World No Tobacco Day Observed with Awareness Rally and Free Health Camp in Bikaner
Bikaner, May 31 – On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, the Agarwal Samaj Chetna Samiti organized a comprehensive awareness programme in the city, focusing on the harmful effects of tobacco consumption and methods of de-addiction. The programme saw participation from senior medical professionals, civic leaders, youth, and women activists.
The chief guest and keynote speaker at the event was Dr. R.K. Gupta, a senior physician from Marwar Research and Referral Hospital. Dr. Gupta elaborated on the severe health hazards of smoking and other forms of tobacco consumption. He introduced the audience to the globally recognized 5 A’s Strategy (Ask, Advise, Assess, Assist, Arrange) that doctors follow to help patients quit addictive substances.
Dr. Gupta strongly advocated for stringent government action, including a ban on tobacco marketing, imposition of heavy taxation on tobacco products, and larger and clearer health warnings on packaging. According to him, preventing the initiation of tobacco use—especially among youth—requires controlling the trigger factors, such as peer pressure, stress, and easy accessibility.
In parallel with the awareness programme, Marwar Research and Referral Hospital, Amarsinghpura, also conducted a free BP and sugar check-up camp, under the leadership of Dr. Arihant Baid and his team, who extended medical support to the attendees.
In an impactful initiative led by the Women’s Cell In-Charge, Dr. Vijay Shri, a public rally was organized where men, women, children, and youth carried placards with anti-tobacco slogans. They marched through local markets and neighborhoods, urging shopkeepers to refrain from selling cigarettes and tobacco products.
Shri Sushil Bansal, President of Agarwal Samaj Chetna Samiti, administered a public oath wherein attendees pledged not to consume any tobacco products and to motivate friends and family to do the same. He flagged off the rally amid cheers and slogans promoting a tobacco-free society.
The rally was effectively led by Shri Shyam Gupta and Shri Manish Chaudhary, and received active participation from Mrs. Nisha Agarwal and Mrs. Kirti Bansal, who took the awareness campaign to schools and colleges. Students were encouraged to take an e-oath online, for which they also received digital certificates.
The programme witnessed key contributions from Dr. Sadhna Bhandari and Dr. Renu Bansal, who played a vital role in coordinating the outreach activities. Special honors and mementos were presented to Dr. R.K. Gupta, Dr. Arihant Baid, Shri Vinod Goyal (Vice President, All India Convention, Bikaner Unit), and Smt. Suman Jain (General Secretary) by the organizing committee.
Several prominent members of the community including Santosh Gupta, Vinay Agarwal, Harsh Agarwal, Kanupriya Gupta, Surabhi Agarwal, Smita Agarwal, Seema Gupta, and Shalu Agarwal lent their support and assistance in successfully conducting the event.
The day-long programme in Bikaner not only raised awareness but also reinforced the urgent need to build a tobacco-free generation, urging civil society and government alike to intensify anti-tobacco measures on war footing.
बीकानेर में विश्व तंबाकू निषेध दिवस पर रैली, जागरूकता कार्यक्रम और स्वास्थ्य शिविर आयोजित
बीकानेर, 31 मई — विश्व तंबाकू निषेध दिवस के अवसर पर अग्रवाल समाज चेतना समिति द्वारा बीकानेर शहर में भव्य जागरूकता कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया गया, जिसमें तंबाकू सेवन से होने वाले दुष्परिणामों और नशा मुक्ति के उपायों पर चर्चा की गई। कार्यक्रम में डॉक्टर, समाजसेवी, युवा और महिलाएं बड़ी संख्या में शामिल हुईं।
कार्यक्रम के मुख्य अतिथि और मुख्य वक्ता मारवाड़ रिसर्च एंड रेफरल हॉस्पिटल के वरिष्ठ चिकित्सक डॉ. आर. के. गुप्ता रहे। उन्होंने स्मोकिंग और तंबाकू के अन्य रूपों से होने वाले नुकसान पर विस्तार से जानकारी दी। डॉ. गुप्ता ने डॉक्टरों द्वारा नशा छुड़वाने के लिए अपनाई जाने वाली 5A’s रणनीति (Ask, Advise, Assess, Assist, Arrange) के बारे में बताया और बताया कि कैसे इन उपायों से मरीजों को नशा छोड़ने में सहायता मिलती है।
उन्होंने सरकार से मांग की कि तंबाकू उत्पादों की मार्केटिंग पर पूर्ण प्रतिबंध लगाया जाए, उन पर भारी टैक्स लगाया जाए और चेतावनियों को बड़े और स्पष्ट अक्षरों में लिखा जाए, ताकि जनता पर प्रभाव पड़े। उन्होंने तंबाकू की लत को बढ़ाने वाले प्रेरक कारकों जैसे तनाव, सामाजिक दबाव, और आसान उपलब्धता से बचने की सलाह दी।
कार्यक्रम के दौरान मारवाड़ रिसर्च एंड रेफरल अस्पताल, अमर सिंह पुरा की ओर से एक निःशुल्क बीपी और शुगर जांच शिविर भी आयोजित किया गया, जिसमें डॉ. अरिहंत बैद और उनकी टीम ने अपनी सेवाएं दीं।
महिला प्रकोष्ठ प्रभारी डॉ. विजय श्री के नेतृत्व में एक जन-जागरूकता रैली निकाली गई, जिसमें महिलाएं, पुरुष, बच्चे और युवा तंबाकू विरोधी स्लोगन की पट्टियां लेकर शामिल हुए। रैली में भाग लेने वालों ने दुकानदारों से सिगरेट और तंबाकू न बेचने की अपील की।
श्री सुशील बंसल, अध्यक्ष, अग्रवाल समाज चेतना समिति, ने उपस्थितजनों को तंबाकू सेवन नहीं करने तथा दूसरों को भी इसके लिए प्रेरित करने की शपथ दिलाई। उन्होंने रैली को हरी झंडी दिखाकर रवाना किया।
रैली का नेतृत्व श्री श्याम गुप्ता और श्री मनीष चौधरी ने किया। श्रीमती निशा अग्रवाल और श्रीमती कीर्ति बंसल ने विभिन्न स्कूलों और कॉलेजों में जाकर विद्यार्थियों को ऑनलाइन e-शपथ दिलवाई, जिसके बाद उन्हें प्रमाणपत्र भी वितरित किए गए। इस कार्य में डॉ. साधना भंडारी और डॉ. रेनू बंसल का विशेष योगदान रहा।
कार्यक्रम में डॉ. आर. के. गुप्ता, डॉ. अरिहंत बैद, अखिल भारतीय महासम्मेलन बीकानेर जिला इकाई के उपाध्यक्ष श्री विनोद गोयल और महामंत्री श्रीमती सुमन जैन को शॉल और स्मृति चिन्ह भेंट कर सम्मानित किया गया।
इस आयोजन में संतोष गुप्ता, विनय अग्रवाल, हर्ष अग्रवाल, कनुप्रिया गुप्ता, सुरभि अग्रवाल, स्मिता अग्रवाल, सीमा गुप्ता और शालू अग्रवाल सहित कई गणमान्य लोगों का सहयोग रहा।
कार्यक्रम में जागरूकता के साथ-साथ समाज को तंबाकू और नशे की बुराइयों से बचाने का संकल्प दोहराया गया। यह आयोजन बीकानेर को तंबाकू मुक्त बनाने की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम साबित हुआ।
