Pakistan’s ISI Caught Red-Handed: RPG-22 Anti-Tank Weapon Sent via Drone Seized in Punjab — Major Terror Plot Foiled by Amritsar Police and Intel Agencies

Network that the Amritsar Police acted on specific inputs from central intelligence agencies, which had been monitoring suspicious drone activity in border villages over the past few weeks. Acting on real-time alerts, a team of counter-intelligence officers launched a night operation leading to the arrest of the two suspects.
Both accused were reportedly in contact with handlers based in Pakistan, suspected to be associated with the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and its proxy terror outfits. Preliminary interrogation has revealed that the consignment was dropped via drone near Attari, from where the accused retrieved the weapon under detailed GPS instructions from their Pakistani contacts.

The RPG-22 (Rocket-Propelled Grenade) is a Soviet-designed, single-shot, anti-tank weapon, used widely in war zones across Afghanistan, Syria, and by various terror groups operating under ISI patronage. Unlike small arms or grenades, the RPG-22 is capable of penetrating 300–400 mm of armour, making it a serious threat to security installations, convoys, and police or military assets. Experts have warned that such weaponry being smuggled into civilian areas reflects Pakistan’s growing desperation to reignite terror networks in Punjab, which have been largely dismantled by Indian security forces since 2020.
The Drone Supply Chain from Pakistan
Investigations have revealed that Pakistan has been increasingly using custom-built heavy-lift drones for arms drops across the border, particularly in districts like Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, and Gurdaspur.

This latest development aligns with intelligence assessments indicating that Pakistan’s ISI is attempting to reactivate dormant terror modules in Punjab by combining Khalistani sympathizers with Islamist networks. With enhanced surveillance in Jammu & Kashmir and strong counter-insurgency operations in the hinterland, Punjab’s international border has once again become a testing ground for hybrid warfare tactics — blending drones, propaganda, and narcotics trafficking.
Investigators are now probing whether the recovered RPG-22 was part of a larger cache of weapons, or if it was intended for a targeted attack on security convoys, police stations, or VIP processions. Forensic experts from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) are likely to examine the weapon for serial numbers, residue, and traceable manufacturing details to identify its origin.
Statements from Officials
Punjab DGP has confirmed the arrests, calling it a “major breakthrough against Pakistan-sponsored terror modules”.
He said, “The seizure of an anti-tank weapon in a civilian area underscores the dangerous intent of Pakistan’s deep state. Our agencies acted swiftly and prevented what could have been a catastrophic strike.”
An NIA official added that drone infiltration has now entered a new phase, where high-value arms are being transferred instead of routine small arms or drugs, a sign of ISI’s evolving tactics to destabilize India internally.
India’s Counter-Drone Strategy and Future Implications
Following this incident, central security agencies are expected to ramp up anti-drone surveillance grids across Punjab’s border belt.
The Indian Army and BSF have already deployed Israeli-made SMASH-2000+ anti-drone rifles and SkyDome radars in several vulnerable sectors, but experts say a more integrated counter-drone command structure is required.
This operation once again highlights how Pakistan’s proxy warfare is shifting toward unmanned aerial infiltration and hybrid radicalization, blending the use of advanced military hardware with local youth recruitment through propaganda channels on social media.

पंजाब में एक बार फिर पाकिस्तान की खुफिया एजेंसी ISI की आतंकी साजिश को भारतीय एजेंसियों ने नाकाम कर दिया है। अमृतसर पुलिस ने केंद्रीय खुफिया एजेंसियों के साथ मिलकर एक ड्रोन-आधारित आतंकी नेटवर्क का पर्दाफाश किया है, जिसमें पाकिस्तान से भेजे गए RPG-22 एंटी-टैंक हथियार को बरामद किया गया है। इस मामले में दो आरोपियों — मेहकदीप सिंह उर्फ मेहक और आदित्य उर्फ आदी — को गिरफ्तार किया गया है, जो पाकिस्तान से निर्देशित होकर इस हथियार को प्राप्त करने पहुंचे थे।

ऑपरेशन का खुलासा: खुफिया इनपुट पर कार्रवाई

प्रारंभिक पूछताछ में सामने आया है कि दोनों आरोपी पाकिस्तान में बैठे अपने ISI हैंडलर्स के संपर्क में थे। उन्होंने सीमा के पास स्थित अटारी क्षेत्र में ड्रोन ड्रॉप के जरिए हथियार प्राप्त किया और GPS लोकेशन के माध्यम से उसे बरामद किया।
खुफिया सूत्रों का मानना है कि यह ड्रोन पाकिस्तान के नारोवाल या शकरगढ़ सेक्टर से लॉन्च किया गया था और इसे रिमोट कंट्रोल के जरिए भारतीय सीमा के अंदर छोड़ा गया।
RPG-22: युद्ध क्षेत्र का हथियार, आतंकी नेटवर्क के हाथों में
RPG-22 यानी रॉकेट प्रोपेल्ड ग्रेनेड एक सोवियत डिज़ाइन का पोर्टेबल एंटी-टैंक हथियार है, जो अफगानिस्तान, सीरिया और यूक्रेन जैसे युद्ध क्षेत्रों में इस्तेमाल किया जाता रहा है। अब इसका पंजाब में मिलना इस बात का संकेत है कि पाकिस्तान भारत के खिलाफ अपने आतंकी अभियान को नई दिशा दे रहा है।
RPG-22 किसी भी आर्मर्ड वाहन या बंकर को 300–400 मिमी तक की स्टील आर्मर को भेदने की क्षमता रखता है। यह सिर्फ एक बार उपयोग होने वाला लेकिन अत्यंत घातक हथियार है। विशेषज्ञों का कहना है कि इस तरह के हथियारों को भारत में भेजना पाकिस्तान की हताशा और निराशा को दर्शाता है, क्योंकि पंजाब में उसके आतंक नेटवर्क को भारतीय एजेंसियों ने लगभग निष्क्रिय कर दिया था।

