       Jaipur, April 16. Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot said that Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development Project (RUIDP) has contributed a lot to the development of the State. Important projects such as drinking water and sewerage are being implemented at ground level in major cities of Rajasthan. He said that the State Government is committed to bringing the development works on ground level within the targetted time. Many projects under RUIDP have been completed before the deadline as per the intention of the Government and also ensure to complete all the current projects within the time frame. The development works should be constantly and minutely inspected and there should not be any compromise on quality.

Shri Gehlot was reviewing the development works managed under RUIDP at his official residence on Friday. He said that the works of the first and second phases in the project have been completed, while 86% of progress in the works of the third phase is good. He directed to complete the remaining works at the earliest along with making all possible efforts to bring the proposed works in the fourth phase on ground. He asked the officials to complete the works related to digging of roads before monsoon and ensure that roads are repaired so that waterlogging and accidents can be avoided during rains.

The Chief Minister asked the state officials to maintain continuous coordination with the officers of the Central Government for getting permission for the works under Asian Development Bank (ADB). He directed to make a strict law to ensure getting the work done by the registered contractor on time and to keep a check. He said that efforts should be made to complete the works under trench-2 in the fourth phase of RUIDP before the deadline.

Chief Minister lauds innovations

Shri Gehlot lauded innovations such as ‘New Technology of sewage treatment in areas of low water supply’, Artificial Intelligence technique for capacity augmentation of the sewage treatment plant’, Redressing the problem of foul odour at STPs and SPS’ and Smart Dynamic DMA technique for water supply for the first time in the world. He said that innovations in this field will give a new direction to the State.

Progress of 86% works in the third phase of RUIDP

RUIDP Project Director Shri Kumar Pal Gautam presented the progress report in his presentation. He said that in the third phase, the development works are being carried out in 12 cities. There are 14 works, cost of which is Rs 3490 crore. So far, the physical progress has been around 86%.

Sewerage and water supply works will be completed in 6 cities by December 2022

He said that 14 works in 14 cities are being carried out under the first trench of the fourth phase. It will cost Rs 3076 crore. The work of water supply in Lakshmangarh will be completed by June 2022, while the sewerage work in Fatehpur and Pratapgarh and works of sewerage and water supply in Abu Road, Sirohi and Sardarshahar will be completed by December 2022. The sewerage and water supply works in the remaining 8 cities will be completed by October 2023.

54 works in 37 cities at Rs 2100 crore

As many as 54 works are in progress in 37 cities in RUIDP’s fourth phase (second trench) in the State at a cost of Rs 2100 crore. The works including water supply, sewerage, faecal sludge treatment and urban beautification will be done under this project. At present, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of works of Rs 1355 crore has been approved by the Asian Development Bank.

Connection to houses in water supply and sewerage works

Connections to houses in water supply and sewerage works have been made as part of the project. With this, the beneficiary will not have to pay money for the connection. Payment of O&M amount of STP, lines etc has been included in the project till the tenure of the loan. With this, the financial burden of operation and maintenance will reduce on the urban bodies. Giving priority to the works of road repair, tar roads up to 7 metres and cement concrete roads up to 4 metres will be made in full width.

Local Self Government Minister Shri Shanti Dhariwal, Chief Secretary Smt Usha Sharma, Principal Secretary Finance Shri Akhil Arora, Local Self Government Secretary Shri Joga Ram and other senior officers were present at the meeting.
