Two senior DIGs refuse to work under new Islamabad IGP Ali Nasir Rizvi

DIG Security Owais Ahmed and DIG Headquarters Hasan Raza step down from their positions

The Islamabad Police Department was thrown into turmoil as two senior Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) tendered their resignations in protest against the appointment of a ”junior officer” as the new Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad Police.

DIG Security Owais Ahmed and DIG Headquarters Hasan Raza stepped down from their positions, citing their refusal to work under the newly appointed IG Islamabad, Ali Nasir Rizvi.

The controversy stems from the decision to elevate a junior officer to the prestigious position of IG, bypassing more senior DIGs.

Sources revealed that the appointment process has sparked concerns regarding the evaluation and writing of Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs) by junior officers, further exacerbating tensions within the force.

The appointment of Ali Nasir Rizvi, a BS-20 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan, was met with delayed implementation, attributed to a dispute between the Interior Ministry and Punjab over his transfer from Punjab to the Establishment Division.

On April 22, Rizvi finally assumed office after a 22-day delay, following the official notification of his appointment.