पहले जिन ड्रोन से AK-47 राइफलें, ग्रेनेड, IED और नशीले पदार्थ भेजे जाते थे, अब उसी रास्ते से एंटी-टैंक हथियार जैसे हाई वैल्यू मिलिट्री असाल्ट सिस्टम भेजे जा रहे हैं।
खुफिया रिपोर्टों के अनुसार, इस पूरी कार्रवाई के पीछे पाकिस्तान की ISI की काउंटर इंडिया कोवर्ट डिवीजन (CICD) सक्रिय है, जो लश्कर-ए-तैयबा (LeT), खालिस्तान जिंदाबाद फोर्स (KZF) और बब्बर खालसा इंटरनेशनल (BKI) जैसे आतंकी संगठनों के साथ मिलकर काम कर रही है।
ISI की दोहरी साजिश: खालिस्तानी और इस्लामिक नेटवर्क का मेल
इस बरामदगी से यह भी साफ हुआ है कि पाकिस्तान अब पंजाब में खालिस्तानी समर्थकों और इस्लामिक नेटवर्क को जोड़कर हाइब्रिड टेररिज़्म मॉडल बना रहा है।
जबकि जम्मू-कश्मीर में भारत की सुरक्षा एजेंसियों ने आतंकी नेटवर्क को काफी हद तक ध्वस्त कर दिया है, ISI अब पंजाब को अपने नए प्रयोगशाला (testing ground) के रूप में देख रही है।
सूत्रों के अनुसार, यह RPG-22 किसी VIP मूवमेंट या सुरक्षा काफिले को निशाना बनाने के लिए भेजा गया था। जांच में यह भी पता लगाया जा रहा है कि क्या इस हथियार के साथ और भी ड्रोन ड्रॉप्स हुए हैं या यह एक ट्रायल रन था।
अधिकारियों के बयान: पाकिस्तान के मंसूबे फिर बेनकाब
पंजाब के डीजीपी ने इस ऑपरेशन को “पाकिस्तान प्रायोजित आतंक नेटवर्क के खिलाफ बड़ी सफलता” बताया है।
उन्होंने कहा —
“किसी नागरिक इलाके में एंटी-टैंक हथियार का मिलना यह दर्शाता है कि पाकिस्तान का डीप स्टेट भारत को अस्थिर करने के लिए किस हद तक जा सकता है। हमारी पुलिस और एजेंसियों की तत्परता ने एक बड़े हमले को टाल दिया।”
वहीं, एनआईए के एक वरिष्ठ अधिकारी ने बताया कि यह ड्रोन नेटवर्क अब “ड्रग से हथियार तस्करी” में तब्दील हो चुका है। अब पाकिस्तान छोटे हथियारों की बजाय हाई वैल्यू मिलिट्री ग्रेड सिस्टम्स भेज रहा है, जो एक बेहद खतरनाक रुझान है।
भारत की एंटी-ड्रोन रणनीति और भविष्य की चुनौतियां
इस घटना के बाद केंद्र सरकार और सुरक्षा एजेंसियों ने पंजाब में एंटी-ड्रोन निगरानी को और सख्त करने का फैसला किया है।
भारतीय सेना और बीएसएफ पहले से ही सीमा पर SMASH-2000+ एंटी-ड्रोन राइफल्स और SkyDome रडार सिस्टम तैनात कर चुकी हैं। अब एक इंटीग्रेटेड एंटी-ड्रोन कमांड नेटवर्क बनाने की सिफारिश की जा रही है।
विशेषज्ञों का कहना है कि पाकिस्तान अब “अनमैन्ड वॉरफेयर” यानी बिना सैनिकों की जंग में उतर चुका है। ड्रोन के माध्यम से वह हथियार, प्रचार सामग्री और आतंक की वैचारिक शिक्षा — तीनों को एक साथ फैला रहा है।
निष्कर्ष: पंजाब पुलिस का संदेश साफ है — हम सतर्क हैं, तैयार हैं
मेहकदीप सिंह और आदित्य की गिरफ्तारी तथा RPG-22 की बरामदगी सिर्फ एक ऑपरेशनल सफलता नहीं, बल्कि पाकिस्तान के खिलाफ एक रणनीतिक चेतावनी है।
यह घटना इस बात की पुष्टि करती है कि ISI अभी भी भारत को अस्थिर करने की कोशिशों में लगी है, लेकिन भारतीय खुफिया और पुलिस व्यवस्था पहले से कहीं अधिक मजबूत और तत्पर है।
