A Grand Demonstration of India’s Aerial Might in the Desert Theatre
The conducted Exercise VAYUSHAKTI-26 at the strategically significant , transforming the vast desert expanse of western Rajasthan into a simulated high-intensity combat zone. The exercise stood as a comprehensive demonstration of the IAF’s combat readiness, operational synergy, and technological edge across the entire spectrum of air operations. Designed to reflect contemporary and future battlefield scenarios, VAYUSHAKTI-26 reaffirmed the Indian Air Force’s capability to project decisive air power in both conventional and non-conventional roles.
President of India Witnesses Firepower Display, Underscoring National Resolve
The Fire Power Demonstration was graced by the Hon’ble President of India, , as the Chief Guest, lending the highest constitutional endorsement to the exercise. She was accompanied by an array of distinguished dignitaries including the Governor of Rajasthan Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh, Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Rajasthan’s Minister of Food and Civil Supplies Sumit Godara, Chief Information Commissioner Raj Kumar Goyal, Cabinet Secretary Dr. T.V. Somanathan, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Commanders-in-Chief of the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy, senior officers from the three Services, officials from the Centre and State Governments, representatives of DPSUs, former Air Chiefs, veterans, defence attaches from friendly foreign nations, as well as Indian and international media and school children. Their presence reflected the national and global significance of the exercise.
President’s Sortie in LCH Prachand Highlights Atmanirbhar Bharat
Earlier in the day, the Hon’ble President undertook a sortie in the indigenously developed Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) Prachand, a defining moment that symbolised India’s growing self-reliance in defence manufacturing. This flight served as a powerful endorsement of the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, showcasing how indigenous platforms are now central to India’s frontline combat capability. The LCH Prachand, optimised for high-altitude and desert warfare, stood out as a force multiplier tailored for India’s unique operational environments.
A First-of-Its-Kind Operational Storyline-Based Combat Simulation
For the first time, Exercise VAYUSHAKTI was executed along a clearly defined operational storyline, effectively converting the event into a simulated live combat theatre. This narrative-driven approach allowed for seamless progression from escalation to conflict management, reflecting real-world operational planning and execution. The exercise integrated offensive air strikes, layered air defence operations, special forces missions, and humanitarian assistance tasks, highlighting the Indian Air Force’s evolution into a truly multi-domain, integrated force and reinforcing its role as the nation’s first responder in times of crisis.
Ceremonial Opening Sets the Tone for High-Intensity Operations
The exercise commenced on a solemn and patriotic note with the rendition of the National Song and National Anthem. This was followed by a ceremonial flypast of Chetak helicopters carrying the National Flag, the Air Force Ensign, and the Operation Sindoor Flag, symbolising honour, sacrifice, and operational legacy. Moments later, a precisely timed sonic boom by a Rafale fighter aircraft tore through the desert skies, dramatically announcing the transition from ceremony to combat and setting the stage for the high-intensity operations that followed.
Massive Aerial Participation Reflects Depth of IAF Capability
More than 130 aircraft participated in the day-and-night exercise, making it one of the largest air power demonstrations in recent years. The diverse fleet included Rafale, Su-30 MKI, Mirage-2000, MiG-29, Jaguar, Hawk, Mi-17 helicopters, C-130J Super Hercules, C-295, C-17 Globemaster, the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv, and the LCH Prachand. This wide array of platforms underscored the IAF’s ability to conduct complex, coordinated missions involving air superiority, deep strike, close air support, strategic lift, and rotary-wing operations within a single integrated framework.
Precision Strikes and Lethal Accuracy on Display
Fighter aircraft executed precision strikes against simulated enemy targets using advanced air-to-ground weapons, including precision-guided munitions and long-range strike systems. These missions demonstrated the IAF’s capability to deliver decisive firepower with exceptional accuracy while minimising collateral damage. The strikes reflected the force’s readiness to neutralise high-value targets across contested airspace, reinforcing India’s deterrence posture and warfighting credibility.
Integrated Air Defence and Jointmanship with Ground Forces
Air defence operations formed a crucial pillar of VAYUSHAKTI-26. Coordinated engagements between airborne platforms and ground-based air defence systems such as Akash and SPYDER missile systems were showcased, supported by Indian Army air defence assets including L-70 guns and M-777 howitzers. This seamless integration highlighted the depth of jointmanship between air and ground forces, demonstrating a unified approach to protecting critical assets and ensuring battlespace dominance.
