Lt Gen Manjinder Singh Reviews Tech-Driven Modernization at Bathinda Military Station
Lt Gen Manjinder Singh stresses innovation, operational readiness under ‘Year of Reforms’ drive.
Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, Army Commander of the Sapta Shakti Command, carried out a detailed review of the Bathinda Military Station today, placing strong emphasis on the Army’s ongoing shift towards technology-enabled transformation and operational preparedness.
The visit comes as part of the Ministry of Defence’s ‘Year of Reforms’ initiative and the wider ‘Decade of Transformation’ campaign spanning 2023–2032, both aimed at modernizing the Indian Army to meet evolving security challenges.
During the visit, Lt Gen Singh assessed the training standards and combat readiness of various formations including infantry, artillery, and logistics support units stationed at the key military base. Located just 100 kilometers from the Pakistan border, the Bathinda Military Station is home to the Chetak Corps and plays a vital role in safeguarding southern Punjab and nearby Rajasthan.
Covering over 50 acres, the base has seen notable modernization in recent years, with new accommodations and enhanced facilities boosting its strategic capabilities.

A major highlight of the review was the integration of new-age technologies into military operations. Lt Gen Singh underlined the critical importance of practical, tech-enabled training to tackle threats in both physical and cyber domains. He reviewed recent innovations, including indigenous drone warfare systems and counter-drone technologies, which were first tested in desert conditions earlier this year.
The Army Commander also interacted with troops across all ranks, praising their discipline and commitment. Drawing from his own extensive operational experience, particularly in counter-insurgency along the Line of Control in Jammu & Kashmir, he emphasized the need for adaptable, future-ready forces.
Established in 1979 under the leadership of Lt Gen ML Tuli, the Bathinda Military Station has grown into a major military and logistical hub with an integrated ammunition dump and housing for multiple formations. The station’s continued development reflects the Army’s focus on innovation, self-reliance, and preparedness amid dynamic regional security conditions.
