PAKISTAN INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES–MARKED AIR BALLOON FOUND NEAR INDIA–PAK BORDER IN BIKANER, SECURITY AGENCIES GO ON ALERT
Bikaner, Rajasthan — Tension rippled through the border belt of Khajuwala late on Saturday night after villagers in the 6 SSM Siyasar Chougan fields discovered an air balloon bearing the inscription “Pakistan International Airlines.” The sudden appearance of the balloon, drifting from the direction of Pakistan, triggered a swift response from local authorities and border security forces, highlighting the heightened vigilance in Rajasthan’s frontier districts.
Discovery Sparks Panic in Border Hamlet
According to local residents, the balloon was first spotted lying in the fields of Siyasar Chougan village, located barely a few kilometres from the international border. Startled by the sight of the object marked with the branding of Pakistan’s national carrier, villagers immediately informed the village sarpanch, Khalil Khan. Realising the potential sensitivity of the situation, Khan promptly alerted the local police station and the nearest Border Security Force (BSF) post.
Within minutes, teams from the Khajuwala Police Station and BSF reached the spot, cordoning off the area and launching a detailed inspection under high-beam lights as darkness shrouded the remote desert region. For hours, security personnel examined the balloon, scanning for any suspicious attachments or payloads—especially in light of past instances where cross-border elements have used aerial objects to transport contraband.
No Explosive or Suspicious Payload Found, But Concerns Remain
After a thorough inspection, officials confirmed that the balloon did not contain any explosive material, sensor device, transmitter, or suspicious component. It appeared to be a regular hydrogen-filled promotional balloon, possibly carried by strong desert winds from deep inside Pakistan.
Even though the object was harmless, security forces did not take the discovery lightly. The border region of Khajuwala has witnessed multiple incidents of similar balloons floating into Indian territory in recent years. Officials noted that seasonal wind patterns often carry such balloons across the border into Rajasthan’s forward villages.
However, given the evolving security scenario, agencies remain cautious. The region has previously recorded instances of drones entering Indian territory from Pakistan to drop narcotics and surveillance equipment—especially in the Khajuwala, Anupgarh, and Raisinghnagar sectors. As a result, even seemingly innocuous objects trigger a high-alert response.
Residents Remain Vigilant as Border Tensions Persist
What stood out in Saturday night’s incident was the prompt response of residents. Villages dotting the border belt of Bikaner, which remains an active security zone, have developed an acute sense of vigilance over the years. In areas like Siyasar Chougan, villagers immediately report unknown flying objects, suspicious packages, drone-like sounds, or abandoned materials to the BSF—a vigilance pattern that security agencies credit with preventing several possible infiltration or smuggling attempts.
Local authorities said that the people of Khajuwala have grown increasingly cautious due to past cases of Pakistani drones dropping heroin consignments or attempting to survey Indian positions. Officials recalled that this sector has been under special observation since multiple narcotics delivery attempts were intercepted in the past two years.
Part of a Larger Pattern of Cross-Border Objects
The finding of a Pakistan International Airlines–marked balloon adds to a recurring pattern. Over the past few years, such balloons—often green, white, and printed with Urdu lettering or Pakistani corporate branding—have drifted into Indian villages like Khajuwala, 6 SSM, and Rawla. Although none have been found with harmful components, the frequency of such occurrences keeps the border environment tense.
Security agencies believe that these balloons are often released during events, cricket matches, political rallies, or celebrations in Pakistan, and strong westerly winds carry them across the Thar Desert. However, officials maintain that every such object must be examined thoroughly, as the possibility of misuse cannot be ruled out in a region that has witnessed both drone intrusions and terror-linked smuggling operations.
BSF Maintains Continuous Surveillance
Following the recovery, the BSF enhanced patrols across the Khajuwala sub-sector, deploying night-vision equipment and intensifying scanning around vulnerable stretches of the border fence. Officials also interacted with villagers late into the night, urging them to continue their cooperation and immediately report any new sightings.
Police sources confirmed that a formal report has been filed, and the balloon remains under custody for documentation purposes. The intelligence agencies have also been informed as part of routine protocol.
A Mild Incident but a Strong Reminder
While the balloon posed no threat, the incident serves as a reminder of how sensitive the India–Pakistan border zone remains, especially in Rajasthan’s western districts. With rising drone activities, narcotics smuggling attempts, and geopolitical tensions, even harmless objects crossing from Pakistan demand rapid action.
The villagers’ alertness, combined with swift coordination between the police and BSF, ensured that the situation was handled professionally and without panic. As winds continue to shift in winter months, authorities have advised residents to stay alert and immediately inform security forces about anything unusual—no matter how small or harmless it may appear.
