Beijing Showcases Full Military Might on Victory Day Parade: A Grand Display of Power Politics

China turned the global spotlight on itself as it staged one of the largest military parades in recent memory, marking Victory Day with a display of firepower and national pride in the heart of Beijing. In front of the world’s cameras and a carefully curated audience of dignitaries, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) rolled out an array of cutting-edge weaponry, precision formations, and new-generation systems, sending an unmistakable message of strength to both allies and adversaries alike.
Held at the historic Tiananmen Square, the parade was attended by top Chinese leadership, including President Xi Jinping, who donned a traditional Mao-style suit and reviewed troops from an open-top vehicle, echoing past parades that have sought to blend China’s revolutionary past with its 21st-century ambitions.
A Parade of Military Innovations
The event showcased China’s newest advancements in missile technology, naval hardware, and aerial combat platforms. The centrepiece was the display of hypersonic glide vehicles, nuclear-capable missiles such as the DF-41 intercontinental ballistic missile, and swarms of unmanned combat drones – systems designed to underline China’s growing confidence in achieving military-technological parity with the United States.
The PLA Air Force stunned spectators with an aerial formation of J-20 stealth fighters, while new-generation H-20 bombers made a rare appearance, symbolizing Beijing’s drive toward long-range power projection. Naval strength was equally represented through models and mobile platforms reflecting China’s aircraft carrier ambitions and blue-water fleet expansion.
World Leaders in Attendance
The parade drew leaders from across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and parts of Europe, reflecting Beijing’s efforts to showcase its soft power alongside its military rise. Notably, Russian officials shared the dais, symbolizing the deepening Moscow-Beijing strategic embrace amid heightened tensions with the West.
Leaders from Central Asian republics, several African nations, and allies tied to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) were also present, reinforcing China’s claim of forging an alternative international order. The conspicuous absence of Western leaders highlighted the deepening divide between China and the US-led bloc, adding further political undertones to the spectacle.
Message Beyond Borders
The parade was not merely ceremonial. Its choreography was deliberate: the order of weapon systems reflected Beijing’s strategic doctrine of layered deterrence – from conventional strike capabilities to nuclear deterrence and cyber-electronic warfare. Each segment was punctuated by the chants of “Serve the People,” a throwback to Mao-era slogans, linking historical legitimacy with modern ambitions.
International analysts observed that China’s intent was twofold: domestically, to project unity, pride, and modernization of the PLA under Xi Jinping’s leadership; internationally, to demonstrate its capability to challenge American dominance in the Indo-Pacific and beyond.
Indian Lens
For India, the parade is a reminder of the shifting balance of power in Asia. The prominent showcasing of missile systems capable of striking deep into South Asia, combined with China’s growing nexus with Pakistan under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), underscores New Delhi’s concerns about encirclement. Indian defence experts believe that while the spectacle was designed for global optics, the underlying strategic signals were aimed directly at regional powers, particularly India and Japan.
A Carefully Orchestrated Narrative
The Victory Day celebrations, commemorating the end of World War II and China’s resistance against Japan, provided Beijing the historical canvas to weave a story of sacrifice, resilience, and eventual rise. By juxtaposing wartime memory with futuristic weaponry, China sought to project itself as both the guardian of its past and the architect of a new world order.
As fireworks lit up the Beijing skyline at the day’s end, the unspoken message of the parade remained clear: China has arrived as a comprehensive military power, and it expects the world to take notice.

चीन ने विजय दिवस पर राजधानी बीजिंग में भव्य सैन्य परेड आयोजित कर अपनी सम्पूर्ण सैन्य क्षमता का अद्भुत प्रदर्शन किया। तियानआनमेन स्क्वायर पर आयोजित इस परेड ने दुनिया के सामने यह संदेश दिया कि चीन अब न केवल एक आर्थिक शक्ति है बल्कि सैन्य दृष्टि से भी वह किसी से पीछे नहीं है।
राष्ट्रपति शी जिनपिंग ने पारंपरिक माओ स्टाइल सूट पहनकर सैनिकों का निरीक्षण किया और परेड को संबोधित किया। उन्होंने पीपुल्स लिबरेशन आर्मी (PLA) को आधुनिक युग की शक्ति के रूप में प्रस्तुत किया, जबकि परेड की भव्यता ने घरेलू स्तर पर राष्ट्रीय गौरव और अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर शक्ति संतुलन की नई तस्वीर पेश की।
आधुनिक हथियारों की झलक
इस परेड में चीन की नवीनतम मिसाइल तकनीक, नौसैनिक हथियारों और वायु शक्ति का प्रदर्शन किया गया। सबसे अधिक ध्यान आकर्षित किया DF-41 अंतरमहाद्वीपीय परमाणु मिसाइल और हाइपरसोनिक ग्लाइड वाहनों ने, जिन्हें अमेरिका की क्षमताओं की टक्कर माना जा रहा है।

इस परेड में एशिया, अफ्रीका, लैटिन अमेरिका और यूरोप के कई देशों के नेता शामिल हुए। रूसी प्रतिनिधियों की उपस्थिति ने चीन-रूस की बढ़ती नजदीकियों को और मजबूत संकेत दिया। वहीं पश्चिमी देशों की अनुपस्थिति ने मौजूदा वैश्विक ध्रुवीकरण और अमेरिका-चीन प्रतिद्वंद्विता को उजागर किया।
भारत के लिए संकेत
भारत के दृष्टिकोण से यह परेड चिंता का विषय है। चीन ने ऐसे मिसाइल और प्रणालियों का प्रदर्शन किया, जिनकी पहुंच दक्षिण एशिया तक है। साथ ही, पाकिस्तान के साथ उसके बढ़ते सामरिक सहयोग और CPEC की पृष्ठभूमि में यह भारत के सुरक्षा परिदृश्य पर गहरी छाप छोड़ता है। भारतीय विश्लेषकों के अनुसार, इस परेड का अप्रत्यक्ष संदेश भारत और जापान जैसे क्षेत्रीय देशों को चुनौती देना था।
ऐतिहासिक विरासत और आधुनिक महत्वाकांक्षा
विजय दिवस का आयोजन चीन के द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध और जापानी आक्रामकता के खिलाफ संघर्ष की याद दिलाता है। लेकिन इस ऐतिहासिक स्मृति को आधुनिक हथियारों के साथ जोड़कर चीन ने यह दिखाने की कोशिश की कि वह अतीत का रक्षक होने के साथ-साथ भविष्य की वैश्विक व्यवस्था का निर्माता भी है।
दिन के अंत में बीजिंग के आसमान पर छाए आतिशबाज़ी के नज़ारे ने इस संदेश को और गहरा कर दिया—चीन अब सम्पूर्ण सैन्य शक्ति के रूप में उभर चुका है और वह चाहता है कि दुनिया इसे गंभीरता से स्वीकार करे।