Special Forces Operations and Humanitarian Response Capabilities
Special operations and humanitarian assistance missions were key components of the exercise, reflecting the evolving role of the Indian Air Force beyond conventional combat. As dusk fell, Garud Special Forces, along with Para SF elements, were inserted by Mi-17 helicopters to conduct simulated urban intervention and hostage rescue operations. These missions showcased precision insertion, coordination, and extraction capabilities. This was followed by assault landings and evacuation drills by C-130J and C-295 aircraft from Advanced Landing Grounds, reaffirming the IAF’s critical role in rapid response, disaster relief, and casualty evacuation under challenging conditions.
Night Operations Demonstrate Round-the-Clock Dominance
The night phase of the exercise highlighted integrated air defence and air-landed operations under low-visibility conditions. Multiple fighter platforms carried out precision night strikes, demonstrating the Indian Air Force’s ability to dominate the battlespace round-the-clock. These operations reflected advanced sensor integration, network-centric warfare, and high levels of crew proficiency essential for modern aerial combat.
Symbolic Conclusion Reflects Peace Through Strength
Exercise VAYUSHAKTI-26 concluded with a symbolic ceasefire flypast by a C-17 Globemaster aircraft, representing stability and resolution after conflict. This was followed by a drone display celebrating the Indian Air Force’s legacy, achievements, and future trajectory, blending tradition with cutting-edge technology in a powerful visual finale.
Reinforcing Doctrine, Deterrence, and National Power
Guided by its core values of “Achook, Abhedya aur Sateek”—Infallible, Impenetrable, and Precise—Exercise VAYUSHAKTI-26 successfully validated the Indian Air Force’s operational doctrine, joint integration, and technological capabilities. The exercise reaffirmed the IAF’s role as a key enabler of India’s comprehensive national power and a cornerstone of its strategic deterrence, sending a clear message of readiness, resolve, and resilience from the sands of Pokhran to the world.

राजस्थान के सामरिक दृष्टि से अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण में ने बहुप्रतीक्षित अभ्यास ‘वायुशक्ति-26’ का सफल आयोजन किया। थार के विस्तृत रेगिस्तानी क्षेत्र को एक यथार्थवादी और उच्च तीव्रता वाले युद्धक्षेत्र में परिवर्तित करते हुए इस अभ्यास में वायुसेना की युद्ध तत्परता, परिचालन समन्वय और अत्याधुनिक तकनीकी क्षमताओं का संपूर्ण स्पेक्ट्रम सामने आया। यह अभ्यास न केवल भविष्य के युद्ध परिदृश्यों की झलक था, बल्कि यह भी स्पष्ट करता है कि भारतीय वायुसेना किसी भी परिस्थिति में निर्णायक वायु शक्ति के प्रयोग के लिए पूर्णतः सक्षम है।