Khajuwala remains calm but watchful, and security agencies continue to maintain full operational readiness along the border.

भारत–पाक सीमा पर मिला ‘पाकिस्तान इंटरनेशनल एयरलाइंस’ लिखा एयर बेलून, बीकानेर के खाजूवाला में सुरक्षा एजेंसियां हाई अलर्ट पर
बीकानेर, राजस्थान — अंतरराष्ट्रीय सीमा से सटे खाजूवाला क्षेत्र में शनिवार देर रात उस समय हड़कंप मच गया जब गांव 6 SSM सीयासर चौगान के कृषि खेतों में ग्रामीणों ने “Pakistan International Airlines” लिखा एक बड़ा एयर बेलून पड़ा देखा। सीमा क्षेत्र में ऐसी वस्तुओं का मिलना हमेशा संवेदनशील माना जाता है, लिहाज़ा सूचना मिलते ही स्थानीय पुलिस, बीएसएफ और अन्य सुरक्षा एजेंसियां तुरंत हरकत में आ गईं और पूरे इलाके को सुरक्षा घेरे में ले लिया।
यह गुब्बारा सीमा क्षेत्र की दिशा से उड़कर भारतीय सीमा में दाखिल हुआ था, जिसने पहले से ही सतर्क चल रही सुरक्षा एजेंसियों को एक बार फिर अलर्ट मोड पर कर दिया।
देर रात मिला गुब्बारा, गांव में फैली सनसनी
घटना रात लगभग आठ बजे की है जब सीयासर चौगान के खेतों में काम कर रहे कुछ स्थानीय लोग एक बड़े आकार के गुब्बारे पर नज़र पड़ी। उस गुब्बारे पर स्पष्ट रूप से ‘Pakistan International Airlines’ लिखा हुआ था, जिसे देखकर ग्रामीणों को शक हुआ कि कहीं यह गुब्बारा किसी संवेदनशील गतिविधि का हिस्सा तो नहीं।
गांव के सरपंच खलील खां को इसकी जानकारी दी गई। सरपंच खलील खां ने इसकी सूचना तुरंत खाजूवाला थाने और नज़दीकी बीएसएफ पोस्ट को दी। दोनों ही एजेंसियां बिना देर किए मौके पर पहुंचीं और क्षेत्र को चारों ओर से घेरकर प्राथमिक जांच शुरू की।
बीएसएफ और पुलिस की संयुक्त कार्रवाई, घंटों चली जांच
रात की घने अंधेरे में बीएसएफ और पुलिस की टीमें हाई-पावर टॉर्च और निरीक्षण उपकरणों के साथ खेतों में जुटीं। गुब्बारे के आसपास के इलाके को सुरक्षित कर लिया गया था, ताकि यदि इस गुब्बारे में कोई विस्फोटक, कैमरा, ट्रांसमीटर या कोई अन्य संदिग्ध तकनीक लगी हो तो उसे सुरक्षित रूप से निष्क्रिय किया जा सके।
जांचकर्ताओं ने गुब्बारे को सावधानीपूर्वक उलट-पलटकर देखा, उसके साथ लगी डोर और उसके आसपास के क्षेत्र की भी विस्तृत जांच की गई। कई घंटे तक चली इस प्रक्रिया में सुरक्षा एजेंसियों ने सुनिश्चित किया कि गुब्बारे में किसी भी प्रकार की तकनीकी या खतरनाक सामग्री का उपयोग न किया गया हो।
अंततः जांच में यह पुष्टि हुई कि गुब्बारा एक साधारण हाइड्रोजन या हीलियम भरा प्रमोशनल एयर बेलून था, जिसमें कोई भी संदिग्ध वस्तु नहीं मिली।
सुरक्षा एजेंसियों की सतर्कता बरकरार, क्यों गंभीर है यह घटना?
