Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma Takes Helm at Army Training Command

Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, AVSM, SM, has taken command of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC), marking a significant leadership transition within one of the Indian Army’s crucial formations.

The ceremony, held today at Annandale in Shimla, featured a review of the Military Guard of Honour by the new Army Commander.

In his inaugural address, Lt Gen Sharma motivated all ranks of ARTRAC to continue their duties with the highest levels of zeal and enthusiasm.

His call to action reinforces the command’s pivotal role in enhancing the operational readiness and effectiveness of the Indian Army through advanced and specialized training.

Established on October 1, 1991, ARTRAC was initially located in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, before relocating to Shimla on March 31, 1993.

The command serves as the epicenter of training strategy and doctrine for the Army, having merged with the Directorate General of Military Training (DGMT) in 2020. This merger has streamlined training initiatives, further amplifying ARTRAC’s ability to adapt to contemporary warfare challenges and evolving defense strategies.
