INDIAN ARMY CELEBRATES WORLD ATHLETICS DAY
IN NORTH EASTERN STATES

Indian Army commemorated World Athletics Day – 2024, in the North-Eastern states with sports and patriotic fervor showcasing commitment to promoting athleticism, camaraderie and a healthy lifestyle among the youth.

In Daisajan, Jagun, and Margherita area of Assam, over 200 local students and youth participated in various Athletics competitions including 100m race, 200m race, 400m relay race, 1200m race, long jump, high jump, shot put, and javelin throw. The participants were felicitated with prizes at the end of the events.

Simultaneously, in Manipur, Athletics Meet was hosted at Maa Foundation School in T Loklaphai, Churachandpur. Enthusiastic participation of around 70 students in events such as the 100m race, 400m race, 50m Relay Race, and Sack race showcased the spirit of healthy competition and sportsmanship. Prizes including school bags, stationary kits and sports equipments for indoor games were distributed.

Additionally, in Imphal East district of Manipur, Indian Army personnel celebrated World Athletics Day with locals in Island Village. The youth actively participated in track and field events, alongwith a friendly Volleyball match, promoting an active and healthier lifestyle among the local community.

These initiatives underscore the Indian Army’s commitment to foster a culture of sportsmanship, physical fitness, and camaraderie among youth across the region.
