India-UAE Naval Partnership Strengthens: UAE Navy Chief Maj Gen Alremeithi on Official Visit to India

In a significant diplomatic and defence engagement, Major General Humaid Mohammed Abdullah Alremeithi, Commander of the United Arab Emirates Naval Forces, is on an official visit to India from 07 to 09 July 2025, reinforcing the growing strategic partnership between the two nations, particularly in the maritime domain.
A Tribute to India’s Martyrs at the National War Memorial
Maj Gen Alremeithi commenced his visit by paying homage at the National War Memorial in New Delhi on 08 July. The solemn wreath-laying ceremony stood as a gesture of deep respect towards Indian soldiers who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. The UAE Naval Chief’s tribute reflects the mutual respect and camaraderie shared by the armed forces of India and the UAE.
Ceremonial Welcome and High-Level Talks
Following the memorial ceremony, a ceremonial Guard of Honour was accorded to Maj Gen Alremeithi, showcasing traditional Indian military hospitality. The UAE Navy Chief then held a bilateral meeting with Admiral R Hari Kumar’s successor – Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS).
During the interaction, both sides discussed avenues to expand naval cooperation, with a focus on:
- Structured training engagements
- Enhanced operational interoperability
- Joint maritime domain awareness
- Counter-piracy and freedom of navigation operations in the Indian Ocean Region
India and UAE, both crucial stakeholders in the maritime security of the IOR, reiterated their commitment to a rules-based international maritime order, free from coercion and open to all.
Interaction with General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff
Maj Gen Alremeithi also met with General Anil Chauhan, India’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). The meeting covered broader strategic cooperation, with emphasis on tri-service interoperability, defence industry collaboration, and regional security challenges, especially in the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Aden.
India’s rising stature as a regional maritime power, combined with UAE’s geostrategic location, makes this bilateral defence dialogue highly significant. Both countries are keen to deepen engagement through joint exercises, port calls, ship visits, and collaborative capability development.
Strategic Context: India-UAE Defence Ties on the Rise
This visit follows a series of high-level military exchanges between India and UAE in recent years. Notably:
- The two navies regularly participate in bilateral naval exercises such as Zayed Talwar.
- Indian Navy ships have frequently made friendly port calls in UAE.
- UAE has shown interest in India’s growing indigenous defence manufacturing under the Make in India initiative.
India views the UAE as a key partner in its Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR) vision, and this visit is another major stride in consolidating defence ties, especially in the maritime sphere.
As India expands its naval diplomacy footprint, visits such as these underscore the mutual commitment to maintaining peace, security, and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and West Asian waters.

भारत और यूएई की नौसेनाओं में बढ़ती साझेदारी: यूएई नौसेना प्रमुख मेजर जनरल अलरमैथी की भारत यात्रा

भारत और संयुक्त अरब अमीरात (यूएई) के बीच रणनीतिक और सैन्य सहयोग को मजबूत करने के तहत यूएई नेवल फोर्सेस के कमांडर मेजर जनरल हुमैद मोहम्मद अब्दुल्ला अलरमैथी 07 से 09 जुलाई 2025 तक भारत की आधिकारिक यात्रा पर हैं। इस यात्रा का उद्देश्य द्विपक्षीय नौसैनिक सहयोग को और गहरा करना है, विशेषकर हिंद महासागर क्षेत्र में साझा हितों को बढ़ावा देना।
नेशनल वॉर मेमोरियल पर शहीदों को श्रद्धांजलि
मेजर जनरल अलरमैथी ने 08 जुलाई को अपनी भारत यात्रा की शुरुआत नई दिल्ली स्थित नेशनल वॉर मेमोरियल पर पुष्पांजलि अर्पित कर की। इस भावभीनी श्रद्धांजलि ने भारतीय शहीदों के प्रति यूएई की सेना की गहरी संवेदना और सम्मान को दर्शाया।
गार्ड ऑफ ऑनर और उच्च स्तरीय बैठकें
इसके बाद उन्हें गार्ड ऑफ ऑनर दिया गया। इसके पश्चात भारतीय नौसेना प्रमुख एडमिरल दिनेश के त्रिपाठी के साथ उनकी द्विपक्षीय बैठक हुई, जिसमें दोनों देशों के बीच नौसैनिक प्रशिक्षण, संचालनिक समन्वय और समुद्री क्षेत्र में सहयोग बढ़ाने पर चर्चा हुई।
बैठक के दौरान इन प्रमुख विषयों पर चर्चा हुई:
- संयुक्त नौसैनिक अभ्यास और प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम
- हिंद महासागर क्षेत्र में साझा समुद्री जागरूकता
- नौसैनिक प्रौद्योगिकी और जहाज निर्माण में सहयोग
- समुद्री सुरक्षा, आतंकवाद और समुद्री डकैती के खिलाफ संयुक्त रणनीति
चीफ ऑफ डिफेंस स्टाफ जनरल अनिल चौहान से भी मुलाकात
यूएई नौसेना प्रमुख ने भारत के चीफ ऑफ डिफेंस स्टाफ जनरल अनिल चौहान से भी मुलाकात की। बातचीत में त्रि-सेना समन्वय, रक्षा उत्पादन, और क्षेत्रीय समुद्री चुनौतियों पर भी विस्तार से विचार-विमर्श हुआ।
भारत की SAGAR नीति (सुरक्षा और सभी के लिए क्षेत्रीय विकास) में यूएई की अहम भूमिका है, और यह यात्रा इसी साझेदारी को सशक्त करने की दिशा में एक प्रमुख कदम है।
रणनीतिक परिप्रेक्ष्य: भारत-यूएई रक्षा संबंधों को नई ऊंचाई
हाल के वर्षों में भारत और यूएई के बीच सैन्य आदान-प्रदान और रक्षा सहयोग में उल्लेखनीय वृद्धि हुई है:
- दोनों देश Zayed Talwar जैसे द्विपक्षीय नौसैनिक अभ्यास करते रहे हैं।
- भारतीय नौसेना के जहाज़ यूएई के बंदरगाहों पर नियमित दौरे करते हैं।
- यूएई, भारत की ‘मेक इन इंडिया’ नीति के तहत स्वदेशी रक्षा उपकरणों में रुचि भी दिखा चुका है।
