Iran Confirms Ongoing Judicial Proceedings in Case of Three Missing Indian Nationals: Urges Caution Against Illegal Travel Agents
Tehran/New Delhi – The Iranian government has officially confirmed that the case regarding the disappearance of three Indian nationals is under active investigation and judicial proceedings are ongoing. The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in New Delhi, through a formal communication, clarified that the matter is being pursued by the Consular Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with the concerned judicial authorities in Iran.
According to the Embassy’s statement, the Indian Embassy in Tehran is being kept regularly informed about developments in the case. The coordination between the two countries remains strong as authorities seek clarity on the whereabouts and circumstances surrounding the missing Indians.
“The case concerning the disappearance of three Indian nationals is being followed up by the Consular Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran in coordination with the relevant judicial authorities,” said the official statement released by the Iranian Embassy in New Delhi.
Consular Coordination and Diplomatic Engagement
The incident, which has triggered concern within the Indian diaspora, is being handled with utmost sensitivity. Indian officials are closely monitoring the developments through diplomatic channels. While no further personal details of the three Indian citizens have been officially released due to the ongoing nature of the inquiry, it is understood that all three were allegedly taken into custody under suspicious circumstances.
Diplomatic sources confirm that the Embassy of India in Tehran is working tirelessly with Iranian officials to ensure that due process is followed and that the rights and safety of Indian nationals are safeguarded.
Iranian authorities are also being urged by the Indian side to expedite the investigation and provide early access or consular visits if the individuals are in official custody.
Warning to Indian Citizens: Avoid Unauthorized Travel Agents
Perhaps the most significant part of the Iranian statement is the public warning to Indian citizens regarding fraudulent travel offers. The Embassy cautioned that certain unauthorized Indian agencies and individuals have been misleading vulnerable people into traveling to third countries under the guise of employment or immigration, often using illegal or unregulated routes.
“Given the nature of this incident, Indian citizens are strongly advised not to be deceived by the promises of unauthorized individuals or illegal Indian agencies offering travel to other countries,” the Iranian Embassy’s advisory noted.
This warning aligns with recent incidents reported across various Middle Eastern countries where job-seekers from India, especially from Punjab, Haryana, Bihar, and Kerala, have been duped into traveling through illegal routes. Many of these individuals end up detained in foreign lands or stranded without proper documentation or consular access.
India’s Growing Concern Over Exploitation of Job Seekers
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in New Delhi has on several occasions warned Indian citizens to verify the credentials of overseas recruiters and ensure they go through proper government-authorized emigration processes. This latest development in Iran has again brought into focus the exploitation of Indian job-seekers, especially those from rural or economically weaker sections.
Multiple non-governmental organizations and human rights groups have raised alarm over this growing trend of human trafficking and illegal immigration from India to Gulf and Central Asian countries. The modus operandi usually involves a promise of work, followed by confiscation of passports and coercion once the individuals reach foreign soil.
Call for Regulation and Legal Pathways
Experts suggest that the Indian government, along with friendly nations like Iran, needs to enhance bilateral cooperation in regulating migration channels and ensuring legal travel frameworks are made more accessible and affordable. Additionally, public awareness campaigns must be strengthened, especially in vulnerable states and districts that are targeted by these fake agents.
The case of the three missing Indians in Iran may turn out to be yet another cautionary tale unless strict steps are taken to dismantle these unauthorized networks.

तेहरान/नई दिल्ली – ईरान सरकार ने औपचारिक रूप से पुष्टि की है कि तीन भारतीय नागरिकों की गुमशुदगी का मामला सक्रिय न्यायिक प्रक्रिया में है और इसकी जांच चल रही है। इस्लामी गणराज्य ईरान के विदेश मंत्रालय के कांसुलर अफेयर्स विभाग द्वारा संबंधित न्यायिक अधिकारियों के समन्वय में इस मामले की जांच की जा रही है।
ईरानी दूतावास की ओर से जारी आधिकारिक बयान में बताया गया है कि भारत सरकार की ओर से तेहरान स्थित भारतीय दूतावास को इस मामले में हो रही प्रगति की नियमित जानकारी दी जा रही है।
“तीन भारतीय नागरिकों की गुमशुदगी का मामला ईरान के विदेश मंत्रालय के कांसुलर विभाग द्वारा संबंधित न्यायिक अधिकारियों के साथ मिलकर देखा जा रहा है,” – नई दिल्ली स्थित ईरानी दूतावास का आधिकारिक वक्तव्य।
राजनयिक समन्वय और संवेदनशीलता से निपटने की प्रक्रिया

“इस घटना की प्रकृति को देखते हुए, भारतीय नागरिकों को ऐसे अनधिकृत व्यक्तियों या अवैध एजेंसियों के झांसे में नहीं आना चाहिए जो अन्य देशों की यात्रा के फर्जी वादे करते हैं,” – ईरानी दूतावास की सार्वजनिक चेतावनी।
यह चेतावनी उन हालिया घटनाओं के मद्देनज़र आई है जहाँ भारतीय नागरिकों को खासकर मध्य पूर्व और मध्य एशिया में फंसाया गया है। पंजाब, हरियाणा, बिहार और केरल जैसे राज्यों से सैकड़ों लोग अवैध एजेंटों के माध्यम से विदेश जाते हैं और बाद में पासपोर्ट ज़ब्त कर लिए जाते हैं, या उन्हें बंधुआ मजदूरी के लिए मजबूर किया जाता है।
प्रवासी भारतीयों के लिए भारत सरकार की चिंता
भारत सरकार पहले भी कई बार विदेशों में रोजगार दिलाने वाले एजेंटों की वैधता की जांच की सलाह दे चुकी है। ईरान में सामने आया यह नया मामला फिर एक बार प्रवासी भारतीयों के शोषण को उजागर कर रहा है।
मानवाधिकार संगठनों और सामाजिक कार्यकर्ताओं ने बार-बार यह मांग की है कि सरकार इस तरह की अवैध मानव तस्करी और गलत जानकारी देने वाले ट्रैवल नेटवर्क को समाप्त करे।
कानूनी और सुरक्षित यात्रा मार्गों पर ज़ोर
विशेषज्ञों का मानना है कि भारत को अपने मैत्रीपूर्ण देशों के साथ मिलकर सुरक्षित और वैध प्रवास तंत्र को मजबूत करने की आवश्यकता है। साथ ही, ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों और गरीब तबके में व्यापक जन-जागरूकता अभियान चलाने की सख्त जरूरत है ताकि लोग फर्जी एजेंटों के जाल में न फंसें।
ईरान में लापता तीन भारतीयों का मामला एक और चेतावनी बन सकता है अगर इन अवैध नेटवर्कों पर कठोर कार्रवाई न की गई।
