General Upendra Dwivedi Reviews Joint Operational Preparedness in Bhuj; To Visit Bikaner on October 2–3
Bhuj/Bikaner, October 1, 2025: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Upendra Dwivedi, today visited the Air Force Station Bhuj where he was given a comprehensive briefing on operational preparedness and the seamless synergy between the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force in the region. His visit comes at a time when the western theatre has been witnessing heightened joint exercises, tactical reviews and renewed emphasis on integrated responses to emerging threats.
During the visit, the Army Chief interacted extensively with officers, air warriors and ground staff of the Indian Air Force. He lauded their professionalism, discipline, and the unwavering spirit of jointmanship that has become the bedrock of modern Indian military doctrine. General Dwivedi commended the IAF personnel for their selfless service towards the nation, not only in combat readiness but also in contributing to national development through their dedication and resilience.
Reinforcing Jointmanship in the Western Theatre
The western front, encompassing Gujarat and Rajasthan sectors, remains critical for India’s strategic posture given its proximity to sensitive borders. Bhuj has historically been an important hub for IAF operations, particularly in the 1971 Indo-Pak war where it played a decisive role. General Dwivedi’s review at Bhuj underlines the emphasis being placed on closer Army-IAF coordination in desert and semi-arid battle zones.
The Army Chief was apprised of the joint training protocols, air-land integration drills, and operational coordination mechanisms that have been put in place to ensure quick response in case of any contingency. The briefing also highlighted the seamless communication grid and support systems that integrate surveillance, intelligence inputs, and real-time battlefield coordination.
Focus on Emerging Threats and Technology Integration
General Dwivedi’s visit also focused on preparedness against modern hybrid threats—ranging from drone intrusions to cyber-enabled targeting of military infrastructure. The synergy between Army formations and IAF assets in this sector has been steadily enhanced with the deployment of integrated air defence systems, surveillance radars, and precision strike platforms.
The Chief emphasised that future wars will demand rapid decision-making, faster mobilization, and uncompromising coordination between different arms of the military. He urged both services to continue adopting cutting-edge technologies, artificial intelligence-driven battlefield management systems, and space-based communication tools to stay ahead of adversaries.
Interaction and Morale Building
In his interaction, General Dwivedi conveyed deep appreciation for the IAF ranks and reminded them that their contribution to national security goes beyond operational readiness. He stressed that the men and women in uniform are also role models in society, embodying discipline, patriotism and integrity that inspire the youth of the country.
The visit ended with the Army Chief acknowledging the sacrifices made by the armed forces community and reiterating the government’s commitment to strengthening joint operational capabilities.
Upcoming Visit to Bikaner: Strategic Desert Sector Review
Following his tour of Bhuj, General Dwivedi is scheduled to visit Bikaner on October 2 and 3, 2025, where he will remain stationed for two days. This visit is being closely watched as Bikaner holds immense strategic significance in the desert theatre. It is home to key formations of the 24 Division Bikaner and lies in close proximity to sensitive stretches along the international border.
During his stay, the Army Chief is expected to conduct a high-level review of operational preparedness in coordination with the Indian Air Force and the Border Security Force (BSF). The visit will also include interactions with troops deployed in forward areas, as well as on-ground assessments of readiness under the harsh desert conditions.
Sources indicate that General Dwivedi may also review integrated drills under Operation Sindoor, the tri-service preparedness framework focusing on the western desert sector. Special emphasis is likely to be placed on surveillance capabilities, forward logistics, and the use of indigenous weapon systems under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
Symbolism of the Visit
The back-to-back visits to Bhuj and Bikaner by the Army Chief reflect India’s sharpened focus on the western front at a time when the regional security landscape remains volatile. With Pakistan continuing to grapple with internal instability and Chinese activities expanding under the CPEC framework in bordering areas, India’s military preparedness in the desert theatre assumes crucial importance.
General Dwivedi’s presence in Bikaner will not only boost troop morale but also signal India’s resolve to remain vigilant and combat-ready across all domains—land, air, cyber and space.

