DSSC Hosts Innovative CIAT Capsule for Aspiring Military Leaders

The CIAT capsule is part of DSSC’s ongoing efforts to modernize and enhance the strategic thinking abilities of its officers, ensuring they are well-prepared to lead in complex and challenging environments.

The Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) in Wellington conducted a dynamic two-day training capsule on Creative, Analytical, and Innovative Thinking (CIAT) from July 2 to July 3, 2024. The capsule was designed to equip the future leaders of the Indian Armed Forces, currently undergoing the 80th Staff Course, as well as DSSC faculty, with cutting-edge skills in innovative thinking.

This educational initiative featured a lineup of subject matter experts who delivered comprehensive lectures on various aspects of creativity and innovation. Dr. Pavan Bhattad opened the sessions with an in-depth look at the role and science of thinking, specifically focusing on creative thinking processes. Following him, Dr. Pavan Soni explored the principles of Design Thinking, an approach that fosters user-centric problem solving and innovation.

Mr. Madan Pilluttla discussed the crucial role of creativity in team building, interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, and negotiation, providing practical insights for effective leadership. Dr. Radhakrishnan Pillai offered his perspectives on enhancing creative thinking capabilities, while Brigadier Ranju Kuriance emphasized the importance of team building in military operations. Dr. Himanshu Rai wrapped up the sessions with a talk on unlocking global potential through innovation and resilience, particularly focusing on India’s path on the global stage.
