'Misuse of power unacceptable': Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore loses cool after Jaipur Police justifies assault on army personnel, details

On Monday, 12th August, the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Department of Rajasthan, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, slammed the state police for brutally assaulting an army officer at Jaipur police station. Rajyavardhan Rathore demanded that the 5 police officers who assaulted the Army personnel get their mental stability checked.

As per the local reports, Rathore schooled the police officers in the presence of the DGP and State commissioner, and said that the officers had taken their duty and post for granted, and eventually caused insult to the entire police department. “Do you have any kind of patience? What are you here for- to showcase power or to serve the people? This is totally unacceptable,” the Minister said.

The videos of the interaction are making rounds on social media in which Rathore can be seen educating the police authorities. Notably, it is seen that the police initially attempted to justify their act of assaulting the army personnel after which Rajyavardhan Rathore lost his cool.

Rajyavardhan Rathore said that all the officers guilty of the incident shall be strictly punished so that such incidents don’t happen in the future.

As per the local reports, an army officer had arrived at the Jaipur Police station for some work. He had arrived at the Shiprapath Police Station with someone’s recommendation but was treated rudely and was later beaten mercilessly. It is believed that the army personnel was also forced to remove his clothes before the assault.

The incident caught the attention of Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore who slammed the police officers for misusing their power. He asserted that police should only serve the people and not get involved in showing their power.

Rathore has demanded strict punishment against the accused police officers. The investigation into the case is underway.
