Bikaner Set for Transformational Growth in 2026 as Government Unveils Major Infrastructure, Governance and Security Push
Bikaner. Rajasthan’s Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sumit Godara has asserted that the coming year 2026 will mark a decisive turning point in Bikaner’s development journey, driven by large-scale infrastructure projects, administrative reforms, improved connectivity, and strengthened law-and-order mechanisms. Addressing a press conference at the Collectorate auditorium, the minister highlighted that the last two years have already laid a strong foundation for growth, and the next phase will fundamentally reshape the city’s urban, economic, and security landscape.
Major Infrastructure Push: Flyovers, Underbridges and Urban Renewal Projects
Minister Sumit Godara informed that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) worth ₹125 crore has been finalized for the construction of a Railway Overbridge (ROB) at Museum Circle, one of Bikaner’s busiest traffic junctions. This project is expected to significantly ease congestion and improve traffic flow. Alongside this, the long-pending Kotgate and Sankhla underbridge projects are slated for completion within the next six months, providing relief to commuters who have faced years of inconvenience.
He further emphasized that the ₹55 crore Kabir Vatika project will emerge as a landmark public space for the district, contributing not only to urban aesthetics but also to environmental sustainability and recreational infrastructure.
Electric City Buses, Street Lighting and Mini Secretariat Proposal
Highlighting steps towards modernization and green mobility, the minister announced that electric city buses will soon begin operating in Bikaner, enhancing public transport while reducing pollution. In addition, nearly 4,000 new streetlights will be installed across the city, improving safety and nighttime visibility.
To streamline governance and provide citizen-friendly administration, a proposal for a Mini Secretariat, housing all major government offices under one roof, will soon be forwarded. This initiative aims to reduce bureaucratic delays and save citizens from running between multiple offices.
Unprecedented Road Development Across All Assembly Constituencies
Calling it a first-of-its-kind initiative, Godara stated that ₹15 crore worth of road construction is being undertaken in each assembly constituency of the district. He assured that most road works within the city will be completed by March, significantly improving connectivity and driving comfort. Instructions have already been issued to officials to upgrade major intersections and traffic squares, ensuring smoother vehicular movement.
On sanitation, he stressed discipline and accountability, directing sanitation workers to perform duties in uniform and urging citizens to cooperate by avoiding littering on public roads.
Bikaner Development Authority (BDA) and Planned Urban Expansion
The minister credited Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal for his support in establishing the Bikaner Development Authority (BDA), calling it a crucial step toward structured and planned urban growth. The upcoming new BDA building is expected to bring significant relief to citizens by improving service delivery. Alongside this, new residential colonies are being developed, ensuring systematic expansion of the city rather than unplanned sprawl.
Solar Energy, Farmer Welfare and Employment Generation
Emphasizing renewable energy initiatives, Godara said that solar power projects have enabled farmers to receive electricity during daytime hours, making agricultural activities more efficient and predictable. These projects have also opened up new employment opportunities for local youth, strengthening the rural economy.
Under the ‘Hariyalo Rajasthan’ campaign, crores of saplings have been planted, reinforcing the state’s commitment to environmental conservation. In agricultural procurement, he noted that 42 peanut procurement centers were established for the first time, with 72,512 tokens issued. So far, 10,838 tokens have been processed, and procurement will continue over the next two months.
Tourism Boost and Enhanced National Connectivity
Bikaner’s tourism and connectivity profile has seen a sharp upward trajectory. The minister highlighted the launch of the Vande Bharat Express connecting Bikaner to Delhi, along with regular air connectivity, placing the city firmly on the national transport map. Furthermore, under the Bharatmala Project, Bikaner is now directly connected to Gujarat and Punjab, strengthening trade, tourism, and logistics potential.
Administrative Reforms and Accountability Measures
To curb stagnation and improve transparency, Sumit Godara announced that officials and staff posted at the same locations for years in the BDA and Municipal Corporation will be transferred. This move aims to prevent undue delays in public works and ensure fair handling of citizens’ grievances. He also urged the public and media to flag any shortcomings in construction quality, assuring swift administrative action.
