Liquor Shop Torched in Bikaner After Denial of Sale; Entire Incident Captured on CCTV

A shocking incident of arson rocked Bikaner’s Nal area late Wednesday night, when a youth, enraged at being denied liquor after official closing hours, allegedly poured petrol on the shutter of a liquor shop and set it ablaze. The brazen act, executed in the dead of night, was caught on the shop’s CCTV cameras.

The Sequence of Events

According to police and eyewitness accounts, the liquor shop operator had closed the store on time as per state excise regulations and left for home. A youth, later identified as Sanwara Bhat, son of Bhagta Ram, arrived at the shop demanding liquor after hours. When he was denied service, he reportedly left in anger, only to return with petrol later in the night.

In an act of fury, he doused the shop shutter with petrol and set it on fire, resulting in massive flames that engulfed the premises. By the time locals noticed the blaze, the shop shutter and stock inside were reduced to ashes.

Discovery and Aftermath

On Thursday morning, shop owner Sumit Nirwan arrived to find his outlet gutted. The extent of damage, including property loss and burnt stock, is yet to be fully assessed, but preliminary estimates suggest severe financial losses.

The shop’s CCTV footage clearly captured the arsonist’s actions, leaving little doubt about the sequence of events. On the basis of this evidence, police registered a case against Sanwara Bhat and one other accomplice at the Nal Police Station.

Police Investigation Underway

Law enforcement authorities have launched an investigation and are conducting raids to apprehend the suspects. Police officials confirmed that such reckless acts not only endanger property but also put lives at risk, especially given the flammable nature of liquor stock and wooden furnishings inside such establishments.

The incident has once again brought liquor regulation and law enforcement in Rajasthan under the spotlight. As per government rules, sale of liquor is strictly prohibited after 8 PM. However, incidents like this reflect the growing menace of intoxicated individuals defying rules and resorting to violence.

Local residents and shop owners have also raised concerns about security arrangements in and around excise shops. They demand stricter patrolling and installation of fire safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

Meanwhile, excise department officials reiterated that shops must adhere to closing hours and that customers seeking liquor illegally after hours often create security challenges.

बीकानेर के नाल क्षेत्र में बुधवार देर रात एक सनसनीखेज घटना सामने आई, जब शराब न मिलने से नाराज़ एक युवक ने पूरे शराब ठेके को पेट्रोल डालकर आग के हवाले कर दिया। यह पूरी वारदात ठेके में लगे सीसीटीवी कैमरे में कैद हो गई।

कैसे हुई वारदात

जानकारी के अनुसार, ठेका संचालक ने नियमों के तहत रात 8 बजे समय पर दुकान बंद कर दी और घर लौट गया। कुछ देर बाद आरोपी सांवरा भाट पुत्र भगताराम शराब की मांग लेकर पहुँचा। जब उसे मना किया गया तो वह गुस्से से भड़क उठा।

आधा रात को वह वापस आया और पेट्रोल छिड़ककर ठेके के शटर को आग के हवाले कर दिया। देखते ही देखते आग ने पूरे ठेके को घेर लिया और अंदर रखा सामान भी जलकर राख हो गया।

सुबह का नजारा और नुकसान

गुरुवार सुबह जब ठेकेदार सुमित निर्वाण मौके पर पहुँचे, तो शटर और ठेके के अंदर का सारा सामान जलकर खाक हो चुका था। घटना से ठेकेदार को भारी आर्थिक नुकसान हुआ है।

पुलिस कार्रवाई और मामला दर्ज

सीसीटीवी फुटेज में वारदात साफ-साफ दर्ज है। इस आधार पर ठेकेदार ने नाल थाने में रिपोर्ट दर्ज कराई, जिसके बाद सांवरा भाट और एक अन्य युवक के खिलाफ मामला दर्ज कर लिया गया है। पुलिस ने जांच शुरू कर दी है और आरोपियों की तलाश तेज कर दी गई है।

कानून-व्यवस्था पर सवाल

राजस्थान में रात 8 बजे के बाद शराब बिक्री पर सख्त पाबंदी है। बावजूद इसके, नशे में धुत लोग कई बार नियम तोड़ने और हंगामा करने पर उतारू हो जाते हैं। इस घटना ने न केवल ग़ैरकानूनी शराब बिक्री पर सवाल उठाए हैं, बल्कि सुरक्षा व्यवस्था पर भी गंभीर प्रश्न खड़े किए हैं।

स्थानीय लोगों ने कहा कि शराब ठेकों के आसपास सुरक्षा व्यवस्था को मज़बूत करने की ज़रूरत है। वहीं, पुलिस और आबकारी विभाग ने सख्ती बरतने और दोषियों के खिलाफ कड़ी कार्रवाई करने का आश्वासन दिया है।
