A critically injured Iranian fisherman aboard the fishing dhow Al-Owais was saved through rapid coordination, precision seamanship and unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives beyond borders.
Sudden Explosion Turns the Sea Hostile
The distress unfolded when a mishap during fuel transfer to the vessel’s generator triggered an explosion, leaving one of the five crew members seriously wounded. The victim sustained severe injuries to both eyes along with deep lacerations on his right ear, rendering him in urgent need of specialized medical intervention.
The situation worsened as the dhow suffered an engine breakdown, leaving it helplessly adrift in the middle of the ocean, far from land-based assistance and beyond normal search-and-rescue ranges.
A Race Against Time: Help Requested Across Nations
The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Mumbai received the urgent medical alert from MRCC Chabahar in Iran. Responding with professional immediacy, MRCC Mumbai activated the International Safety Net System, signalling distress alert to vessels operating in the vicinity and initiating coordinated multinational rescue support.
The call for help compelled the Indian Coast Guard to step into its role as a regional guardian, acting decisively without hesitation.
Allies At Sea: A Commercial Tanker Joins The Effort
ICG Ship Sachet, returning from an overseas goodwill deployment to East African countries, was redeployed and vectored towards the helpless fishing dhow. Alongside, MT STI Grace, a Marshall Islands-flagged tanker transiting from Kuwait to Moroni, responded swiftly to support the crisis.
After rendezvousing with Al-Owais in vast unforgiving waters, the crew of the tanker began administering tele-medical first aid. All treatment was performed under expert remote guidance from ICG medical professionals, stabilizing the injured fisherman enough to withstand sea movement and eventual transfer.
Seamless Mid-Sea Transfer with Tactical Precision
As conditions allowed, MT STI Grace maneuvered to meet Sachet at a pre-determined sea coordination point. The injured fisherman was safely shifted through professional seamanship and technical expertise in a high-risk transfer at sea.
Once onboard Sachet, specialized medical teams continued advanced treatment while ensuring close monitoring of his condition.
The Coast Guard ship is currently enroute to Goa, where the patient is expected to receive further medical care at a shore-based facility equipped for critical injuries.

**भारतीय तटरक्षक का 1500 किमी दूर सफल चिकित्सा बचाव अभियान
अरब सागर में फंसे ईरानी मछुआरे की जान बचाने में दिखाई दक्षता**
नई दिल्ली / अरब सागर — भारतीय तटरक्षक बल (Indian Coast Guard) ने एक लंबी दूरी के जटिल और संवेदनशील चिकित्सा बचाव अभियान को अंजाम देते हुए अरब सागर के बीचोंबीच गंभीर रूप से घायल एक ईरानी मछुआरे की जान बचाई। यह अभियान कोच्चि के पश्चिम में लगभग 1500 किलोमीटर दूर अंतरराष्ट्रीय समुद्री क्षेत्र में संचालित किया गया, जो भारतीय तटरक्षक की क्षमता और मानवीय दायित्व को स्पष्ट रूप से दर्शाता है।
ईंधन विस्फोट के कारण गंभीर चोट, इंजन फेल होकर बीच समुद्र में फँसी नाव
‘अल-ओवाइस’ नामक ईरानी फिशिंग धो में ईंधन हस्तांतरण के दौरान हुए विस्फोट में एक मछुआरे को दोनों आँखों में चोट लगी और दाहिने कान पर गहरी चोट आई। दुर्घटना के तुरंत बाद पोत का इंजन भी खराब हो गया, जिसके चलते पांच सदस्यीय चालक दल अंतरराष्ट्रीय जलक्षेत्र में फँस गया। घायल मछुआरे की स्थिति लगातार बिगड़ रही थी और उसे तत्काल चिकित्सकीय सहायता की आवश्यकता थी।
MRCC ईरान ने दी सूचना, MRCC मुंबई ने तुरंत शुरू की समन्वित कार्रवाई
मेडिकल इमरजेंसी संबंधी सूचना ईरान स्थित Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) चाबहार से MRCC मुंबई को प्राप्त हुई। सूचना मिलते ही MRCC मुंबई ने अंतरराष्ट्रीय समुद्री सुरक्षा तंत्र (International Safety Net) को सक्रिय कर आसपास सभी जहाजों को सतर्क किया तथा भारतीय तटरक्षक जहाजों को बचाव कार्रवाई हेतु निर्देशित किया।
ICG Ship Sachet और MT STI Grace ने मिलकर संभाला मोर्चा
इसी दौरान पूर्वी अफ्रीकी देशों से परिचालन पूरा कर लौट रहे भारतीय तटरक्षक जहाज ICG Ship Sachet को तुरंत सहायता हेतु निर्देशित किया गया। साथ ही, कुवैत से मोरोनी जा रहे मार्शल आइलैंड्स ध्वज वाले टैंकर MT STI Grace को भी आपात सहायता उपलब्ध कराने हेतु समन्वित किया गया।
टैंकर ने अल-ओवाइस तक पहुंचकर घायल को टेली-मेडिकल सहायता प्रदान की तथा ICG चिकित्सा अधिकारियों के निर्देशानुसार उसकी प्राथमिक स्थिति को स्थिर किया।
मध्य समुद्र में सुरक्षित स्थानांतरण, चिकित्सा देखभाल जारी
स्थिति नियंत्रण में आने के बाद MT STI Grace ने ICG Ship Sachet के साथ समुद्र में निर्धारित समन्वय बिंदु पर मुलाकात की, जहां पेशेवर दक्षता के साथ घायल मछुआरे को सुरक्षित रूप से स्थानांतरित किया गया।
ICG Ship Sachet पर भर्ती किए जाने के बाद मरीज को उन्नत चिकित्सा उपचार प्रदान किया जा रहा है। पोत घायल व्यक्ति को आगे की चिकित्सा आवश्यकताओं के लिए गोवा की ओर ले जा रहा है।
