On the auspicious occasion of Diwali, the festival of lights that signifies victory of good over evil and hope over despair, Air Chief Marshal A P Singh, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), visited frontline bases in the Ladakh sector to celebrate the festival with the personnel of the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Indian Army. His visit, marked by warmth, inspiration, and national pride, brought festive cheer to those guarding India’s northernmost frontiers amid some of the harshest conditions on Earth.
As the glowing diyas illuminated the icy windswept landscape of Ladakh, Air Chief Marshal Singh’s presence reaffirmed a timeless message — that the strength of India’s Armed Forces lies not merely in their weaponry, but in their spirit, unity, and unflinching dedication to the motherland.
A Diwali Amid the Mountains of Steel and Snow
High above sea level, where the air is thin and temperatures often drop below freezing, the festival of lights took on a profound meaning. Air Chief Marshal A P Singh arrived at the IAF stations and forward posts in the Ladakh region, where men and women in uniform continue to uphold India’s sovereignty day and night, regardless of weather or terrain.
Upon arrival, the Chief of the Air Staff was received by senior IAF and Indian Army officers, who briefed him on the operational readiness, logistical coordination, and joint surveillance activities being carried out in the sector. Ladakh, with its strategic importance and proximity to critical borders, remains one of the most vital operational theatres for the Indian Air Force, particularly since the escalation of tensions in recent years.
Air Chief Marshal Singh was briefed on the latest developments in high-altitude operations, air maintenance missions, and combat preparedness measures being undertaken by the IAF in coordination with the Indian Army. He acknowledged the hardships faced in maintaining constant operational readiness, where every task — from air maintenance to surveillance flights — demands exceptional skill and endurance.
Air Chief Marshal Singh also highlighted the crucial role of jointness and integration between the IAF and the Indian Army in safeguarding India’s frontiers. “Our combined strength and coordination define India’s security posture. Together, we ensure that our adversaries never underestimate our resolve,” he added.
IAF’s Indispensable Role in High-Altitude Operations
For decades, the Indian Air Force has been the lifeline of the Ladakh sector, ensuring the uninterrupted movement of men, material, and essential supplies to forward posts located in some of the world’s most inaccessible terrains. From Daulat Beg Oldie to Thoise, and from Nyoma to Leh, the IAF’s transport and helicopter fleets have maintained a near-continuous air bridge — delivering food, fuel, ammunition, and medical aid to soldiers posted at impossible altitudes.
Aircraft such as the C-130J Super Hercules, C-17 Globemaster III, An-32, and helicopters like the Chinook, Mi-17V5, and ALH Dhruv have been instrumental in sustaining operations in this region. Air Chief Marshal Singh’s Diwali visit was, in many ways, an acknowledgment of this extraordinary logistical achievement — a tribute to those who fly in thin air, land on short icy runways, and risk their lives so that the nation’s tricolour continues to flutter proudly at the top of the world.

