Prosecutors Alex Cárdenas and Adrian Kinsella from the U.S. Attorney’s Office are handling the federal case, reflecting the seriousness with which the Department of Justice views the matter.
Sentencing Timeline and Potential Punishment
Singh remains in federal custody and is scheduled to be sentenced on May 11, 2026, by U.S. District Judge Dale A. Drozd. शुरुआत में जशनप्रीत सिंह पर सैन जोआक्विन काउंटी में राज्य स्तर के मामले दर्ज किए गए थे। लेकिन 21 जुलाई 2025 को वह अदालत में पेश नहीं हुआ, जिसके बाद उसके खिलाफ बेंच वारंट जारी किया गया। जांच के दौरान 23 जुलाई 2025 को FBI को अमेरिकी कस्टम्स एंड बॉर्डर प्रोटेक्शन से सूचना मिली कि जशनप्रीत ने भारत के लिए टिकट बुक कराया है और 26 जुलाई 2025 को सैन फ्रांसिस्को इंटरनेशनल एयरपोर्ट से देश छोड़ने वाला था। तय तारीख को FBI और अन्य एजेंसियों ने एयरपोर्ट पर उसे गिरफ्तार कर लिया, जिससे उसकी फरारी की योजना विफल हो गई।
