In a major breakthrough against cross-border narcotics trafficking, Sri Ganganagar Police have busted a sophisticated heroin smuggling network with direct links to Pakistan, seizing nearly one kilogram of high-grade heroin valued at approximately ₹5 crore. The operation, carried out under the strategic supervision of Sri Ganganagar Superintendent of Police Dr Amrita Duhan, led to the arrest of two key smugglers — Alam Khan, a resident of Gaurisar, Chhattargarh, and Shabbir Ali, resident of Bhutto Ka Bas in Bikaner district. The heroin was being trafficked from Amritsar, Punjab, concealed inside a Scorpio SUV, and was intended for onward delivery to handlers operating in Haryana and Punjab.
Scorpio SUV Intercepted, One Kilogram of Pakistan-Origin Heroin Recovered
According to police sources, the heroin consignment was intercepted during a carefully planned operation conducted by Rajiyasar Police Station, led by SHO Kalawati Chaudhary. Acting on precise intelligence inputs, the police team stopped the Scorpio vehicle during its movement from Punjab towards Rajasthan. Upon thorough checking, officers recovered one kilogram of heroin, suspected to be of Pakistan origin, packed in a manner consistent with international narcotics trafficking techniques. Preliminary field testing confirmed the substance as heroin of high purity, indicating its source from across the border.
Alam Khan and Shabbir Ali Identified as Key Couriers in Border-to-Heartland Drug Route
The arrested accused have been identified as Alam Khan of Gaurisar, Chhattargarh, and Shabbir Ali from Bhutto Ka Bas area of Bikaner. Police investigations suggest that both individuals were not end buyers but professional couriers, part of a larger logistics chain operating between the India–Pakistan border villages of Bikaner sector and drug markets in Punjab and Haryana. Their role involved collecting heroin consignments dropped near the international border and transporting them safely to mainland distribution points.
Heroin Sent from Pakistan via Amritsar by Handler Named Imran
During preliminary interrogation, police uncovered that the seized heroin was sent from Pakistan by an individual named Imran, who operates as a cross-border handler coordinating narcotics drops and onward distribution. The consignment was first routed into Amritsar, a known transit hub in Punjab, from where it was handed over to Rajasthan-based carriers for further transport. This method helps traffickers avoid repeated surveillance patterns and reduces the risk of interception near active border fencing zones.
Shift in Smuggling Tactics: From Punjab-Haryana Drone Drops to Bikaner Border Villages
Investigators have highlighted a significant shift in smuggling strategy. Earlier, heroin consignments were directly dropped by drones in Punjab and Haryana border areas. However, with increased BSF vigilance, fencing, drone jammers, and intelligence surveillance, those routes have become highly risky for traffickers. As a result, smugglers have shifted operations southwards to the relatively open stretches of the Bikaner sector, especially Khajuwala and Chhattargarh areas, where international border villages have sparse population and long desert stretches.
Khajuwala–Chhattargarh Border Emerging as New Narcotics Drop Zone
Police sources revealed that Khajuwala and Chhattargarh, located along the India–Pakistan international border in Bikaner district, have increasingly become new narcotics drop zones. Here, Pakistan-based smugglers use drones to drop heroin packets at pre-decided coordinates. Local operatives then retrieve these packets and transport them inland. The accused in this case were allegedly part of this exact mechanism, acting as pickup agents who delivered the drugs to main handlers in Haryana and Punjab in exchange for commission.
Role of BSF Presence in Sri Ganganagar Forcing Smugglers Southward
Security officials noted that Sri Ganganagar sector has seen intensified coordination between BSF, local police, and intelligence agencies, making drone drops nearly impossible. This forced traffickers to exploit comparatively less monitored desert corridors further south. However, increased policing in Bikaner sector is now beginning to choke these alternative routes as well.
Constable Patram’s Intelligence and Field Inputs Proved Crucial
Police have acknowledged the crucial role played by Constable Patram, whose alertness and ground-level intelligence significantly contributed to the success of the operation. His inputs helped narrow down vehicle movement patterns and confirm suspect identities, leading to the timely interception of the Scorpio before the heroin could be dispersed.
Deep Interrogation Underway to Trace Full Network and Pakistan Links
Both arrested accused are currently under intensive interrogation, with investigators focusing on identifying additional couriers, local facilitators, drone operators, safe houses, and financial channels linked to the racket. Police are also examining possible links with other drug seizures in Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana, as well as tracking communication trails that may expose Pakistan-based handlers and funding mechanisms.