लद्दाख | 21 अक्टूबर 2025 —
हिमालय की ऊँचाइयों पर बर्फ़ से ढकी सीमाओं के बीच जब पूरा देश दीपों के त्योहार में रौशन था, तब भारतीय वायुसेना प्रमुख, एयर चीफ मार्शल ए. पी. सिंह ने लद्दाख सेक्टर में तैनात भारतीय वायुसेना (IAF) और भारतीय सेना (IA) के जवानों के साथ दिवाली मनाकर देशवासियों के दिलों को गर्व से भर दिया। यह दौरा सिर्फ़ एक औपचारिक परंपरा नहीं था, बल्कि उन सैनिकों के उत्साह और मनोबल को समर्पित एक भावनात्मक संदेश था जो देश की उत्तरी सीमाओं की रक्षा में चौबीसों घंटे तैनात रहते हैं।
ठंडी हवाओं और बर्फ़ीली चोटियों के बीच दीपावली की रौशनी ने एक अनोखा दृश्य रच दिया — जब एयर चीफ मार्शल सिंह ने अपने सैनिकों के साथ दीप जलाए, तो यह दृश्य सिर्फ़ पर्व का नहीं बल्कि भारत की वीरता और अनुशासन का प्रतीक बन गया।
स्टील और बर्फ़ के पहाड़ों के बीच जलती रही आशा की लौ
ऊँचाई पर, जहाँ सांस लेना भी कठिन है और तापमान शून्य से कई डिग्री नीचे चला जाता है, वहीं भारतीय जवान अपनी ड्यूटी निभा रहे हैं। एयर चीफ मार्शल ए. पी. सिंह ने लद्दाख के विभिन्न वायुसेना स्टेशनों और अग्रिम चौकियों का दौरा किया, जहाँ वायुसेना और थलसेना के जवान सीमाओं की निगरानी में जुटे हैं।
उन्हें वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों ने क्षेत्र की ऑपरेशनल रेडिनेस, लॉजिस्टिक सपोर्ट और इंटर-सर्विस कोऑर्डिनेशन की जानकारी दी। लद्दाख क्षेत्र रणनीतिक दृष्टि से अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है — चीन सीमा की निकटता और ऊँचाई पर स्थित अग्रिम ठिकाने इसे एक संवेदनशील और चुनौतीपूर्ण थिएटर बनाते हैं।
एयर चीफ मार्शल सिंह ने वायुसेना के उच्च-ऊँचाई अभियानों, एयर मेंटेनेंस मिशनों और कंबैट रेडिनेस की समीक्षा की। उन्होंने सैनिकों के अनुशासन और समर्पण की सराहना करते हुए कहा कि “यहां हर मिशन, हर उड़ान, हर निगरानी अभियान, देश की सुरक्षा का एक जीवंत प्रतीक है।”
“आपकी चौकसी से ही राष्ट्र का दीपक जलता है उजियारा”
जवानों को संबोधित करते हुए एयर चीफ मार्शल सिंह ने कहा —
“जब पूरा देश घरों में दीप जलाकर दिवाली मनाता है, तब असली उजाला उन जवानों से आता है जो सीमाओं पर तैनात रहते हैं। आपकी चौकसी ही वह दीप है जो भारत को सुरक्षित रखता है।”
उन्होंने लद्दाख की कठोर परिस्थितियों में तैनात सैनिकों के साहस और प्रतिबद्धता की सराहना की। साथ ही कहा कि वायुसेना और थलसेना के बीच समन्वय और संयुक्त ऑपरेशंस ने भारत की सीमाओं को और मज़बूत बनाया है।
“हमारी शक्ति हमारे एकजुटता में है। जब वायु और थल एक साथ काम करते हैं, तब भारत की सुरक्षा अजेय हो जाती है,” उन्होंने कहा।
उच्च-ऊँचाई अभियानों में भारतीय वायुसेना की रीढ़
लद्दाख सेक्टर में वायुसेना की भूमिका सिर्फ़ रक्षा नहीं बल्कि जीवनरेखा जैसी है। C-17 Globemaster, C-130J Super Hercules, An-32, Chinook, Mi-17V5 और ALH Dhruv जैसे विमानों और हेलीकॉप्टरों के ज़रिए देश की सीमाओं पर तैनात जवानों तक राशन, ईंधन, दवाइयाँ और गोला-बारूद पहुँचाया जाता है।
