहीं है, बल्कि यह समाज में भी सकारात्मक संदेश देती है। यह बताती है कि अब राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा की जिम्मेदारी पुरुष और महिलाएं मिलकर साझा कर रहे हैं।
प्रशिक्षण पूरा होने के बाद, यह ‘ऑल-वूमन कमांडो टीम’ साल के अंत तक विभिन्न उच्च सुरक्षा प्रतिष्ठानों पर तैनात कर दी जाएगी। इससे न केवल सीआईएसएफ की ताकत बढ़ेगी, बल्कि भारत की सुरक्षा व्यवस्था और अधिक गतिशील और समावेशी बनेगी।