A Serious Threat to National Security and Youth Highlighted by Police
Senior officials have underlined that heroin smuggling is not just a criminal issue but a serious national security concern, given its links to Pakistan-based networks and its devastating impact on Indian youth. The Sri Ganganagar seizure is being seen as a major success in disrupting a dangerous cross-border supply chain that feeds addiction, organized crime, and destabilization efforts.
Police Tighten Surveillance Along Bikaner Border After Breakthrough
Following this seizure, surveillance has been further intensified along the Khajuwala–Chhattargarh border belt, with enhanced coordination between BSF, Rajasthan Police, and intelligence agencies. Officials believe that sustained pressure and targeted intelligence-led operations will further expose and dismantle similar smuggling networks operating along the desert frontier.

श्रीगंगानगर में पुलिस ने अंतरराष्ट्रीय ड्रग तस्करी के एक बड़े नेटवर्क का पर्दाफाश करते हुए पाकिस्तान से लाई गई करीब एक किलो हेरोइन, जिसकी अंतरराष्ट्रीय बाजार में कीमत लगभग 5 करोड़ रुपये बताई जा रही है, बरामद की है। यह बड़ी कार्रवाई श्रीगंगानगर पुलिस अधीक्षक डॉ. अमृता दुहन के दिशा-निर्देशन में की गई, जिसमें पुलिस ने तस्करी की एक सुनियोजित और बहुस्तरीय श्रृंखला को तोड़ने में सफलता हासिल की। इस मामले में पुलिस ने छत्तरगढ़ (गौरीसर) निवासी आलम खान और बीकानेर के भुट्टो का बास निवासी शब्बीर अली को गिरफ्तार किया है, जो पंजाब से राजस्थान होते हुए हरियाणा-पंजाब ड्रग नेटवर्क तक हेरोइन पहुंचाने की अहम कड़ी बताए जा रहे हैं।
स्कॉर्पियो गाड़ी में अमृतसर से लाई जा रही थी हेरोइन, राजियासर पुलिस ने घेराबंदी कर पकड़ा
पुलिस के अनुसार यह हेरोइन पंजाब के अमृतसर से स्कॉर्पियो वाहन में भरकर लाई जा रही थी। गुप्त सूचना के आधार पर राजियासर थाना क्षेत्र में घेराबंदी की गई, जहां थाना प्रभारी कलावती चौधरी के नेतृत्व में पुलिस टीम ने संदिग्ध वाहन को रोका और तलाशी ली। तलाशी के दौरान वाहन से एक किलो उच्च गुणवत्ता वाली हेरोइन बरामद हुई। प्राथमिक जांच में यह स्पष्ट हुआ कि यह हेरोइन पाकिस्तान से भेजी गई थी और इसे राजस्थान के रास्ते आगे सप्लाई किया जाना था।
छत्तरगढ़ और बीकानेर के तस्कर बने पंजाब-हरियाणा नेटवर्क के कूरियर
गिरफ्तार आरोपियों आलम खान और शब्बीर अली को लेकर पुलिस का कहना है कि ये दोनों सीधे खरीदार नहीं थे, बल्कि ड्रग तस्करी नेटवर्क के प्रोफेशनल कूरियर के रूप में काम कर रहे थे। इनका काम सीमावर्ती इलाकों से हेरोइन उठाकर उसे सुरक्षित रूप से हरियाणा और पंजाब के मुख्य हैंडलरों तक पहुंचाना था। बदले में इन्हें मोटा कमीशन दिया जाता था। प्रारंभिक पूछताछ में सामने आया है कि दोनों आरोपी पहले भी इस तरह की खेपों को पहुंचाने में शामिल रहे हैं।
पाकिस्तान से इमरान नामक हैंडलर ने भेजी थी हेरोइन, अमृतसर बना ट्रांजिट पॉइंट
जांच में यह भी सामने आया है कि यह हेरोइन पाकिस्तान की तरफ से इमरान नामक व्यक्ति द्वारा भेजी गई थी, जो सीमा पार बैठकर ड्रग तस्करी नेटवर्क को ऑपरेट करता है। पाकिस्तान से यह खेप पहले अमृतसर पहुंचाई गई, जहां से इसे राजस्थान के तस्करों को सौंपा गया। अमृतसर को ट्रांजिट पॉइंट बनाकर तस्कर सुरक्षा एजेंसियों को गुमराह करने की कोशिश कर रहे थे, ताकि बार-बार एक ही रूट पर निगरानी से बचा जा सके।
