Brazilian Army Delegation Visits Military Intelligence Training School, Pune – Strengthening Indo-Brazil Military Cooperation

In a significant move towards strengthening bilateral defence ties and enhancing military-to-military cooperation between India and Brazil, a high-level delegation of the Brazilian Army visited the prestigious Military Intelligence Training School and Depot (MINTSD) in Pune on 17–18 July 2025. The visit marks a deepening of strategic engagement between the armed forces of both nations, particularly in the domain of military intelligence and capacity-building.
The four-member Brazilian delegation was led by Lieutenant General Carlos Eduardo Barbosa Da Costa, the Chief of the Brazilian Army Intelligence Centre. The delegation was accorded a warm welcome upon their arrival at the MINTSD campus, a premier institution under the Indian Army responsible for training officers and personnel in advanced military intelligence, counter-intelligence, and psychological warfare.
Familiarisation and Knowledge Exchange
During their two-day official visit, the Brazilian officers were extensively familiarised with the infrastructure, training modules, pedagogical methodologies, and simulation facilities used by MINTSD. The visiting delegation was given detailed briefings and live demonstrations on how the Indian Army prepares its intelligence officers to operate in high-threat environments, unconventional warfare scenarios, cyber intelligence, and terrain-specific reconnaissance missions.
The programme included immersive interactions with training faculty, classroom sessions, operational planning modules, and discussions on the role of technology in modern intelligence warfare.
According to defence officials, the delegation showed particular interest in the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) techniques being incorporated into the Indian Army’s training curriculum. Brazil’s interest in upgrading its own military intelligence institutions by studying international models like MINTSD highlights India’s growing reputation as a regional knowledge leader in military doctrine and counter-terrorism intelligence.
Strategic Discussions with Commandant and Faculty
One of the key highlights of the visit was the interaction between the delegation and Lieutenant General Devinder Pal Singh, Commandant of MINTSD. Lt Gen Singh and his team of senior instructors held detailed sessions with the Brazilian guests on evolving challenges in global and regional military intelligence, human intelligence operations, cyber-enabled threats, and the best practices being followed by their respective forces.
The Indian side shared insights from its operational experiences in hybrid warfare environments, border intelligence operations, and counterinsurgency in varied terrains such as Jammu and Kashmir and the North East. The Brazilian delegation shared their perspectives drawn from operations in the Amazon rainforest, urban conflict zones, and international peacekeeping missions in which Brazil has played an active role.
Both sides acknowledged the importance of continued cooperation, joint training opportunities, and exchange of intelligence know-how between friendly democracies like India and Brazil.
Growing India–Brazil Defence Ties
The visit is seen as part of a broader initiative under the India-Brazil Strategic Partnership, which was upgraded in 2020. Defence cooperation has emerged as a key pillar of this relationship, with increasing emphasis on defence production, officer exchanges, joint working groups, and military training linkages.
India and Brazil, both members of BRICS and G20, share a common vision of multipolar global order, strong democratic institutions, and peace-centric security frameworks. This visit reinforces the trust and mutual respect between their armed forces.
Sources within the Indian Army suggest that further collaborative ventures could emerge from this visit, including officer exchange programmes, intelligence-sharing protocols, and joint research on surveillance technologies and threat assessments.
