Air Marshal Jasvir Singh Mann Visits 2 Air Force Selection Board Mysuru, Commends Team for Shaping Future Leadership of the Indian Air Force

In a significant engagement highlighting the Indian Air Force’s commitment to developing future military leaders, Air Marshal Jasvir Singh Mann, AVSM, VM, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C), Southern Air Command, paid his first official visit to the 2 Air Force Selection Board (2 AFSB) at Mysuru. The visit underscored the importance of maintaining the highest standards in the officer selection process and reaffirmed the Indian Air Force’s focus on leadership, professionalism and operational excellence.
During the visit, Air Marshal Jasvir Singh Mann received a comprehensive briefing on the functioning of the Selection Board, its assessment methodology and the rigorous procedures followed to identify and select future officers for the Indian Air Force. Senior officers briefed him on the Board’s role in evaluating candidates through psychological assessments, group testing, leadership exercises, personal interviews and various personality evaluation techniques designed to identify individuals with the qualities required to serve as commissioned officers.
The Air Marshal also interacted with officers, assessors and staff members of the Selection Board, appreciating their dedication, professionalism and unwavering commitment towards maintaining transparency, fairness and excellence in the selection process. He acknowledged that the responsibility of selecting future leaders of the Indian Air Force is both critical and challenging, as these officers will eventually command personnel, operate advanced weapon systems and lead the force in complex operational environments.
Commending the Board’s efforts, Air Marshal Mann emphasised that the strength of the Indian Air Force lies not only in its advanced aircraft and cutting-edge technology but also in the quality of its officers and leadership. He encouraged the personnel to continue upholding the highest standards of integrity, objectivity and professionalism while carrying out one of the most important responsibilities within the organisation.
The visit also provided an opportunity to review the Board’s operational procedures, infrastructure and administrative functioning. Discussions focused on continuously improving the selection process to ensure that only the most capable, motivated and competent candidates are inducted into the officer cadre of the Indian Air Force.

भारतीय वायु सेना के भावी नेतृत्व के निर्माण और अधिकारी चयन प्रणाली को और अधिक मजबूत बनाने की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम के तहत दक्षिणी वायु कमान (Southern Air Command) के एयर ऑफिसर कमांडिंग-इन-चीफ (AOC-in-C) एयर मार्शल जसवीर सिंह मान, AVSM, VM ने मैसूर स्थित 2 एयर फोर्स सेलेक्शन बोर्ड (2 AFSB) का अपना पहला आधिकारिक दौरा किया। यह दौरा भारतीय वायु सेना की उस प्रतिबद्धता को दर्शाता है जिसके तहत भविष्य के अधिकारियों के चयन में पारदर्शिता, निष्पक्षता, नेतृत्व क्षमता और उत्कृष्टता को सर्वोच्च प्राथमिकता दी जाती है।
दौरे के दौरान एयर मार्शल जसवीर सिंह मान को चयन बोर्ड की कार्यप्रणाली, अधिकारी चयन प्रक्रिया तथा विभिन्न मूल्यांकन चरणों के बारे में विस्तृत जानकारी दी गई। वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों ने उन्हें बताया कि चयन प्रक्रिया के दौरान उम्मीदवारों का मनोवैज्ञानिक परीक्षण, ग्रुप टास्क, नेतृत्व क्षमता का मूल्यांकन, व्यक्तिगत साक्षात्कार तथा विभिन्न व्यवहारिक परीक्षणों के माध्यम से उनकी अधिकारी जैसी योग्यताओं (Officer Like Qualities) का गहन आकलन किया जाता है।
एयर मार्शल ने बोर्ड के अधिकारियों, मूल्यांकनकर्ताओं और स्टाफ के साथ विस्तृत बातचीत की तथा भविष्य के भारतीय वायु सेना अधिकारियों के चयन में उनकी प्रतिबद्धता, निष्पक्षता और पेशेवर कार्यशैली की सराहना की। उन्होंने कहा कि भारतीय वायु सेना के भविष्य की सफलता केवल आधुनिक लड़ाकू विमानों, अत्याधुनिक हथियार प्रणालियों और तकनीक पर निर्भर नहीं करती, बल्कि उन सक्षम अधिकारियों पर भी निर्भर करती है जिनका चयन इस प्रकार की संस्थाएं करती हैं।
उन्होंने कहा कि चयन बोर्ड का प्रत्येक निर्णय भारतीय वायु सेना के भविष्य को आकार देता है। आज जिन युवा अभ्यर्थियों का चयन किया जा रहा है, वही आने वाले वर्षों में स्क्वाड्रनों का नेतृत्व करेंगे, आधुनिक लड़ाकू विमानों का संचालन करेंगे, सैन्य अभियानों का नेतृत्व करेंगे और देश की वायु सुरक्षा की जिम्मेदारी संभालेंगे। इसलिए चयन प्रक्रिया में उच्चतम स्तर की निष्पक्षता, पारदर्शिता और पेशेवर मानकों को बनाए रखना अत्यंत आवश्यक है।
दौरे के दौरान एयर मार्शल मान ने चयन बोर्ड की प्रशासनिक व्यवस्था, बुनियादी ढांचे तथा कार्य प्रणाली की भी समीक्षा की। इस अवसर पर चयन प्रक्रिया को और अधिक प्रभावी, आधुनिक एवं वैज्ञानिक बनाने के विभिन्न पहलुओं पर चर्चा की गई, ताकि भारतीय वायु सेना को भविष्य में सर्वश्रेष्ठ नेतृत्व उपलब्ध कराया जा सके।
मैसूर स्थित 2 एयर फोर्स सेलेक्शन बोर्ड भारतीय वायु सेना की प्रमुख चयन संस्थाओं में से एक है, जहां देशभर से आने वाले अभ्यर्थियों की नेतृत्व क्षमता, निर्णय लेने की योग्यता, मानसिक दृढ़ता, टीम भावना, संचार कौशल और सैन्य अधिकारी बनने के लिए आवश्यक गुणों का बहुआयामी मूल्यांकन किया जाता है। यह संस्था भारतीय वायु सेना के भविष्य के नेतृत्व की मजबूत नींव तैयार करने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाती है।
