Assam Rifles Foils PLA Infiltration Attempt on Indo-Myanmar Border – Four Cadres Apprehended in Manipur
Kohima, Nagaland | 30 August 2025 – In a significant counter-insurgency success along India’s sensitive northeastern frontier, the Assam Rifles, in close coordination with the Indian Army and Manipur Police, thwarted an infiltration attempt by the proscribed People’s Liberation Army (PLA) near the Indo-Myanmar border in Tengnoupal district of Manipur. The operation, conducted in the early hours of 29 August 2025, resulted in the apprehension of four active PLA cadres, delivering a major blow to insurgent networks operating across the border.
Swift Action on Specific Intelligence
Security sources revealed that the operation was launched after credible intelligence indicated movement of suspected PLA cadres near Border Pillar No. 86 along a known infiltration route. Two operational columns of Assam Rifles were swiftly deployed to intercept the militants. As dawn approached, troops detected suspicious movement in the rugged terrain near the border. Reacting with speed and precision, the forces laid an ambush and successfully intercepted four individuals attempting to cross into Indian territory.
Upon being challenged, the men offered no resistance and were taken into custody. During preliminary questioning, they admitted to being active members of the PLA, one of the oldest and most notorious insurgent outfits in Manipur, with a long history of violent activities against Indian security forces.
A Major Setback for PLA
The arrest of these cadres is being seen as a significant setback to the PLA’s attempts to revive insurgent activity in Manipur. Intelligence agencies have warned in recent months of attempts by banned outfits to regroup and exploit the porous Indo-Myanmar border for cross-border movement of cadres and weapons. The timely action of Assam Rifles has prevented what could have been a larger infiltration attempt aimed at destabilising peace in the region.
Officials also point out that the PLA has in the past maintained sanctuaries across the border in Myanmar and has attempted to push trained cadres back into Indian territory to carry out targeted strikes. The capture of four active cadres not only weakens these designs but also provides valuable intelligence about the outfit’s current strategies and linkages.
Handed Over for Investigation
Following established protocols, the apprehended individuals were handed over to Kakching Police Station for further investigation and legal action. Multiple agencies, including Military Intelligence and state police’s counter-insurgency units, are expected to interrogate the militants to extract actionable leads. Authorities believe the interrogation could shed light on the outfit’s command structure, recruitment methods, and supply routes.

Once again, this operation underscores the vital role of Assam Rifles in safeguarding India’s northeastern borders. Known as the “Sentinels of the North East”, the force has consistently demonstrated vigilance and operational excellence in countering insurgency and ensuring stability in sensitive frontier regions.
The coordinated effort with the Indian Army and Manipur Police further highlights the effectiveness of joint operations in maintaining peace and denying space to anti-national elements. With tensions simmering across the Indo-Myanmar border due to insurgent sanctuaries, the success of this operation sends a strong message – India remains uncompromising in defending its sovereignty and ensuring peace in the northeast.

मणिपुर में असम राइफल्स की बड़ी सफलता – म्यांमार सीमा पर घुसपैठ की कोशिश नाकाम, पीएलए के चार सक्रिय कैडर गिरफ्तार
कोहिमा, नागालैंड | 30 अगस्त 2025 – मणिपुर-म्यांमार सीमा पर असम राइफल्स ने एक और बड़ी कामयाबी हासिल की है। भारतीय सेना और मणिपुर पुलिस के साथ समन्वय में की गई संयुक्त कार्रवाई में प्रतिबंधित संगठन पीपुल्स लिबरेशन आर्मी (PLA) के चार सक्रिय कैडरों को गिरफ्तार किया गया। यह ऑपरेशन 29 अगस्त 2025 की सुबह तेंगनौपाल जिले के बॉर्डर पिलर नंबर 86 के पास चलाया गया।
खुफिया इनपुट पर कार्रवाई
सुरक्षा सूत्रों के अनुसार, असम राइफल्स को सूचना मिली थी कि पीएलए के कुछ कैडर म्यांमार से भारत में घुसपैठ की कोशिश कर सकते हैं। इस पर दो ऑपरेशनल कॉलम तैनात किए गए। सुबह के समय सीमा पर संदिग्ध गतिविधि देखी गई और सुरक्षाबलों ने तत्काल घात लगाकर चार लोगों को पकड़ लिया।
पूछताछ में सभी ने स्वीकार किया कि वे पीएलए के सक्रिय सदस्य हैं और संगठन की ओर से विभिन्न आतंकी गतिविधियों में शामिल रहे हैं।
पीएलए के लिए बड़ा झटका
गिरफ्तार कैडरों को विशेषज्ञ इस बात का सबूत मानते हैं कि पीएलए एक बार फिर मणिपुर में अपनी गतिविधियों को बढ़ाने की कोशिश कर रहा था। इस प्रतिबंधित संगठन ने लंबे समय तक म्यांमार की धरती को अपने ठिकाने के रूप में इस्तेमाल किया है और समय-समय पर भारतीय सीमा में घुसपैठ की कोशिशें करता रहा है।
चार कैडरों की गिरफ्तारी से न केवल पीएलए की योजना विफल हुई है, बल्कि सुरक्षा एजेंसियों को संगठन की मौजूदा रणनीतियों और नेटवर्क पर अहम जानकारी भी मिल सकती है।
पुलिस को सौंपे गए कैडर
मानक प्रक्रिया के तहत गिरफ्तार किए गए चारों को काकचिंग पुलिस स्टेशन के हवाले कर दिया गया है। उम्मीद है कि आगे की पूछताछ में उनके नेटवर्क, संपर्कों और संगठन की गतिविधियों के बारे में और भी अहम सुराग सामने आएंगे।
सीमाओं के प्रहरी – असम राइफल्स
असम राइफल्स को सही मायनों में पूर्वोत्तर का प्रहरी कहा जाता है। इस कार्रवाई ने एक बार फिर साबित कर दिया कि यह बल भारत की सीमाओं की सुरक्षा और आंतरिक स्थिरता बनाए रखने के लिए हमेशा तत्पर है।
भारतीय सेना और मणिपुर पुलिस के साथ संयुक्त अभियान इस बात का प्रमाण हैं कि देश की सुरक्षा एजेंसियां किसी भी खतरे को रोकने और शांति बनाए रखने के लिए पूरी तरह से संगठित और प्रतिबद्ध हैं।
