Forging the Next Generation of Firepower Leaders: Medium Machine Gun & AGL Course Concludes at Infantry School Mhow
Junior Leaders from India and Friendly Foreign Countries demonstrate exceptional proficiency in company support weapon systems
Mhow | New Delhi | October 2025 — Training grounds echoed with thunderous gunfire and resolute determination as another remarkable chapter concluded at the prestigious Infantry School in Mhow, the cradle of India’s infantry leadership and doctrinal excellence. On 26 October 2025, the Medium Machine Gun (MMG) and Automatic Grenade Launcher (AGL) Course for Junior Leaders came to a ceremonious end, marking an important milestone not only for Indian Army personnel, but also for soldiers representing India’s close defence partners.
This flagship course witnessed the participation of seven Junior Leaders from Friendly Foreign Countries including Bhutan, Botswana and the Maldives, symbolising India’s growing role as a hub of military capacity-building and regional security cooperation. The integration of international personnel brought fresh operational experiences into the training arena, fostering tactical learning, camaraderie and shared commitment toward peace and security.
Training for Modern Battlefields
The curriculum was designed to transform soldiers into confident and technically adept battlefield leaders proficient in employing Medium Machine Guns and Automatic Grenade Launcher systems at company and platoon levels. These weapon systems represent the backbone of infantry fire support during offensive and defensive operations, delivering suppressive fire, area denial capability and battlefield momentum.
Throughout the course, trainees underwent intense drills that included:
• Night firing exercises under battlefield simulation
• Tactical deployment in desert, jungle and built-up terrain
• Quick reaction tactics and coordination with assault detachments
• Stress shooting under combat fatigue
• Maintenance, troubleshooting and sustained fire operations
Each session was crafted to replicate the toughest operational scenarios seen along India’s varied borders, counter-terrorism theatres and United Nations missions abroad.

The atmosphere brimmed with pride as instructors highlighted that such distinctions reflect months of discipline, sweat and undeterred commitment to surpass the limits of ordinary soldiering.
A Hub of Battlefield Innovation & Leadership
Infantry School Mhow stands tall as the Indian Army’s premier institution for infantry training, doctrine development and cutting-edge tactical experimentation. Generations of soldiers who trained here have gone on to lead crucial operations — from LOC engagements to desert warfare and United Nations’ peacekeeping assignments.
The participation from Bhutan, Botswana and Maldives underscores the trust placed in India’s military pedagogy and capability development model. महू | नई दिल्ली | अक्टूबर 2025 — भारतीय थलसेना की पैदल सेना की रीढ़ कही जाने वाली इकाइयों को मजबूत बनाने की दिशा में एक और ऐतिहासिक पड़ाव दर्ज हो गया है। मध्य प्रदेश के महू स्थित प्रतिष्ठित इन्फैंट्री स्कूल में 26 अक्टूबर 2025 को मीडियम मशीन गन (MMG) और ऑटोमैटिक ग्रेनेड लॉन्चर (AGL) कोर्स का सफलतापूर्वक समापन हुआ। यह गौरवपूर्ण क्षण केवल भारतीय सैनिकों के लिए नहीं, बल्कि उन मित्र राष्ट्रों के जवानों के लिए भी था जो युद्धक्षेत्र में अपनी क्षमताओं को उन्नत करने भारत आए थे।
