Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor Reviews Training Facilities at AFA and AF Station Hakimpet

Air Marshal Kapoor’s visit underscores the importance of these training institutions in preparing the next generation of IAF officers and specialized pilots, ensuring they uphold the highest standards of the Indian Air Force.

Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor, the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of Training Command, Indian Air Force (IAF), conducted an extensive review of the training facilities and activities during his visit to the Air Force Academy (AFA) and Air Force Station (AFS) Hakimpet.

Located approximately 43 km northwest of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, the AFA is the premier training center of the IAF. Established in 1967, the academy consolidates the initial officer training of the IAF under one roof.

AFA trains pilots, ground duty officers, and technical officers, emphasizing moral values, leadership qualities, discipline, military and academic subjects, physical exercise, drill, sports, and adventure activities. The academy’s mission is to transform young men and women into courageous, dynamic, intellectual, and cultured Air Warriors.

Situated about 25 km north of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, AFS Hakimpet was established in 1951 as a training airfield. Initially home to the Conversion Training Unit (CTU) with Spitfire and Tempest aircraft, it has evolved to house various training wings, including the Jet Training Wing (JTW) and Fighter Training Wing (FTW)