राष्ट्रपति की उपस्थिति से बढ़ा अभ्यास का राष्ट्रीय महत्व
इस भव्य फायर पावर डेमोंस्ट्रेशन की मुख्य अतिथि रहीं भारत की राष्ट्रपति , जिनकी उपस्थिति ने अभ्यास को सर्वोच्च संवैधानिक गरिमा प्रदान की। उनके साथ राजस्थान के राज्यपाल हरिभाऊ किशनराव बागड़े, रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह, नागरिक उड्डयन मंत्री किंजरापु राम मोहन नायडू, संस्कृति एवं पर्यटन मंत्री गजेंद्र सिंह शेखावत, राजस्थान सरकार के खाद्य एवं नागरिक आपूर्ति मंत्री सुमित गोदारा, मुख्य सूचना आयुक्त राज कुमार गोयल, कैबिनेट सचिव डॉ. टी.वी. सोमनाथन, चीफ ऑफ डिफेंस स्टाफ जनरल अनिल चौहान, भारतीय वायुसेना और नौसेना के कमांडर-इन-चीफ, तीनों सेनाओं के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी, केंद्र व राज्य सरकारों के प्रतिनिधि, डीपीएसयू अधिकारी, पूर्व वायुसेना प्रमुख, सम्मानित पूर्व सैनिक, मित्र देशों के रक्षा अताशे, देश-विदेश के मीडिया प्रतिनिधि तथा स्कूली बच्चे उपस्थित रहे। यह उपस्थिति इस बात का प्रमाण थी कि ‘वायुशक्ति-26’ केवल एक सैन्य अभ्यास नहीं, बल्कि राष्ट्रीय शक्ति का प्रतीक था।
एलसीएच प्रचंड में राष्ट्रपति की उड़ान, आत्मनिर्भर भारत का सशक्त संदेश
अभ्यास से पूर्व राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मू ने स्वदेशी रूप से विकसित लाइट कॉम्बैट हेलीकॉप्टर प्रचंड (LCH Prachand) में उड़ान भरी। यह क्षण भारत की रक्षा निर्माण क्षमताओं में आए ऐतिहासिक बदलाव का प्रतीक बना। ऊँचाई और रेगिस्तानी युद्ध के लिए विशेष रूप से डिजाइन किया गया यह हेलीकॉप्टर ‘आत्मनिर्भर भारत’ की सोच का सजीव उदाहरण है, जिसने यह दिखाया कि अब भारत अत्याधुनिक युद्ध प्लेटफॉर्म स्वयं विकसित कर रहा है और उन्हें अग्रिम मोर्चों पर तैनात कर रहा है।
पहली बार ऑपरेशनल स्टोरीलाइन पर आधारित जीवंत युद्ध अभ्यास
‘वायुशक्ति-26’ की सबसे बड़ी विशेषता यह रही कि इसे पहली बार एक स्पष्ट और परिभाषित ऑपरेशनल स्टोरीलाइन के तहत अंजाम दिया गया। इससे यह अभ्यास एक वास्तविक “लाइव कॉम्बैट थिएटर” में तब्दील हो गया। इस क्रमबद्ध परिदृश्य में आक्रामक हवाई हमले, बहुस्तरीय वायु रक्षा, विशेष बलों के मिशन और मानवीय सहायता अभियानों को एकीकृत किया गया। इसने यह सिद्ध किया कि भारतीय वायुसेना अब केवल आकाशीय युद्ध तक सीमित नहीं, बल्कि एक मल्टी-डोमेन और इंटीग्रेटेड फोर्स के रूप में कार्य कर रही है, जो संकट की घड़ी में देश की प्रथम प्रतिक्रिया शक्ति है।
राष्ट्रगान, तिरंगा और राफेल की गर्जना से हुई अभ्यास की शुरुआत
अभ्यास की शुरुआत राष्ट्रगीत और राष्ट्रगान के साथ हुई, जिसके तुरंत बाद चेतक हेलीकॉप्टरों द्वारा किया गया भव्य फ्लाईपास्ट आकर्षण का केंद्र रहा। इन हेलीकॉप्टरों ने राष्ट्रीय ध्वज, वायुसेना ध्वज और ऑपरेशन सिंदूर का ध्वज लेकर आकाश में गौरवशाली दृश्य रचा। इसके बाद एक राफेल लड़ाकू विमान की सटीक समय पर हुई सोनिक बूम ने पूरे क्षेत्र को गुंजायमान कर दिया और यह स्पष्ट संकेत दे दिया कि अब उच्च तीव्रता वाले युद्ध अभियानों का आरंभ हो चुका है।
130 से अधिक विमानों की भागीदारी, वायुसेना की व्यापक क्षमता का परिचय
