Poems by Richard Doiron from Canada

IN SEARCH OF A SEER
(in the faint light)

There was a time the Seer was said
to see a thousand years ahead,
his vision such that, when revealed,
the choicest “wine” had been unsealed.

But ages passed and light grew faint,
the line thus blurred applied the saint,
so many, then, to claim the “throne,”
the actual Seer was little known.

Now tides have turned confusions reign –
such twisted thoughts we’d entertain -,
if yet by chance a Seer might rise
were one with clear, inviting eyes.

STRUGGLING WITH THE SILENCE

I speak my mind to the open space,
but the open space responds only
with silence, if yet it is I speak, for
the need to express what I feel inside
is also a force to be reckoned with.

Unable to speak and hear at the same
time, it occurs to me that it may be wise
to hold my tongue and give ear to
the world around me, if yet to hear little
more than what I heard before.

Now I am reluctant to resume my rant.
It is answers that I seek, if the silence
but causes more questions to arise.
Still, it strikes me that when I was
speaking my mind at least something
was being said…

For sure one day things will change.
One day I will no doubt acquire a better
understanding of the language that is
known as silence. And that day it will be
neither about questions nor about answers.
That day it will be about being present,
at peace with the things that are, not
so much about the things that might be.
