Military Intelligence and Police Conduct Surprise Raids in Bikaner: Army Uniform Fabric Seized from Shops, National Security Concerns Emerge

In a development that has sent ripples through the desert city of Bikaner, Military Intelligence and the local police jointly conducted surprise inspections in the city’s bustling markets and seized a significant quantity of fabric meant for making Indian Army uniforms. The crackdown took place on Friday in the jurisdiction of Kotgate Police Station, covering prominent commercial stretches such as Subhash Marg—once known as Jinna Road—and the core Kotgate market area.
The raids, which were sudden and unannounced, targeted multiple shops suspected of selling or stocking fabric identical to the official Army uniform. Shops including Subhash Footwear and Teen Bhaiyon Ki Dukaan were among those searched. Videography of the seizures was carried out to ensure transparency and documentation for further proceedings.
Military Intelligence Raises Red Flag
Officials from Military Intelligence stated that the sale of Army uniform fabric in open markets without prior authorization is strictly prohibited under central government guidelines. The move stems from concerns that easy access to such fabric poses a grave risk to national security.
“Army uniforms cannot be replicated or sold in civilian markets without oversight. Unauthorized sales create the possibility of misuse, including impersonation of soldiers by anti-national elements, which can lead to sabotage, infiltration, or terrorist activities,” a senior Army officer involved in the raid told T.I.N. Network.
The officer added that such practices are not only unlawful but also undermine the sanctity of the Armed Forces, making this a matter of grave concern.
Local Youth Identified, Investigation Expands
Police sources confirmed that the name of one individual, Anish Kumar, son of Kishan Kumar, aged 23, a resident of JNV Colony near the Gurudwara, has surfaced during the inquiry. His alleged involvement is being probed, though it remains unclear whether he was directly selling the fabric or operating through intermediaries.
Despite the seriousness of the matter, Army authorities have not yet lodged a formal FIR with the police. Once a case is officially registered, the confiscated stock will be sealed and presented as evidence. For the moment, the fabric remains in custody while procedural formalities are awaited.
Heightened Security Presence During Raid
Given the sensitivity of the operation, Bikaner city police deployed a sizeable contingent to maintain order during the raids. Crowds gathered as officers searched shops and removed rolls of fabric, but the operation proceeded without major disruptions. The presence of uniformed personnel underscored the seriousness of the issue and signaled the government’s intent to act firmly against such violations.
National Security Implications
The recovery of Army uniform fabric from civilian markets has sparked widespread concern. Experts warn that such material, if it falls into the wrong hands, can be used for creating fake Army uniforms, enabling miscreants or terrorists to pose as soldiers.
In recent years, India has witnessed several incidents where militants disguised in Army fatigues carried out attacks in sensitive regions such as Jammu & Kashmir. Such impersonation not only endangers the lives of security personnel but also risks public safety by blurring the line between genuine soldiers and hostile elements.
Security analysts argue that uniform misuse remains a hidden but potent threat in urban and border regions. “Selling Army dress material without oversight is nothing less than playing with fire. It opens the possibility of infiltration, smuggling, and even terrorist strikes disguised as Army operations,” a national security expert told T.I.N. Network.
Police and Administration Under Scrutiny
While the raids mark a strong step forward, questions are being raised about how such fabric was being sold openly in Bikaner’s most prominent market. Critics point to gaps in local policing and regulatory oversight, asking why the issue came to light only after Military Intelligence intervened.
The delay in filing an FIR has also sparked criticism. Observers argue that unless swift legal action is taken, the crackdown risks being seen as symbolic rather than substantive. National security issues, they insist, demand urgent and uncompromising responses.
A Larger Pattern Across Rajasthan?
This incident in Bikaner is not isolated. In recent years, similar recoveries have been made in other parts of Rajasthan and border states where Army deployment is heavy. Rajasthan, with its long international border with Pakistan and numerous military installations—including training ranges, airbases, and cantonments—is particularly vulnerable to such breaches.