Strengthening Law and Order: Anti-Narcotics and Anti-Gangster Task Forces
In a significant move to enhance security, the minister confirmed that Anti-Narcotics Task Force and Anti-Gangster Task Force units will soon be established in Bikaner. These specialized units are expected to bolster the fight against drug trafficking, organized crime, and gang-related activities, making the district safer for residents and investors alike.
Confidence in the Future: Civic Issues to See Major Resolution
Expressing confidence, Godara stated that issues related to drainage, breached embankments, and deteriorated roads will be largely resolved within the next one-and-a-half years. He emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring sustainable urban living and responsive governance.
The press conference was attended by District Collector Mrs. Namrata Vrishni, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Mr. Mayank Manish, and BDA Commissioner Mrs. Aparna Gupta, reflecting strong coordination between the administration and the government as Bikaner prepares for a new phase of development-driven transformation.

बीकानेर। राजस्थान के खाद्य एवं नागरिक आपूर्ति मंत्री सुमित गोदारा ने कहा है कि बीते दो वर्षों में बीकानेर जिले में विकास की मजबूत नींव रखी जा चुकी है और आने वाला वर्ष 2026 बीकानेर के इतिहास में एक निर्णायक बदलाव का वर्ष साबित होगा। कलेक्ट्रेट सभागार में आयोजित प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस को संबोधित करते हुए मंत्री ने स्पष्ट किया कि शहर का भविष्य अब केवल योजनाओं तक सीमित नहीं रहेगा, बल्कि धरातल पर दिखने वाले ठोस बदलावों के रूप में सामने आएगा।
शहर की यातायात व्यवस्था में बड़ा बदलाव: रेलवे ओवरब्रिज और अंडरब्रिज परियोजनाएं
मंत्री सुमित गोदारा ने बताया कि म्यूजियम सर्किल पर 125 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से बनने वाले रेलवे ओवरब्रिज की डीपीआर पूरी हो चुकी है। यह ओवरब्रिज बीकानेर के सबसे व्यस्त चौराहों में से एक पर यातायात जाम की समस्या को स्थायी समाधान देगा। इसके साथ ही कोटगेट और सांखला अंडरब्रिज के निर्माण कार्य आगामी छह महीनों में पूरे कर लिए जाएंगे, जिससे वर्षों से परेशान आमजन को बड़ी राहत मिलेगी।
उन्होंने कहा कि 55 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से बन रही कबीर वाटिका न केवल हरियाली बढ़ाएगी बल्कि यह शहर के लिए एक पहचान बनकर उभरेगी।
इलेक्ट्रिक बसें, स्ट्रीट लाइट और मिनी सचिवालय: स्मार्ट सिटी की ओर कदम
शहर को आधुनिक सुविधाओं से लैस करने के लिए बीकानेर में शीघ्र ही इलेक्ट्रिक सिटी बसों का संचालन शुरू किया जाएगा। इसके साथ ही लगभग 4 हजार नई स्ट्रीट लाइटें शहर के विभिन्न हिस्सों में लगाई जाएंगी, जिससे सुरक्षा और रोशनी दोनों में सुधार होगा।
मंत्री ने बताया कि आमजन को प्रशासनिक कार्यों के लिए एक ही छत के नीचे सेवाएं देने के उद्देश्य से मिनी सचिवालय का प्रस्ताव जल्द ही राज्य सरकार को भेजा जाएगा, जिससे जनता को दफ्तर-दफ्तर भटकने से मुक्ति मिलेगी।
हर विधानसभा क्षेत्र में सड़क निर्माण: अब तक का सबसे बड़ा प्रयास