दौलत बेग ओल्डी, थोइस, न्योमा और लेह जैसी दुर्गम जगहों पर एयरब्रिज बनाए रखना अपने आप में एक असाधारण उपलब्धि है। एयर चीफ मार्शल सिंह ने इन मिशनों में लगे पायलटों, इंजीनियरों और ग्राउंड स्टाफ से मुलाकात कर कहा —
“हर उड़ान एक कहानी है साहस और कौशल की। देश आपकी हर लैंडिंग पर गर्व करता है।”
त्योहार और तपस्या का संगम: सीमा पर दिवाली
इस दौरान बेस पर दिवाली का आयोजन किया गया। जवानों ने दीप जलाए, मिठाइयाँ बाँटीं, और एयर चीफ मार्शल सिंह के साथ पर्व मनाया। सर्द हवाओं में भी वातावरण में गर्मजोशी थी — एक सैनिक परिवार की तरह सभी ने साथ बैठकर देशभक्ति के गीत गाए और अपने अनुभव साझा किए।
मुख्य ने जवानों से संवाद करते हुए उनके कल्याण, परिवारों की देखभाल और सुविधाओं के विस्तार का आश्वासन दिया। उन्होंने कहा कि वायुसेना निरंतर सैनिकों के हित में कार्य कर रही है, ताकि हर योद्धा का परिवार सुरक्षित और सशक्त रहे।
रणनीतिक सन्देश और सुरक्षा की गूंज
लद्दाख में एयर चीफ का यह दौरा प्रतीकात्मक ही नहीं बल्कि सामरिक दृष्टि से भी अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण था। भारत और चीन के बीच सीमा पर तनाव की पृष्ठभूमि में उनकी मौजूदगी ने यह स्पष्ट कर दिया कि भारत किसी भी परिस्थिति में तैयार है।
“भारतीय वायुसेना सदैव सतर्क है — हमारी चौकसी का कोई अवकाश नहीं। देश चैन से सोता है क्योंकि आप जागते हैं,”
एयर चीफ मार्शल सिंह ने कहा।
एक सैनिक का दिल, एक राष्ट्र की आत्मा
लद्दाख में मनाई गई यह दिवाली केवल एक पर्व नहीं थी — यह राष्ट्रभक्ति का उत्सव था। जब जवानों ने अपने हाथों से दीप जलाए, तो वह सिर्फ़ अंधकार मिटाने के लिए नहीं, बल्कि यह जताने के लिए था कि भारतीय सैनिक चाहे किसी भी परिस्थिति में हों, उनका मनोबल अटूट रहता है।
बर्फ़ीली हवाओं में उड़ती तिरंगे की छाया में जब एयर चीफ मार्शल सिंह ने सैनिकों को सलामी दी, तब यह दृश्य उस अमर भावना का प्रतीक बन गया जिसमें हर सैनिक अपने परिवार, अपने देश और अपने ध्वज के लिए जीता है।
आत्मनिर्भर वायुसेना की दिशा में बढ़ते कदम
दिवाली के इस विशेष अवसर पर एयर चीफ मार्शल सिंह ने वायुसेना के भविष्य की दिशा पर भी बात की। उन्होंने ‘आत्मनिर्भर भारत’ अभियान के तहत स्वदेशी तकनीक, स्वदेशी हथियार प्रणालियों और प्रशिक्षण सुधारों का ज़िक्र किया।
उन्होंने कहा कि भारतीय वायुसेना तेजी से तकनीकी क्रांति की ओर बढ़ रही है — “भविष्य का आकाश भारतीय इंजीनियरों और भारतीय पायलटों की उड़ान से ही जगमगाएगा।”
दीपों की चमक और देश की रक्षा का व्रत
जब एयर चीफ मार्शल सिंह ने विदा ली, तो जवानों ने उन्हें सैल्यूट किया। वह सैल्यूट सिर्फ़ एक सैन्य परंपरा नहीं था, बल्कि भावनाओं से भरा वादा था —
कि भारत की सीमाएँ सदैव सुरक्षित रहेंगी, चाहे तापमान गिरता जाए, चाहे बर्फ़ बढ़ती जाए।
इस दिवाली, देश ने जब घरों में दीप जलाए, तो सीमाओं पर जवानों ने भी अपने दीपक जलाए — जो न केवल बर्फ़ को पिघला रहे थे, बल्कि भारत के हर नागरिक के दिल को रोशन कर रहे थे।
