Peshawar court suspends person’s sentence in second marriage case, issues notices

The Additional District and Sessions Judge of Peshawar heard the petition filed against the sentence against a person’s second marriage without the wife’s permission and suspended the punishment issuing issued notices to the parties.

Last week, a family court sentenced a person to three months imprisonment and a fine of Rs5,000 for a second marriage without permission.

“Family Court sentence is against Sharia,” the petition filed against the sentence of family court maintained.

“The plaintiff woman herself did not file a complaint but the complaint was filed by her brother,” the lawyer of the accused person who got sentence prayed.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till April 30.