उन्होंने इसे ऐतिहासिक बताते हुए कहा कि यह पहली बार है जब जिले की प्रत्येक विधानसभा क्षेत्र में 15-15 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से सड़कों का निर्माण कराया जा रहा है। मार्च माह तक शहर की अधिकांश सड़कों के कार्य पूरे कर लिए जाएंगे।
साथ ही शहर के प्रमुख चौराहों के सुधार के निर्देश अधिकारियों को दे दिए गए हैं। सफाई व्यवस्था को लेकर मंत्री ने सख्त रुख अपनाते हुए कहा कि सफाई कर्मियों को ड्रेस में कार्य करने के निर्देश दिए गए हैं और आमजन से भी सहयोग की अपील की गई है।
बीडीए की स्थापना और सुनियोजित शहरी विस्तार
मंत्री गोदारा ने केंद्रीय मंत्री अर्जुन राम मेघवाल के सहयोग से गठित बीकानेर विकास प्राधिकरण (बीडीए) को शहर के सुनियोजित विकास की दिशा में बड़ा कदम बताया। बीडीए की नई इमारत के निर्माण से आम लोगों को प्रशासनिक कार्यों में बड़ी राहत मिलेगी। इसके साथ ही शहर में नई कॉलोनियों का नियोजित विकास किया जा रहा है, जिससे अनियंत्रित विस्तार पर रोक लगेगी।
सोलर ऊर्जा, किसान कल्याण और रोजगार सृजन
सोलर परियोजनाओं का उल्लेख करते हुए मंत्री ने कहा कि सौर ऊर्जा के माध्यम से किसानों को दिन में बिजली उपलब्ध कराई जा रही है, जिससे खेती आसान हुई है और लागत में भी कमी आई है। इन परियोजनाओं से स्थानीय युवाओं को रोजगार के अवसर भी मिले हैं।
‘हरियालो राजस्थान’ अभियान के तहत जिले में करोड़ों पौधे लगाए गए हैं, जो पर्यावरण संरक्षण की दिशा में महत्वपूर्ण कदम है।
मूंगफली खरीद को लेकर उन्होंने बताया कि पहली बार 42 खरीद केंद्र स्थापित किए गए, जहां 72 हजार 512 टोकन जारी किए गए हैं। अब तक 10 हजार 838 टोकन की तुलाई हो चुकी है, और यह प्रक्रिया अगले दो महीनों तक जारी रहेगी।
पर्यटन और कनेक्टिविटी में नया युग
बीकानेर अब पर्यटन और परिवहन के क्षेत्र में भी नई ऊंचाइयों को छू रहा है। दिल्ली से वंदे भारत ट्रेन और नियमित हवाई सेवा शुरू होने से बीकानेर की राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर पहचान और मजबूत हुई है।
वहीं भारत माला परियोजना के तहत बीकानेर अब सीधे गुजरात और पंजाब से जुड़ गया है, जिससे व्यापार, पर्यटन और आवागमन को नई गति मिली है।
प्रशासनिक सुधार और जवाबदेही
मंत्री ने स्पष्ट किया कि बीडीए और नगर निगम में वर्षों से एक ही स्थान पर जमे कार्मिकों को बदला जाएगा, ताकि आमजन के कामों में अनावश्यक अड़चन न आए। उन्होंने निर्माण कार्यों की गुणवत्ता पर विशेष जोर देते हुए कहा कि यदि कहीं भी कमी नजर आए तो आमजन और मीडिया प्रशासन तक जरूर पहुंचाएं।
कानून-व्यवस्था को मजबूती: एंटी नारकोटिक्स और एंटी गैंगस्टर टास्क फोर्स
बीकानेर की सुरक्षा व्यवस्था को और मजबूत करने के लिए मंत्री ने घोषणा की कि शहर में शीघ्र ही एंटी नारकोटिक्स टास्क फोर्स और एंटी गैंगस्टर टास्क फोर्स का गठन किया जाएगा। इससे नशे के कारोबार और संगठित अपराध पर प्रभावी नियंत्रण संभव होगा।
भविष्य को लेकर भरोसा: डेढ़ साल में अधिकांश समस्याओं का समाधान
मंत्री सुमित गोदारा ने भरोसा जताया कि आने वाले डेढ़ वर्षों में नालियों, पाल टूटने और खराब सड़कों से जुड़ी अधिकांश समस्याएं काफी हद तक समाप्त हो जाएंगी। उन्होंने कहा कि सरकार का लक्ष्य बीकानेर को एक सुव्यवस्थित, सुरक्षित और विकासशील शहर बनाना है।
इस अवसर पर जिला कलेक्टर श्रीमती नम्रता वृष्णि, नगर निगम आयुक्त श्री मयंक मनीष और बीडीए आयुक्त श्रीमती अपर्णा गुप्ता भी मौजूद रहे, जो प्रशासन और सरकार के बीच मजबूत समन्वय का प्रतीक रहा।
