EXERCISE BOLD KURUKSHETRA 2025 KICKS OFF IN JODHPUR: INDIA AND SINGAPORE STRENGTHEN DEFENCE BONDS THROUGH MECHANISED WARFARE DRILLS

In a powerful display of regional defence cooperation and strategic military synergy, the 14th edition of Exercise Bold Kurukshetra 2025 between the Indian Army and the Singapore Armed Forces commenced today in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The prestigious bilateral training engagement will continue till 04 August 2025, and aims to foster greater operational coordination and inter-army understanding under the larger ambit of a United Nations peacekeeping scenario.
Joint Military Synergy Between Two Strategic Partners
Exercise Bold Kurukshetra has long stood as a pillar of India–Singapore military cooperation. First initiated in 2005, the annual exercise has steadily evolved into a high-value engagement between the mechanised elements of both countries’ armies. The 2025 edition is being conducted as a Table Top Exercise (TTX) and Computer-Based Wargame (CBW) — a format chosen to simulate realistic battlefield conditions and enhance decision-making and doctrinal validation in mechanised warfare.
Participating Formations and Leadership
This year, the Singapore Armed Forces have deployed their elite 42 Singapore Armoured Regiment, part of the 4 Singapore Armoured Brigade, while the Indian Army is represented by the Mechanised Infantry Regiment, one of the most battle-hardened and forward-deployed arms of India’s land forces.
The Indian contingent is being led by Colonel Arjun Ganapathi, Commanding Officer of the Mechanised Infantry Regiment, whereas the Singaporean contingent is under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Khiew Zhi Yoong, the Battalion Commander of the 42 Singapore Armoured Regiment.
In the spirit of mutual respect and shared responsibilities, the opening ceremony witnessed a ceremonial handover of the Regimental Flag by the 42 Singapore Armoured Regiment to the Indian side — a tradition that symbolises the formal transfer of operational command for the duration of the exercise.
Senior Leadership in Attendance
The opening ceremony was graced by senior military commanders from both countries. Brigadier Pritam, Commander of the 340 (Independent) Mechanised Brigade, represented the Indian Army’s higher command, while Colonel Wong Zeng Yu, Commander of the 4 Singapore Armoured Brigade, was the chief guest from Singapore. Their presence underscored the importance accorded to the exercise by both military establishments.
Training Objectives and Tactical Focus
The exercise is designed to validate standard operating procedures (SOPs) and command decisions under simulated combat conditions involving mechanised forces. The format enables commanders and staff officers from both sides to share best practices, assess battlefield dynamics in real time, and prepare for joint operations under UN-mandated missions.
The high-tech Computer-Based Wargaming environment allows for real-time battlefield modelling, integrating elements such as armoured manoeuvre warfare, force projection, logistics chain management, intelligence gathering, and communication resilience.
India-Singapore Defence Relations: A Strategic Arc
Exercise Bold Kurukshetra forms an integral part of the robust India–Singapore Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) signed in 2015 and subsequently renewed in 2020. The DCA allows the Singapore Armed Forces to conduct training exercises on Indian soil, thus highlighting India’s centrality to Southeast Asia’s security dynamics.
Over the years, this has facilitated the conduct of multiple bilateral and multilateral exercises, including SIMBEX (naval) and Agni Warrior (artillery). India remains a preferred strategic partner for Singapore given its geographic proximity, democratic values, mutual threat perceptions, and a growing maritime convergence in the Indo-Pacific.
Equipment Display and Future Scope
The culmination of the exercise will feature an equipment display showcasing some of the Indian Army’s latest indigenous platforms and systems. Sources indicate the display will include BMP-II Sarath IFVs, DRDO-developed simulation tools, battlefield surveillance systems, and terrain dominance sensors developed under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
Such platforms reflect India’s push for defence self-reliance and offer avenues for future collaboration, not just in terms of training but also in technology sharing and defence industrial cooperation.
Looking Ahead: Consolidating Military Diplomacy
As global strategic equations continue to shift, military exercises such as Bold Kurukshetra play a vital role in establishing confidence-building measures, deterrence posturing, and strategic trust among friendly nations. With China’s expanding footprint in the Indo-Pacific, India and Singapore have increasingly found common cause in maintaining rules-based order, ensuring secure sea lanes of communication, and engaging in capacity building for third countries.
Exercise Bold Kurukshetra 2025 is a reaffirmation of that commitment — a bold stride forward in the choreography of joint readiness, strategic cooperation, and Indo-Pacific stability.