ब्राजील आर्मी के उच्च स्तरीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने मिलिट्री इंटेलिजेंस ट्रेनिंग स्कूल पुणे का दौरा किया, भारत-ब्राजील रक्षा संबंधों को नई ऊंचाई

भारत और ब्राजील के बीच रक्षा सहयोग को मजबूती देने की दिशा में एक ऐतिहासिक कदम उठाते हुए, ब्राजील आर्मी के चार सदस्यीय उच्च स्तरीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने 17 और 18 जुलाई को पुणे स्थित भारतीय सेना के प्रतिष्ठित मिलिट्री इंटेलिजेंस ट्रेनिंग स्कूल एंड डिपो (MINTSD) का दौरा किया।
प्रतिनिधिमंडल का नेतृत्व ब्राजील की आर्मी इंटेलिजेंस सेंटर के प्रमुख लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल कार्लोस एडुआर्डो बारबोसा दा कोस्टा ने किया। पुणे पहुंचने पर भारतीय सेना की ओर से उनका भव्य स्वागत किया गया।
यह संस्थान भारतीय सेना के इंटेलिजेंस विंग के लिए उन्नत प्रशिक्षण, साइकोलॉजिकल वारफेयर, और काउंटर इंटेलिजेंस जैसे विषयों पर उत्कृष्ट प्रशिक्षण प्रदान करता है।
प्रशिक्षण पद्धतियों और तकनीकी विशेषज्ञता से रूबरू
अपने दो दिवसीय दौरे के दौरान, ब्राजील प्रतिनिधिमंडल को MINTSD के प्रशिक्षण बुनियादी ढांचे, कक्षाओं, तकनीकी सिमुलेशन उपकरणों और नवीनतम इंटेलिजेंस मॉड्यूल्स से परिचित कराया गया। प्रतिनिधिमंडल को यह भी दिखाया गया कि कैसे भारतीय सेना अपने इंटेलिजेंस अफसरों को कठिन भौगोलिक क्षेत्रों, आतंक प्रभावित इलाकों और साइबर-सुरक्षा जैसे क्षेत्रों में ऑपरेट करने के लिए तैयार करती है।
ब्राजीलियाई अफसरों ने खास रुचि AI (आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस), जियोस्पेशल इंटेलिजेंस और कंटेम्पररी वॉरफेयर के लिए इस्तेमाल हो रही भारतीय प्रणालियों में दिखाई।
यह दौरा भारत की सैन्य ट्रेनिंग क्षमताओं और वैश्विक रक्षा शिक्षा में उसके उभरते नेतृत्व को दर्शाता है।
कमांडेंट लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल देविंदर पाल सिंह से उच्च स्तरीय बातचीत
दौरे का सबसे महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा था प्रतिनिधिमंडल की बातचीत MINTSD के कमांडेंट लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल देविंदर पाल सिंह और फैकल्टी सदस्यों के साथ। दोनों पक्षों ने इंटेलिजेंस ऑपरेशनों, साइबर युद्ध, ह्यूमन इंटेलिजेंस और आतंकवाद से निपटने के रणनीतिक तरीकों पर विचार-विमर्श किया।
भारतीय अधिकारियों ने जम्मू-कश्मीर, पूर्वोत्तर भारत और सीमावर्ती क्षेत्रों में अपने अनुभव साझा किए। वहीं ब्राजील ने अमेजन जंगलों और संयुक्त राष्ट्र शांति अभियानों में उनकी भूमिकाओं पर जानकारी दी।
दोनों पक्षों ने द्विपक्षीय अभ्यास, प्रशिक्षण साझेदारी, और तकनीकी ज्ञान विनिमय को बढ़ाने पर सहमति जताई।
भारत-ब्राजील रक्षा साझेदारी की नई दिशा
यह दौरा भारत-ब्राजील रणनीतिक साझेदारी के तहत हो रही रक्षा सहयोग की व्यापक पहल का हिस्सा है। 2020 में इस साझेदारी को नई ऊंचाई दी गई थी, जिसके तहत सैन्य प्रशिक्षण, रक्षा उत्पादन, और इंटेलिजेंस सहयोग को बढ़ावा दिया जा रहा है।
भारत और ब्राजील दोनों G20 और BRICS के सदस्य हैं, और वैश्विक बहुध्रुवीयता, लोकतंत्र और शांति-आधारित सुरक्षा की वकालत करते हैं। यह दौरा दो महान लोकतंत्रों की सेनाओं के बीच विश्वास और रणनीतिक तालमेल को और मजबूत करता है।
सेना सूत्रों के अनुसार, भविष्य में अफसर विनिमय, इंटेलिजेंस सहयोग और तकनीकी शोध में साझेदारी की संभावनाएं भी तलाशी जाएंगी।
