Rainwater Stagnation Continues to Plague Kolayat Tehsil Premises Despite Inspections; Former Pradhan Promises Resolution Soon

The persistent problem of rainwater stagnation in Kolayat Tehsil premises, including areas in front of the Tehsildar’s residence, has once again come to light, raising sharp concerns among residents, devotees, and visiting pilgrims. Despite multiple inspections by senior officials, the issue remains unaddressed, leaving both locals and visitors frustrated at the lack of concrete solutions.
A Recurring Problem, Year After Year
Residents of Kolayat highlight that even light rainfall leads to severe waterlogging within the Tehsil campus. Pools of stagnant water cause immense inconvenience for pedestrians, vehicle owners, and office visitors, turning the premises into an unusable space. The problem has persisted for years, with repeated assurances from authorities but no visible permanent remedy.
Water Flowing into the Sacred Sarovar
One of the most serious consequences of this waterlogging is the uncontrolled flow of dirty rainwater directly into the Kolayat Sarovar, one of the most revered pilgrimage sites of the region. Local residents complain that a section of the road in front of the Tehsildar’s office has been dug up, allowing both rainwater and waste water to stream into the holy lake.
This has led to widespread resentment among devotees, as the sacred Sarovar holds immense spiritual significance. Pilgrims arriving from outside Bikaner and across the state have expressed deep dissatisfaction, calling it a matter of disrespect to their faith and heritage.
Multiple Meetings, No Solutions Yet
According to locals, several meetings have been held over the years to address the issue, and senior officers have personally visited the site multiple times. However, no tangible measures have been taken to implement a long-term solution. The constant cycle of promises without execution has fueled growing anger among residents and devotees alike.
Former Pradhan Steps In with Assurance
In response to mounting public pressure, former Pradhan Jayveer Singh Bhati has assured that steps are being initiated under the guidance of local MLA Anshuman Singh Bhati. Bhati explained that the matter has already been discussed with the Sarpanch of Kolayat, and a phased plan of action has been devised.
In the first phase, a sewer line project will be executed, beginning from Bhairuji Temple to Ambedkar Circle. This will be followed by the laying of sewer lines in other areas in the second phase. Only after the sewer network is completed will the authorities move towards road construction, as Bhati emphasized:
“If we construct the road first, it will not be possible to lay the sewer lines later. Therefore, resolving the sewer system is the first priority.”
He also confirmed that discussions have already taken place with the Development Officer and officials from the Public Works Department to ensure coordinated execution of the project.
Public Sentiment and Way Forward
While the announcement has brought a measure of relief, the public remains cautiously optimistic. Many residents argue that until actual work begins, assurances will remain mere words. Devotees have called for urgent action, stressing that the sanctity of the Sarovar must be preserved at all costs.
The issue has thus emerged as not only a matter of civic infrastructure but also of cultural and spiritual sensitivity. As Kolayat continues to attract thousands of pilgrims every year, the restoration of its civic order and preservation of its religious heritage remains a pressing need.
The coming weeks will reveal whether the authorities and local leadership succeed in translating promises into action, or if Kolayat will once again be left to battle rainwater woes during the next monsoon.

कोलायत तहसील परिसर और तहसीलदार आवास के सामने वर्षों से बनी हुई बरसाती पानी की समस्या एक बार फिर सुर्खियों में है। हल्की बारिश होते ही तहसील परिसर पानी से भर जाता है, जिससे न केवल आमजन बल्कि वाहन चालकों और कार्यालय आने वाले लोगों को भी भारी असुविधा झेलनी पड़ती है।
सरोवर की पवित्रता पर संकट
स्थानीय लोगों का कहना है कि तहसीलदार कार्यालय के सामने की सड़क को खोद दिया गया है। इसके चलते बरसाती और गंदा पानी सीधे कोलायत सरोवर में पहुँच रहा है। यह सरोवर श्रद्धालुओं के लिए आस्था का केंद्र है और गंदे पानी के प्रवेश से उसकी पवित्रता प्रभावित हो रही है।
बाहरी जिलों और प्रदेश से आने वाले श्रद्धालुओं और दर्शनार्थियों ने इस स्थिति पर गहरी नाराजगी जताई है। उनका कहना है कि यह न केवल प्रशासनिक लापरवाही है, बल्कि श्रद्धा और आस्था को ठेस पहुँचाने वाली स्थिति भी है।
बैठकें और निरीक्षण, पर समाधान नहीं
ग्रामीणों ने बताया कि इस समस्या को लेकर कई बार बैठकें हो चुकी हैं और वरिष्ठ अधिकारी खुद आकर स्थल निरीक्षण कर चुके हैं। इसके बावजूद वर्षों से समस्या जस की तस बनी हुई है। हर बार आश्वासन तो दिया जाता है लेकिन ठोस कदम उठते नजर नहीं आते।
पूर्व प्रधान का आश्वासन
इस पर प्रतिक्रिया देते हुए पूर्व प्रधान जयवीर सिंह भाटी ने कहा कि विधायक अंशुमान सिंह भाटी के निर्देशन में सरपंच कोलायत के साथ इस विषय पर बातचीत हो चुकी है।
उन्होंने बताया कि पहले चरण में भैरूजी मंदिर से लेकर अंबेडकर सर्किल तक सीवर लाइन डाली जाएगी। इसके बाद दूसरे चरण में शेष हिस्सों में सीवर लाइन का काम होगा। तभी जाकर सड़क निर्माण कार्य किया जाएगा।
भाटी ने स्पष्ट किया:
“यदि पहले सड़क बना दी जाए तो बाद में सीवर लाइन डालना संभव नहीं होगा। इसलिए सीवर लाइन को प्राथमिकता दी जा रही है।”
इस संबंध में विकास अधिकारी और सार्वजनिक निर्माण विभाग के अधिकारियों से भी चर्चा की जा चुकी है।
लोगों में रोष और उम्मीद
हालांकि इस घोषणा से कुछ राहत की भावना पैदा हुई है, लेकिन लोग अभी भी सतर्क हैं। उनका कहना है कि जब तक काम जमीन पर शुरू नहीं होता, तब तक आश्वासन का कोई अर्थ नहीं। श्रद्धालुओं ने मांग की है कि सरोवर की पवित्रता बचाने और परिसर की समस्या दूर करने के लिए तत्काल कदम उठाए जाएँ।
कोलायत की यह समस्या अब केवल सड़क और सीवर की नहीं, बल्कि आस्था और सांस्कृतिक धरोहर की भी बन चुकी है। आने वाले दिनों में यह देखना अहम होगा कि क्या प्रशासन और जनप्रतिनिधि वादों को हकीकत में बदलते हैं या फिर अगला मानसून भी कोलायत को बरसाती पानी से जूझते हुए देखना पड़ेगा।
