Headquarters Western Air Command of the Indian Air Force successfully hosted a high-level Joint Operations Conclave on 05 and 06 February 2026 under the All Domain Joint Operations (ADJO) Exercise 2026 framework, marking a significant milestone in India’s journey towards fully integrated, future-ready joint warfare. The conclave brought together senior operational leadership from across the Indian Defence establishment, reflecting a clear and deliberate shift towards deeper jointness, real-time interoperability, and domain-agnostic operational thinking in response to the rapidly evolving character of modern warfare.
The conclave was designed to strengthen intra-service and inter-service operational synergy, with focused deliberations on joint planning, intelligence integration, capability development, and execution across air, land, sea, space, and cyber domains. The conclave was further strengthened by the address of Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, who highlighted the necessity of institutionalising joint mechanisms across planning, intelligence sharing, and capability prioritisation. He emphasised that jointness must move beyond coordination to become embedded in structures, doctrines, and operational culture.
Air Marshal Dixit stressed the importance of coherent inter-service responses, especially in high-tempo conflict scenarios where fragmented decision-making could prove costly. He called for a structured approach to identifying capability gaps and aligning tri-service resources to address emerging threats. Highlighting the centrality of all-domain integration, he noted that future operational success would depend on achieving synergistic effects across services rather than isolated domain-specific actions.

Significantly, he called for a decisive shift away from legacy attrition-based models of warfare characteristic of the 1971 era, as well as a move beyond conventional Effects-Based Operations frameworks. Instead, he advocated the adoption of an agile, adaptive, and fully integrated joint warfighting paradigm that is responsive to rapidly changing operational dynamics.

Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra placed particular emphasis on the imperative of identifying and bridging existing capability gaps across domains.