भुज/बीकानेर, 1 अक्टूबर 2025: थलसेनाध्यक्ष (COAS) जनरल उपेन्द्र द्विवेदी ने आज एयर फोर्स स्टेशन भुज का दौरा किया, जहाँ उन्हें क्षेत्र में परिचालनिक तैयारियों और भारतीय सेना तथा वायुसेना के बीच तालमेल की जानकारी दी गई। यह दौरा ऐसे समय पर हुआ है जब पश्चिमी मोर्चे पर संयुक्त अभ्यासों, सामरिक समीक्षा और उभरते खतरों से निपटने के लिए एकीकृत प्रतिक्रिया पर विशेष बल दिया जा रहा है।
भ्रमण के दौरान थलसेनाध्यक्ष ने वायुसेना के अधिकारियों, एयर वारियर्स और ग्राउंड स्टाफ से मुलाकात की। उन्होंने उनके पेशेवराना रवैये, अनुशासन और संयुक्तता की उस अटूट भावना की सराहना की, जो आधुनिक भारतीय सैन्य सिद्धांत की आधारशिला बन चुकी है। जनरल द्विवेदी ने वायुसेना के जवानों की न केवल युद्धक तत्परता बल्कि राष्ट्रनिर्माण में उनकी निस्वार्थ सेवा और योगदान को भी सलाम किया।
पश्चिमी मोर्चे पर संयुक्तता की मज़बूती
गुजरात और राजस्थान का पश्चिमी क्षेत्र सामरिक दृष्टि से अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण माना जाता है क्योंकि यह संवेदनशील अंतरराष्ट्रीय सीमा के निकट स्थित है। 1971 के भारत-पाक युद्ध में भुज एयरबेस ने निर्णायक भूमिका निभाई थी और आज भी यह वायुसेना का अहम केंद्र बना हुआ है। जनरल द्विवेदी का यह दौरा सेना और वायुसेना के बीच रेगिस्तानी और अर्ध-शुष्क युद्धक्षेत्रों में समन्वय को और मजबूत करने की दिशा में एक बड़ा संकेत है।
थलसेनाध्यक्ष को संयुक्त प्रशिक्षण, वायु-स्थल एकीकरण अभ्यास और आपसी समन्वय की व्यवस्थाओं के बारे में जानकारी दी गई, ताकि किसी भी आकस्मिक स्थिति में त्वरित प्रतिक्रिया दी जा सके। उन्हें बताया गया कि कैसे निगरानी, खुफिया इनपुट और वास्तविक समय की युद्धक्षेत्रीय सूचना को एकीकृत ढांचे के माध्यम से साझा किया जा रहा है।
उभरते खतरों और तकनीकी एकीकरण पर फोकस
जनरल द्विवेदी ने अपने दौरे में इस बात पर भी जोर दिया कि भविष्य के युद्ध ड्रोन घुसपैठ, साइबर हमलों और हाइब्रिड खतरों से भरे होंगे। ऐसे में सेना और वायुसेना का संयुक्त प्रयास अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है। इस क्षेत्र में पहले से ही एकीकृत वायु रक्षा प्रणालियाँ, निगरानी राडार और सटीक मारक हथियार तैनात किए जा चुके हैं।
उन्होंने सैनिकों से कहा कि आने वाले समय में युद्ध की सफलता तेज़ निर्णय लेने, तेज़ी से संसाधनों की तैनाती और आपसी तालमेल पर निर्भर करेगी। इसके लिए आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस, बैटलफील्ड मैनेजमेंट सिस्टम और स्पेस आधारित संचार साधनों को तेजी से अपनाना ज़रूरी है।
जवानों से संवाद और मनोबल वृद्धि
वायुसेना कर्मियों से संवाद करते हुए थलसेनाध्यक्ष ने कहा कि उनकी भूमिका केवल सुरक्षा तक सीमित नहीं है, बल्कि वे पूरे समाज के लिए अनुशासन और देशभक्ति के प्रतीक हैं। उन्होंने जवानों को उनके त्याग और समर्पण के लिए बधाई दी और आश्वस्त किया कि सरकार उनकी क्षमताओं को और मजबूत बनाने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है।
बीकानेर का दौरा: मरुस्थलीय क्षेत्र की रणनीतिक समीक्षा
भुज दौरे के बाद जनरल द्विवेदी 2 और 3 अक्टूबर 2025 को बीकानेर में रहेंगे। यह दौरा इसलिए भी महत्वपूर्ण माना जा रहा है क्योंकि बीकानेर मरुस्थलीय युद्धक क्षेत्र में भारतीय सेना की अग्रिम तैयारियों का केंद्र है। यहाँ 24 डिवीजन बीकानेर की अहम तैनाती है और यह पाकिस्तान सीमा के बेहद करीब स्थित है।
अपनी यात्रा के दौरान वे भारतीय सेना, भारतीय वायुसेना और सीमा सुरक्षा बल (BSF) के साथ संयुक्त समीक्षा करेंगे। थलसेनाध्यक्ष सीमा से लगे अग्रिम चौकियों का निरीक्षण करेंगे और रेगिस्तानी परिस्थितियों में परिचालनिक तैयारियों का जायजा लेंगे।
सूत्रों के अनुसार, इस दौरान वे ऑपरेशन सिंदूर के तहत किए गए अभ्यासों की समीक्षा भी कर सकते हैं। खासकर निगरानी क्षमता, लॉजिस्टिक सपोर्ट और आत्मनिर्भर भारत पहल के तहत स्वदेशी हथियार प्रणालियों की भूमिका पर जोर दिया जाएगा।
दौरे का सामरिक महत्व
भुज और बीकानेर के लगातार दौरों से यह स्पष्ट है कि भारतीय सेना पश्चिमी मोर्चे पर अपनी तैयारियों को और धारदार बना रही है। पाकिस्तान की आंतरिक अस्थिरता और चीन-पाक आर्थिक गलियारे (CPEC) से जुड़ी गतिविधियों को देखते हुए, इस क्षेत्र की सामरिक अहमियत और बढ़ जाती है।
जनरल द्विवेदी का यह दौरा न केवल सैनिकों का मनोबल बढ़ाएगा बल्कि यह भी संकेत देगा कि भारत सभी क्षेत्रों—भूमि, वायु, साइबर और अंतरिक्ष—में किसी भी चुनौती से निपटने के लिए तैयार है।
