New Delhi, September 1, 2026: Air Marshal KAA Sanjeeb, AVSM, VSM has assumed charge as the Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance (AOM) of the Indian Air Force on September 1, 2026. The senior appointment places him at the helm of one of the IAF’s most critical technical and maintenance portfolios, responsible for sustaining the serviceability, reliability and operational readiness of the Air Force’s aircraft and associated systems.
Soon after assuming charge, Air Marshal Sanjeeb paid tribute to India’s fallen soldiers by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial in New Delhi, honouring the personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
Three Decades of Aeronautical Engineering Experience
Air Marshal KAA Sanjeeb was commissioned into the Indian Air Force on September 3, 1988, in the Aeronautical Engineering (Mechanical) Branch. During a career spanning more than three decades, he has accumulated extensive experience in aircraft engineering, maintenance, flight safety, systems management and operationalisation of specialised aviation platforms.
His field experience includes the IL-76 transport aircraft, Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) and Boeing 737-200. His career has therefore covered some of the IAF’s most demanding aviation platforms and technical environments.
Key Role in Induction of IL-78 Flight Refuelling Capability
A significant milestone in Air Marshal Sanjeeb’s career came in 2003, when he served as the Lead Engineer and Team Leader of the Air Headquarters Project Management Team responsible for the induction of the first IL-78 Flight Refueller Aircraft (FRA) into the Indian Air Force.
