SAPTA SHAKTI COMMAND CELEBRATES 10TH INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY
South Western Command joined the global celebrations of 10th International Yoga Day on 21st Jun 2024, emphasising that Yoga for Army is not just about physical exercise; it is a profound journey towards inner peace, strength, and resilience.
Yoga Day Celebrations were conducted over a week at various stations of the Command where several events were organised at unit and formation levels in which all the troops and their families took active part along with a cross section of society. The yoga session at Albert Hall, Jaipur and Hanuman Nagar Extension Park witnessed the participation of approx. 500 NCC cadets, 110 veterans & 150 civilians respectively. Yoga sessions were also conducted exclusively for young minds at Army Public Schools, Jaipur & Lalgarh Jattan and Rashtriya Military School, Dholpur.
Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, Army Commander South Western Command, himself spearheaded yoga session at Headquarters Sapta Shakti Command on 21st June 2024 and emphasised that Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s tradition, evolved over centuries of study and practice. It embodies the unity of mind and body, thought and action, restraint and fulfilment, harmony between man and nature and a holistic approach to health and wellbeing. He urged all present to change their lifestyle and create Yoga consciousness for overall well being of society.
Yoga instils discipline, enhances focus and promotes mental clarity. On this International Yoga Day all Army personnel & defence civilians took a pledge to incorporate the ancient tradition of Yoga in their lives.
Army has increasingly integrated yoga into its training programs, recognizing its transformative potential. Soldiers undergo specialised yoga sessions designed to improve flexibility, reduce stress and foster mental agility, equipping them to face the challenges of modern warfare with a focussed mind and an agile body. This year, amidst global uncertainties, the Army reaffirms its commitment to promoting peace and resilience through the practice of yoga.
