LT GEN SANJIV RAI CHETAK CORPS COMMANDER BID FAREWELL TO ARMS

Lieutenant General Sanjiv Rai, 33rd General Officer Commanding successfully completes his tenure of more than a year and relinquishes command of the prestigious Chetak Corps at Bathinda Military Station. Today it is also a historic moment, wherein the General Officer superannuates and bids farewell to arms, after 37 and half years of distinguished service to the Indian Army.
Jaipur based PRO appraised that Lieutenant General Sanjiv Rai was commissioned in Jun 1986 into the Sikh Light Infantry and was an alumnus of the National Defence Academy Khadakwasla, Pune, Indian Military Academy, Deharadun, College of Combat, Mhow, DSSC, Wellington, College of Air Warfare, Secunderabad and National Defence College, New Delhi. The General Officer had vast and varied operational experience of serving along all the borders of India and in various challenging environments.
The General Officer commanded an Infantry Battalion on Western borders, Infantry Brigade and Infantry Division on Northern borders, and the prestigious Chetak Corps along the Western Borders. He had varied instructional appointments and was an instructor at the Indian Military Academy at Dehradun, Indian Military Training Team at Bhutan and Adjutant of the National Defence Academy Khadakwasla Pune. He also held the prestigious appointment of Military Secretary to the President of India before taking over command of the Chetak Corps. During his long service, for his professionalism and dedication to duty he was decorated with the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal.

The General Officer is academically attuned and holds a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Science and is a double Master in Philosophy Degree holder from Madras and Osmania Universities. He also has the unique distinction of doing the Counter Terrorism and Hostage Negotiation course in Moscow, Russia.
During his farewell address, bidding farewell to arms and on handing over the command, the General Officer Commanding paid his respect to the Martyrs and conveyed his heartfelt regards to the Next of Kin and families. The General Officer conveyed his best wishes to the Veer Naris, Veterans, all serving personnel and families of the Corps. The General officer complimented all ranks of the Chetak Corps for their commitment, zeal and loyalty to the organization and urged soldiers to look forward with the larger goal in mind and ensure commitment and service to the Nation.
He has led his life as a true leader, dedicated and committed to the task. The General Officer and Mrs Neelu Rai, Zonal President AWWA, move to take on more challenging assignments and all ranks of Chetak Corps wish them the very best in life.

चेतक कोर के ३३वे जनरल अफसर कमांडिंग, लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल संजीव राय ने सेना में ३७ वर्ष की विशिष्ट सेवाएं देने के उपरांत ३१ दिसंबर २०२३ को सेवानिवृत हुये ।

लेफ्टिनेट जनरल संजीव राय १९८६ में सिख लाइट इन्फेंट्री में बतौर अधिकारी शामिल हुये । उन्होंने NDA खडकवासला पुणे तत्पश्चात भारतीय सैन्य अकादमी देहरादून में बतौर कैडेट का प्रशिक्षण प्राप्त किया तथा DSSC वेलिंग्टन , कॉलेज ऑफ़ कॉम्बैट माऊ तथा कॉलेज ऑफ़ एयर वारफेयर सिकंदराबाद में अग्रिन सैनिक प्रक्षिशण प्राप्त किया ।

जनरल अफसर को देश की सभी सीमाओं पर चुनौतीपूर्ण माहौल में कार्य करने का अनुभव प्राप्त है। उन्होंने पश्चिमी सीमा पर सिख लाइट इन्फेंट्री पलटन और चेतक कोर एवं उत्तरी सीमा पर इन्फैंट्री ब्रिगेड और इन्फेंट्री डिवीज़न की कमान सफलतापूर्वक निभाई । जनरल अफसर अपने सैन्य सेवा के दौरान भूटान में प्रशिक्षक तथा NDA पुणे में बतौर दण्डपाल भी रहे । सैन्य जीवन के दौरान उन्हें अनेको सैन्य पुरस्कारों व सम्मानों से भी सम्मानित किया गया जैसे की परम विशिष्ट सेवा मैडल, अति विशिष्ट सेवा मैडल , सेना मैडल तथा विशिष्ट सेवा मैडल ।

लेफ्टिनेट संजीव राय ने सैनिक जीवन के दौरान अपनी शैक्षिक योग्यता में काफी इज़ाफ़ा किया । उन्होंने जवाहर लाल नेहरू विश्वविद्यालय से विज्ञान में स्नातक और मद्रास विश्वविद्यालय से परास्नातक किया। लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल संजीव राय ने ओस्मानिया व मद्रास विश्विद्यालय से एम् फील की डिग्री भी प्राप्त करी है ।

लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल संजीव राय ने अपने विदाई भाषण में शहीद वीर जवानो को श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की और वीर नारियों के हौसले की प्रशंसा की । उन्होंने सभी कार्यरत व भूतपूर्व सैनिकों को ढ़ेर सारी शुभकामनाएं व्यक्त करी ।