दिन और रात तक चले इस विशाल अभ्यास में 130 से अधिक विमानों ने हिस्सा लिया। इनमें राफेल, सुखोई-30 एमकेआई, मिराज-2000, मिग-29, जैगुआर, हॉक, एमआई-17 हेलीकॉप्टर, सी-130जे, सी-295, सी-17 ग्लोबमास्टर, स्वदेशी एडवांस्ड लाइट हेलीकॉप्टर ध्रुव और एलसीएच प्रचंड शामिल थे। इतने विविध प्लेटफॉर्म्स की एक साथ भागीदारी ने यह दिखाया कि भारतीय वायुसेना जटिल और संयुक्त अभियानों को अत्यंत सटीकता और तालमेल के साथ अंजाम देने में सक्षम है।
सटीक प्रहार और घातक मारक क्षमता का प्रभावशाली प्रदर्शन
लड़ाकू विमानों ने सिम्युलेटेड दुश्मन ठिकानों पर अत्याधुनिक एयर-टू-ग्राउंड हथियारों से सटीक हमले किए। प्रिसिजन गाइडेड म्यूनिशन और लंबी दूरी तक मार करने वाली क्षमताओं के माध्यम से यह साबित किया गया कि भारतीय वायुसेना न्यूनतम कोलेटरल डैमेज के साथ निर्णायक प्रहार करने में सक्षम है। यह प्रदर्शन भारत की रणनीतिक प्रतिरोधक क्षमता को मजबूती देने वाला रहा।
वायु रक्षा में संयुक्तता, आकाश और स्पाइडर की ताकत
अभ्यास के दौरान वायु रक्षा क्षमताओं का भी प्रभावशाली प्रदर्शन किया गया। आकाश और स्पाइडर मिसाइल प्रणालियों के साथ हवाई प्लेटफॉर्म्स का समन्वय दिखाया गया, जिसे भारतीय सेना की वायु रक्षा इकाइयों—एल-70 गन और एम-777 हॉवित्जर—का समर्थन प्राप्त था। यह दृश्य भारतीय सेना और वायुसेना के बीच गहरे संयुक्त तालमेल और एकीकृत युद्ध दृष्टिकोण का सशक्त उदाहरण था।
गरुड़ और पैरा एसएफ की कार्रवाई, विशेष बलों का दमखम
सांझ ढलते ही गरुड़ स्पेशल फोर्स और पैरा एसएफ के जवानों को एमआई-17 हेलीकॉप्टरों से उतारा गया, जिन्होंने शहरी हस्तक्षेप और बंधक मुक्ति जैसे अभियानों का अभ्यास किया। इसके बाद सी-130 और सी-295 विमानों द्वारा एडवांस्ड लैंडिंग ग्राउंड से असॉल्ट लैंडिंग और निकासी अभियानों को अंजाम दिया गया। इन मिशनों ने यह दर्शाया कि आपदा, आतंक या युद्ध—हर स्थिति में भारतीय वायुसेना त्वरित प्रतिक्रिया देने में सक्षम है।
रात के अंधेरे में भी वायुसेना की पूर्ण प्रभुत्व क्षमता
अभ्यास का रात्रि चरण विशेष रूप से प्रभावशाली रहा, जिसमें कम दृश्यता की परिस्थितियों में एकीकृत वायु रक्षा और नाइट प्रिसिजन स्ट्राइक को प्रदर्शित किया गया। विभिन्न लड़ाकू विमानों ने सटीक रात्रिकालीन हमले कर यह सिद्ध किया कि भारतीय वायुसेना 24×7 युद्धक्षेत्र पर अपना प्रभुत्व बनाए रखने में सक्षम है।
शांति का संदेश और भविष्य की झलक के साथ समापन
‘वायुशक्ति-26’ का समापन सी-17 विमान के प्रतीकात्मक सीजफायर फ्लाईपास्ट के साथ हुआ, जिसने संघर्ष के बाद स्थिरता और शांति का संदेश दिया। इसके पश्चात ड्रोन शो के माध्यम से भारतीय वायुसेना की गौरवशाली विरासत, उपलब्धियों और भविष्य की दिशा को दर्शाया गया।
‘अचूक, अभेद्य और सटीक’—वायुशक्ति-26 का स्पष्ट संदेश
भारतीय वायुसेना के मूल मंत्र “अचूक, अभेद्य और सटीक” के अनुरूप, अभ्यास वायुशक्ति-26 ने वायुसेना की परिचालन सिद्धांतों, संयुक्त एकीकरण और तकनीकी क्षमताओं को पूरी तरह प्रमाणित किया। यह अभ्यास न केवल भारत की व्यापक राष्ट्रीय शक्ति का परिचायक बना, बल्कि यह भी स्पष्ट संदेश दे गया कि भारतीय वायुसेना देश की रणनीतिक प्रतिरोधक क्षमता की सबसे मजबूत स्तंभों में से एक है।
