Inter-Battalion Lawn Tennis Championship Hosted by 179th Battalion BSF – Bikaner Sector HQ Emerges Champion
Bikaner, Rajasthan | August 31 – In a spirited display of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and competitive excellence, the 179th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) successfully hosted the much-awaited Inter-Battalion Lawn Tennis Championship. The prestigious event brought together officers and personnel from different formations under the Bikaner sector, transforming the courts into a stage of athletic brilliance and professional discipline.
The tournament concluded with the Regional Headquarters BSF, Bikaner lifting the championship trophy, while the 179th Battalion BSF secured the runner-up position. The matches witnessed fierce yet friendly competition, reinforcing the BSF’s tradition of promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and morale through sporting events.
Highlights of the Tournament
Apart from the inter-battalion clashes, several open matches were also played, featuring thrilling performances from officers across the units.
- Open Singles: Assistant Commandant (Works) Shri Kailash Godara from Sector HQ BSF Bikaner emerged victorious, defeating Shri Babulal, Second-in-Command of the 179th Battalion BSF, who claimed the runner-up position.
- Open Doubles: The team of Shri Mahesh Chand Jat, Deputy Commandant, and Shri Kailash Godara, Assistant Commandant (Works), both from Sector HQ BSF Bikaner, clinched the title. The runner-up pair consisted of Shri Vikram Singh Kanwar, Commandant, and Shri Babulal, Second-in-Command, 179th Battalion BSF.
- Veteran Singles: In a remarkable display of resilience and experience, Shri Babulal, Second-in-Command of the 179th Battalion, emerged as the champion. Shri Vikram Singh Kanwar, Commandant of the same battalion, stood as the runner-up.
- Veteran Doubles: The pairing of Shri Vikram Singh Kanwar, Commandant, and Shri Mahesh Chand Jat, Deputy Commandant, secured the winner’s trophy, while the duo of Shri Ajay Luthra, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), and Shri Babulal, Second-in-Command, were declared runners-up.
Dignitaries and Closing Ceremony
The championship reached its grand conclusion under the presence of distinguished guests. Shri Ajay Luthra, DIG, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Shri N. M. Sharma, Commandant, Sector HQ BSF Bikaner, attended as the Guest of Honour. Their presence added prestige to the event and motivated participants with encouraging words on discipline, fitness, and unity within the BSF.

179वीं बटालियन सीमा सुरक्षा बल द्वारा आयोजित इंटर-बटालियन लॉन टेनिस प्रतियोगिता – बीकानेर सेक्टर मुख्यालय विजेता घोषित
बीकानेर, राजस्थान | 31 अगस्त – खेल भावना, भाईचारे और प्रतिस्पर्धी उत्कृष्टता का अद्भुत संगम देखने को मिला जब सीमा सुरक्षा बल (BSF) की 179वीं बटालियन ने इंटर-बटालियन लॉन टेनिस प्रतियोगिता का सफल आयोजन किया। बीकानेर सेक्टर के विभिन्न इकाइयों से आए अधिकारियों और जवानों ने टेनिस कोर्ट को अनुशासन और खेल प्रतिभा का मंच बना दिया।
प्रतियोगिता का खिताब सीमा सुरक्षा बल क्षेत्रीय मुख्यालय, बीकानेर ने अपने नाम किया, जबकि मेजबान 179वीं बटालियन सीमा सुरक्षा बल उपविजेता रही। इस दौरान खेले गए मैचों में जोश, संघर्ष और आपसी मित्रता का शानदार उदाहरण देखने को मिला।
प्रतियोगिता की मुख्य झलकियाँ
इंटर-बटालियन मुकाबलों के अलावा कई ओपन मैच भी खेले गए, जिनमें अधिकारियों ने शानदार खेल प्रदर्शन किया।
- ओपन सिंगल्स: सेक्टर मुख्यालय बीकानेर के सहायक कमांडेंट (वर्क्स) श्री कैलाश गोदारा विजेता रहे, जबकि 179वीं बटालियन के द्वितीय कमान अधिकारी श्री बाबूलाल उपविजेता बने।
- ओपन डबल्स: सेक्टर मुख्यालय बीकानेर के उप कमांडेंट श्री महेश चन्द जाट एवं सहायक कमांडेंट (वर्क्स) श्री कैलाश गोदारा की जोड़ी विजेता रही। उपविजेता की ट्रॉफी 179वीं बटालियन के कमांडेंट श्री विक्रम सिंह कँवर और द्वितीय कमान अधिकारी श्री बाबूलाल ने जीती।
- वेटरन सिंगल्स: 179वीं बटालियन के द्वितीय कमान अधिकारी श्री बाबूलाल विजेता रहे, जबकि कमांडेंट श्री विक्रम सिंह कँवर उपविजेता बने।
- वेटरन डबल्स: कमांडेंट श्री विक्रम सिंह कँवर और उप कमांडेंट श्री महेश चन्द जाट विजेता घोषित हुए। उपविजेता की श्रेणी में उप महानिरीक्षक श्री अजय लुथरा एवं द्वितीय कमान अधिकारी श्री बाबूलाल की जोड़ी रही।
मुख्य अतिथि एवं समापन समारोह
समापन समारोह में उप महानिरीक्षक श्री अजय लुथरा मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में उपस्थित रहे, जबकि श्री एन. एम. शर्मा, कमांडेंट, सेक्टर मुख्यालय बीकानेर ने विशेष अतिथि के रूप में कार्यक्रम की गरिमा बढ़ाई। दोनों अधिकारियों ने खिलाड़ियों को अनुशासन, फिटनेस और एकता पर प्रेरणादायक संदेश दिए।