The presence of counterfeit or unauthorized Army uniform fabric in such a region has raised alarms within the security establishment. It points to the possibility of organized networks supplying such material, either through negligence or deliberate intent, for profit or worse—facilitating anti-national activities.
What Lies Ahead
The coming days are expected to bring clarity on whether the Army will file a formal complaint, leading to criminal proceedings against the individuals involved. Meanwhile, the police are under pressure to trace the supply chain—whether the fabric originated locally, or was routed through wholesale networks in other states.
Until then, the incident has served as a stark reminder of how small lapses in vigilance can snowball into significant national security threats. For Bikaner, a city deeply tied to India’s defence infrastructure through the Mahajan Field Firing Ranges and its proximity to sensitive border zones, the discovery is a wake-up call.
As one retired Army officer remarked, “This is not just about a few meters of cloth. It is about protecting the identity of the Indian soldier. When a uniform falls into the wrong hands, the very symbol of trust between the Army and the people is at stake.”

बीकानेर में मिलिट्री इंटेलिजेंस और पुलिस की संयुक्त कार्रवाई : दुकानों से बरामद हुई सेना की वर्दी का कपड़ा, राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा पर गहराया संकट

मरुस्थलीय शहर बीकानेर में शुक्रवार को मिलिट्री इंटेलिजेंस और कोटगेट पुलिस की संयुक्त कार्रवाई ने हड़कंप मचा दिया। शहर के व्यस्ततम बाज़ारों में औचक छापेमारी कर सेना की वर्दी का कपड़ा बड़ी मात्रा में बरामद किया गया। कार्रवाई कोटगेट थाना क्षेत्र में हुई, जिसमें सुभाष मार्ग (पूर्व जिन्ना रोड) और मुख्य कोटगेट मार्केट शामिल रहे।
इस अचानक हुई कार्रवाई में कई प्रतिष्ठान निशाने पर रहे। जिनमें सुभाष फुटवियर शॉप और तीन भाइयों की दुकान प्रमुख हैं। दुकानों से मिले कपड़े की वीडियोग्राफी कराई गई ताकि आगे की कानूनी प्रक्रिया में प्रमाणिकता बनी रहे।
मिलिट्री इंटेलिजेंस की चेतावनी
मिलिट्री इंटेलिजेंस अधिकारियों ने स्पष्ट किया कि सेना की वर्दी का कपड़ा खुले बाज़ार में बेचना केंद्र सरकार की गाइडलाइंस के खिलाफ है। बिना अनुमति ऐसे कपड़े की बिक्री राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा के लिए गंभीर खतरा है।
“सेना की वर्दी को दोहराना या बिना निगरानी बेचना प्रतिबंधित है। इसकी खुली बिक्री से आतंकियों या असामाजिक तत्वों को फायदा मिल सकता है, जो सैनिक बनकर घुसपैठ, आतंकी हमले या तोड़फोड़ कर सकते हैं,” एक वरिष्ठ सैन्य अधिकारी ने T.I.N. Network को बताया।
अधिकारी ने कहा कि वर्दी केवल पहनावे का प्रतीक नहीं, बल्कि भारतीय सेना की पहचान और जनता का विश्वास है। उसका दुरुपयोग पूरे सुरक्षा ढांचे को खतरे में डाल सकता है।
बीकानेर का युवक जांच के घेरे में