जोधपुर में शुरू हुआ एक्सरसाइज़ बोल्ड कुरुक्षेत्र 2025: भारत-सिंगापुर के सैन्य संबंधों में नया आयाम

भारत और सिंगापुर के बीच होने वाला संयुक्त सैन्य अभ्यास ‘एक्सरसाइज़ बोल्ड कुरुक्षेत्र 2025’ आज जोधपुर में शुरू हो गया। यह अभ्यास 4 अगस्त 2025 तक चलेगा और दोनों सेनाओं के मैकेनाइज़्ड तत्वों को संयुक्त राष्ट्र के मानदंडों के तहत संयुक्त युद्ध तैयारी और रणनीति अभ्यास का अवसर देगा।
रणनीतिक साझेदारी की मिसाल बना अभ्यास
यह अभ्यास भारत और सिंगापुर के बीच मजबूत होते रक्षा संबंधों का स्पष्ट प्रतीक है। 2005 से शुरू हुआ यह सैन्य अभ्यास अब अपने 14वें संस्करण में प्रवेश कर चुका है और अब इसे उच्च स्तरीय रणनीतिक सहयोग का अभ्यास माना जाता है।
भागीदारी करने वाले सैन्य दल
इस वर्ष सिंगापुर ने अपने 42 सिंगापुर आर्मर्ड रेजिमेंट को भेजा है जो 4 सिंगापुर आर्मर्ड ब्रिगेड का हिस्सा है, जबकि भारत की ओर से मैकेनाइज़्ड इन्फैंट्री रेजिमेंट इस अभ्यास में भाग ले रही है।
कर्नल अर्जुन गणपति भारतीय दल का नेतृत्व कर रहे हैं, जबकि सिंगापुर की ओर से लेफ्टिनेंट कर्नल खियू ज़ी योंग अपने दल के कमांडर हैं।
एक प्रतीकात्मक समारोह में 42 सिंगापुर आर्मर्ड रेजिमेंट ने भारतीय रेजिमेंट को अपना ध्वज सौंपा, जो कमांड ट्रांसफर का प्रतीक है।
वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों की उपस्थिति
उद्घाटन समारोह में दोनों देशों के वरिष्ठ सैन्य अधिकारी मौजूद रहे। भारत की ओर से 340 (स्वतंत्र) मैकेनाइज़्ड ब्रिगेड के कमांडर ब्रिगेडियर प्रीतम उपस्थित थे, जबकि सिंगापुर से कर्नल वोंग ज़ेंग यू, 4 सिंगापुर आर्मर्ड ब्रिगेड के कमांडर, मुख्य अतिथि थे।
टेबल टॉप एक्सरसाइज़ और कंप्यूटर बेस्ड वॉरगेम
यह अभ्यास Table Top Exercise (TTX) और Computer-Based Wargame (CBW) के रूप में किया जा रहा है, जिसका उद्देश्य संयुक्त राष्ट्र मिशन पर आधारित युद्ध-परिस्थितियों का अभ्यास करना है। इसमें युद्ध रणनीति, संचार, लॉजिस्टिक्स, खुफिया जानकारी और जमीनी कार्रवाई का संयोजन किया जाएगा।
भारत-सिंगापुर रक्षा सहयोग: बढ़ती मजबूती
यह अभ्यास भारत-सिंगापुर रक्षा सहयोग समझौते (DCA) का अहम हिस्सा है जो 2015 में हुआ था और 2020 में नवीनीकरण हुआ। सिंगापुर को भारतीय क्षेत्र पर अभ्यास की अनुमति इसी समझौते के तहत प्राप्त है।
इसके अलावा, SIMBEX (नौसेना अभ्यास) और Agni Warrior (तोपखाना अभ्यास) भी भारत-सिंगापुर सहयोग का हिस्सा रहे हैं। दोनों देशों के बीच हिंद-प्रशांत क्षेत्र में रणनीतिक दृष्टिकोण, लोकतांत्रिक मूल्यों, और साझा सुरक्षा चिंताओं को लेकर घनिष्ठता बढ़ी है।
समापन पर सैन्य उपकरणों का प्रदर्शन
अभ्यास के अंत में भारतीय सेना के स्वदेशी प्लेटफॉर्म्स और उपकरणों की एक प्रदर्शनी भी आयोजित की जाएगी। इसमें BMP-II सारथ, DRDO के सिमुलेशन टूल्स, निगरानी प्रणाली, और स्वदेशी युद्ध उपकरण शामिल होंगे।