हालांकि गुब्बारा आम प्रतीत हुआ, लेकिन इस तरह की घटनाओं को कभी भी हल्के में नहीं लिया जाता। राजस्थान के सीमावर्ती इलाकों—खाजूवाला, अनूपगढ़, रायसिंहनगर और पोखरण—में पहले भी कई बार पाक लिखे गुब्बारे मिले हैं।
सुरक्षा एजेंसियों के अनुसार, पाकिस्तान में होने वाले खेल आयोजनों, सरकारी कार्यक्रमों, राजनीतिक रैलियों या समारोहों के दौरान इस तरह के एयर बलून छोड़े जाते हैं और तेज हवा उन्हें भारतीय सीमा तक पहुंचा देती है।
लेकिन बदलते सुरक्षा परिदृश्य में हर वस्तु एक संभावित खतरे का संकेत हो सकती है।
क्योंकि—
- इसी क्षेत्र में कई बार पाकिस्तानी ड्रोन के जरिए नशीले पदार्थों की तस्करी की कोशिशें हुई हैं।
- कई बार सर्वेलांस ड्रोन भारतीय पोस्ट की गतिविधियों पर नजर रखने के लिए भेजे गए।
- बीएसएफ और राजस्थान पुलिस ने 2023–2025 के दौरान इस क्षेत्र में कई ड्रोन पकड़कर बड़ी मात्रा में हेरोइन बरामद की।
ऐसे में यह गुब्बारा भी एक संभावित खतरे की दृष्टि से ही जांचा गया।
सीमा क्षेत्र के ग्रामीणों की चौकसी बड़ी भूमिका निभाती है
खाजूवाला के ग्रामीण वर्षों से भारत–पाक सीमा के बेहद करीब रहते आए हैं। उन्हें पता है कि सीमा क्षेत्र में कोई भी असामान्य गतिविधि देश की सुरक्षा के लिए चुनौती बन सकती है।
इसी वजह से सीमावर्ती गांवों में ग्रामीण—
- अज्ञात वस्तुओं,
- गिरकर फटे हुए बलून,
- ड्रोन की आवाज,
- खेतों में पड़े किसी पैकेट,
- या सीमा पार से आए किसी अजीब उपकरण को देखते ही
तुरंत बीएसएफ को सूचना देते हैं।
शनिवार रात की घटना में भी ग्रामीणों की सजगता ने ही सुरक्षा एजेंसियों को तुरंत कार्रवाई करने का अवसर दिया।
सीमा क्षेत्रों में पहले भी मिले हैं पाक लिखे गुब्बारे
बीकानेर, जैसलमेर और श्रीगंगानगर के कई गांवों में पिछले वर्षों में ऐसे दर्जनों गुब्बारे मिले हैं।
ये गुब्बारे आमतौर पर—
- हरे और सफेद रंग के होते हैं,
- उन पर उर्दू में पाकिस्तान से जुड़े संदेश, संस्थान या एयरलाइंस का नाम होता है,
- और हवा में लंबी दूरी तक तैरते हुए भारतीय खेतों में आ गिरते हैं।
हालांकि इनमे से अब तक किसी में भी संदिग्ध सामग्री नहीं मिली है, लेकिन घटनाओं की बढ़ती संख्या सुरक्षा एजेंसियों के लिए चिंता का विषय बनी रहती है।
बीएसएफ ने बढ़ाई पेट्रोलिंग, खाजूवाला सेक्टर में निगरानी तेज
गुब्बारे की बरामदगी के बाद बीएसएफ ने खाजूवाला सेक्टर में रातभर गश्त तेज कर दी।
सुरक्षा एजेंसियों ने—
- नाइट विज़न डिवाइसों का उपयोग बढ़ाया,
- सीमा की फेंसिंग के आसपास अतिरिक्त निरीक्षण किया,
- और गांवों में ग्रामीणों से बातचीत कर उन्हें सतर्क रहने की सलाह दी।
खाजूवाला पुलिस ने मामले में औपचारिक रिपोर्ट दर्ज की है और गुब्बारे को दस्तावेजीकरण के लिए कब्जे में ले लिया गया है।
जांच रिपोर्ट को इंटेलिजेंस एजेंसियों के साथ भी साझा किया गया है ताकि सीमा पार की गतिविधियों का पैटर्न समझा जा सके।
निष्कर्ष: एक मामूली परन्तु महत्वपूर्ण चेतावनी
यह घटना भले ही प्रत्यक्ष रूप से खतरनाक नहीं थी, लेकिन यह इस बात की याद दिलाती है कि भारत–पाक सीमा के आसपास का हर क्षेत्र कितना संवेदनशील है। बढ़ती ड्रोन गतिविधियों, नशीले पदार्थों की तस्करी, और सीमा-पार से संभावित खुफिया प्रयोगों के बीच, एक साधारण गुब्बारा भी सुरक्षा एजेंसियों को सचेत कर देता है।
खाजूवाला के ग्रामीणों की सजगता, स्थानीय पुलिस की त्वरित प्रतिक्रिया और बीएसएफ के पेशेवर प्रबंधन के कारण संभावित खतरा टल गया।
सर्दियों के मौसम में पश्चिमी हवाएं और तेज हो जाती हैं, ऐसे में सुरक्षा एजेंसियों ने ग्रामीणों से सतर्क रहने और किसी भी संदिग्ध वस्तु की तुरंत सूचना देने की अपील की है।
खाजूवाला फिलहाल शांत है, लेकिन सतर्क। सीमा सुरक्षा बल लगातार चौकसी के साथ सीमा पर निगरानी बनाए हुए है।