पुलिस सूत्रों के अनुसार इस कार्रवाई में अनिश कुमार, पुत्र किशन कुमार, उम्र 23 वर्ष, निवासी जेएनवी कॉलोनी (गुरुद्वारे के सामने), बीकानेर का नाम सामने आया है। फिलहाल यह स्पष्ट नहीं है कि वह सीधे बिक्री में शामिल था या केवल सप्लाई चैन का हिस्सा।
हालांकि सेना की ओर से अब तक औपचारिक एफआईआर दर्ज नहीं कराई गई है। रिपोर्ट दर्ज होने के बाद ही जब्त कपड़े को सील कर सबूत के रूप में अदालत में पेश किया जाएगा। फिलहाल कपड़े का स्टॉक पुलिस और सैन्य अधिकारियों की निगरानी में रखा गया है।
सुरक्षा के मद्देनज़र भारी पुलिस बल
कार्रवाई की संवेदनशीलता को देखते हुए शहर पुलिस का जाब्ता मौके पर तैनात किया गया। छापेमारी के दौरान भारी भीड़ एकत्रित हो गई थी, लेकिन सुरक्षा घेरा इतना मजबूत था कि कोई बड़ी गड़बड़ी नहीं हुई। दुकानों से कपड़े हटाने और पैक करने का काम पुलिस और मिलिट्री इंटेलिजेंस ने सख्त निगरानी में पूरा किया।
राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा के लिए गंभीर खतरा
स्थानीय बाज़ार में सेना की वर्दी का कपड़ा मिलना विशेषज्ञों को गहरी चिंता में डाल गया है। उनका मानना है कि इस कपड़े से नकली वर्दी तैयार कर आतंकवादी या अपराधी सैनिकों का रूप धारण कर सकते हैं।
जम्मू-कश्मीर सहित कई बार देश ने ऐसे हमले झेले हैं, जिनमें आतंकी सेना की वर्दी पहनकर सुरक्षा बलों या नागरिकों पर हमला कर चुके हैं। ऐसे मामलों में असली और नकली वर्दीधारी में फर्क करना मुश्किल हो जाता है और इसका सीधा खामियाजा जनता और सुरक्षाबलों को भुगतना पड़ता है।
पुलिस और प्रशासन पर सवाल
कार्रवाई भले ही महत्वपूर्ण रही हो, लेकिन सवाल उठ रहे हैं कि बीकानेर जैसे संवेदनशील और सैन्य दृष्टि से अहम शहर में यह कपड़ा खुले आम कैसे बिक रहा था। आलोचक स्थानीय पुलिस और प्रशासन की निष्क्रियता को जिम्मेदार ठहरा रहे हैं। विशेषज्ञों का कहना है कि जब तक त्वरित कानूनी कार्रवाई नहीं होती, तब तक यह केवल प्रतीकात्मक छापेमारी ही मानी जाएगी।
राजस्थान के लिए बड़ा खतरा
बीकानेर की यह घटना अकेली नहीं मानी जा रही। पिछले वर्षों में राजस्थान और अन्य सीमा राज्यों में भी सेना की नकली वर्दी या कपड़े मिलने की घटनाएँ सामने आ चुकी हैं। राजस्थान की लंबी अंतरराष्ट्रीय सीमा और यहां मौजूद सैन्य ठिकानों के चलते यह इलाका संवेदनशील माना जाता है।
बीकानेर महाजन फील्ड फायरिंग रेंज और सीमा सुरक्षा के लिहाज से अहम है। ऐसे में यहां सेना की वर्दी का अवैध व्यापार होना सुरक्षा एजेंसियों के लिए एक बड़ा अलार्म है।
आगे की राह
अब निगाहें इस पर टिकी हैं कि सेना कब तक औपचारिक रिपोर्ट दर्ज कराती है और पुलिस जांच में किस हद तक नेटवर्क का खुलासा कर पाती है। यह भी सवाल है कि यह कपड़ा स्थानीय स्तर पर ही तैयार हुआ या किसी बड़े सप्लाई चैन से यहां पहुँचा।
फिलहाल इतना साफ है कि यह केवल कपड़े का मामला नहीं, बल्कि भारतीय सैनिक की पहचान की सुरक्षा का सवाल है। जैसा कि एक सेवानिवृत्त सैन्य अधिकारी ने कहा –
“सेना की वर्दी में केवल कपड़ा नहीं, बल्कि सैनिक का मान-सम्मान और देश की जनता का विश्वास निहित होता है। जब यह गलत हाथों में पड़ती है, तो पूरा सुरक्षा तंत्र खतरे में पड़ जाता है।”