ड्रोन से गिराई जाने वाली हेरोइन का बदला रूट, पंजाब-हरियाणा से खिसककर बीकानेर बॉर्डर तक पहुंचा नेटवर्क
पुलिस और खुफिया एजेंसियों ने इस मामले में तस्करी के काम करने के नए तरीके को भी उजागर किया है। पहले पाकिस्तान से हेरोइन सीधे ड्रोन के माध्यम से पंजाब और हरियाणा सीमा में गिराई जाती थी, लेकिन वहां अब पूरी तरह फेंसिंग, बीएसएफ की कड़ी निगरानी, ड्रोन रोधी तकनीक और खुफिया तंत्र सक्रिय है। इसी कारण तस्करों ने अपना रूट बदलकर बीकानेर जिले के खाजूवाला और छत्तरगढ़ क्षेत्र को नया अड्डा बना लिया।
खाजूवाला-छत्तरगढ़ सीमा बना नया ड्रग ड्रॉप ज़ोन, पाकिस्तान से ड्रोन के जरिए गिराई जाती है खेप
बीकानेर से सटी भारत-पाक अंतरराष्ट्रीय सीमा के खाजूवाला और छत्तरगढ़ क्षेत्र अपेक्षाकृत सुनसान और लंबे रेगिस्तानी इलाके हैं। पुलिस के अनुसार पाकिस्तान की ओर से ड्रोन के जरिए इन गांवों के आसपास हेरोइन गिराई जाती है। इसके बाद स्थानीय तस्कर इन पैकेटों को उठाकर राजस्थान के भीतर लाते हैं और फिर हरियाणा-पंजाब के मुख्य खरीदारों तक पहुंचा देते हैं। गिरफ्तार आरोपी इसी प्रणाली का हिस्सा थे।
श्रीगंगानगर सेक्टर में BSF की सख्ती ने तस्करों को बदला रास्ता
अधिकारियों का कहना है कि श्रीगंगानगर सेक्टर में बीएसएफ और पुलिस की सक्रियता बेहद ज्यादा है, जिसके कारण वहां ड्रोन से हेरोइन गिराना लगभग असंभव हो गया है। इसी दबाव के चलते तस्करों ने बीकानेर सेक्टर को चुना, लेकिन अब वहां भी सुरक्षा एजेंसियों की पकड़ लगातार मजबूत होती जा रही है।
कांस्टेबल पतराम की सतर्कता से मिली बड़ी सफलता
इस पूरे ऑपरेशन में कांस्टेबल पतराम की भूमिका बेहद अहम रही। उनकी सतर्कता, स्थानीय सूचना तंत्र और संदिग्ध गतिविधियों पर नजर के चलते पुलिस को सटीक इनपुट मिले, जिससे समय रहते इस बड़ी खेप को पकड़ा जा सका। वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों ने उनकी भूमिका की सराहना की है।
आरोपियों से गहन पूछताछ जारी, पाकिस्तान लिंक और पूरे नेटवर्क की तलाश
फिलहाल दोनों आरोपियों से गहन पूछताछ की जा रही है। पुलिस यह पता लगाने में जुटी है कि इस नेटवर्क में और कौन-कौन लोग शामिल हैं, ड्रोन ऑपरेटर्स कौन हैं, पैसे का लेन-देन कैसे होता है और कितनी खेपें पहले सप्लाई की जा चुकी हैं। साथ ही पाकिस्तान में बैठे हैंडलरों और उनके संपर्क सूत्रों तक पहुंचने की कोशिश भी की जा रही है।
ड्रग तस्करी को पुलिस ने बताया राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा से जुड़ा गंभीर खतरा
वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधिकारियों ने स्पष्ट किया है कि हेरोइन तस्करी केवल अपराध नहीं बल्कि राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा से जुड़ा गंभीर खतरा है। पाकिस्तान से आने वाली ड्रग्स न केवल युवाओं को बर्बाद कर रही हैं, बल्कि इनके जरिए आतंकी फंडिंग और संगठित अपराध को भी बढ़ावा मिलता है। श्रीगंगानगर की यह कार्रवाई ऐसे नेटवर्क को तोड़ने की दिशा में एक बड़ी कामयाबी मानी जा रही है।
बीकानेर सीमा पर बढ़ाई गई निगरानी, आने वाले दिनों में और खुलासों की संभावना
इस बड़ी बरामदगी के बाद खाजूवाला-छत्तरगढ़ बॉर्डर बेल्ट में निगरानी और सख्त कर दी गई है। बीएसएफ, पुलिस और खुफिया एजेंसियां मिलकर लगातार ऑपरेशन चला रही हैं। माना जा रहा है कि आने वाले दिनों में और गिरफ्तारियां और बड़े खुलासे हो सकते हैं, जिससे पाकिस्तान से संचालित ड्रग तस्करी नेटवर्क को गहरा झटका लगेगा।
