Costly Education is a Curse for the Poor, RPI Will Ensure Justice for Riya: Pawan Bhai Gupta

A tribute meeting was held at the Uttar Pradesh office of the Republican Party of India (Athawale) in memory of Riya, a student from Pratapgarh who died by suicide due to the burden of expensive education. Party leaders expressed their condolences to her family and resolved to launch a statewide movement against costly education and ensure justice for Riya.
RPI State President Pawan Bhai Gupta stated that expensive education is crushing the self-respect of the poor. He added that many are silently suffering under societal pressure and financial burdens. “Riya, a daughter of Pratapgarh, will never return to school again because her dignity was trampled upon by the school authorities, forcing her to end her life,” he said.
Pawan Bhai highlighted that Riya Prajapati, a student of Class 9 at Kamla Sharan Yadav Inter College, was barred from taking her examination due to unpaid school fees and was humiliated in front of others. “Is this the education system we are proud of, where a poor child is denied the right to education? We talk about a trillion-dollar economy, yet on the ground, children are dying due to an inability to pay school fees,” he said.
He criticized private schools for turning education into a business and said the pressure of expensive fees, uniforms, and books is deeply affecting underprivileged families. “Riya is no longer with us, but many other children are still suffering silently. Who is responsible for her death? A corrupt and insensitive system,” he asserted.
Pawan Bhai Gupta announced that RPI will lead a massive campaign across Uttar Pradesh against the commercialization of education. He advocated for free and equal education for all, stating, “If the government can waive loans worth thousands of crores for corporates, then it can certainly spend the same amount to ensure education is free for the poor.”
He also pointed out that although the police arrested the principal after Riya’s suicide, strict action must also be taken against the school management who create such toxic environments. “RPI will fight until Riya gets justice,” he declared.
The condolence meet was also attended by RPI’s Women Wing Acting State President Shanu Mall Kaushal, State Vice President Ruchi Shukla, and other women office bearers.

रिपब्लिकन पार्टी ऑफ इंडिया (आठवले) के उत्तर प्रदेश कार्यालय में प्रतापगढ़ की छात्रा रिया की आत्महत्या को लेकर श्रद्धांजलि सभा आयोजित की गई। रिया को महंगी शिक्षा के कारण आत्महत्या करनी पड़ी थी। इस अवसर पर पार्टी नेताओं ने उनके परिजनों के प्रति शोक संवेदना व्यक्त की और पूरे प्रदेश में महंगी शिक्षा के खिलाफ आंदोलन छेड़ने का संकल्प लिया।
प्रदेश अध्यक्ष पवन भाई गुप्ता ने कहा कि महंगी शिक्षा गरीबों के आत्मसम्मान को रौंद रही है। लोग समाज में इज्जत जाने के डर से घुट रहे हैं, मर रहे हैं। प्रतापगढ़ की बेटी रिया अब कभी स्कूल नहीं जाएगी, क्योंकि स्कूल प्रशासन ने उसके आत्मसम्मान को कुचल दिया, जिसके कारण उसने आत्महत्या जैसा कदम उठाया।
उन्होंने बताया कि रिया प्रजापति, जो कमला शरण यादव इंटर कॉलेज, प्रतापगढ़ की 9वीं कक्षा की छात्रा थी, को बकाया फीस के चलते परीक्षा से बाहर कर दिया गया और उसे अपमानित किया गया। उन्होंने सवाल उठाया कि क्या यही हमारी शिक्षा नीति है, जहाँ गरीब बच्चों को पढ़ाई का भी अधिकार नहीं है? “हम ट्रिलियन डॉलर इकोनॉमी की बात करते हैं लेकिन जमीनी हकीकत ये है कि गरीब बच्चे फीस नहीं भर पाने के कारण आत्महत्या कर रहे हैं।”
पवन भाई गुप्ता ने प्राइवेट स्कूलों पर निशाना साधते हुए कहा कि उन्होंने शिक्षा को व्यवसाय बना दिया है। फीस, यूनिफॉर्म और किताबों के नाम पर जो लूट हो रही है, वह गरीबों की रीढ़ तोड़ रही है। “रिया तो चली गई लेकिन हजारों रिया आज भी इसी पीड़ा से जूझ रहे हैं। इस मौत की जिम्मेदार घटिया व्यवस्था है।”
उन्होंने ऐलान किया कि आरपीआई, महंगी शिक्षा के खिलाफ उत्तर प्रदेश में व्यापक आंदोलन करेगी और निशुल्क, समान शिक्षा के लिए प्रदेशभर में जनजागरूकता अभियान चलाएगी। “अगर पूंजीपतियों के हजारों करोड़ रुपये माफ हो सकते हैं तो उतने ही रुपये गरीबों की शिक्षा पर खर्च कर उन्हें निशुल्क शिक्षा दी जा सकती है।”
पवन भाई गुप्ता ने यह भी कहा कि रिया की मौत के बाद भले ही प्रधानाचार्य को जेल भेजा गया हो, लेकिन स्कूल प्रबंधन के खिलाफ भी कठोर कार्रवाई होनी चाहिए। “आरपीआई रिया को न्याय दिलाकर ही दम लेगी।”
श्रद्धांजलि सभा में आरपीआई महिला मोर्चा की कार्यकारी प्रदेश अध्यक्ष शानू मल्ल कौशल, प्रदेश उपाध्यक्ष रुचि शुक्ला सहित कई महिला पदाधिकारी उपस्थित रहीं।
