Bikaner: Janwadi Mahila Samiti’s Bandra Bas Unit Protests Against Unhygienic Conditions, Demands Immediate Action

Residents of Ward No. 26, Sawalakhi ki Talai area, are grappling with severe unhygienic conditions due to stagnant dirty water, overflowing sewage, and open drains, posing a grave health risk to the locals. Expressing their outrage and frustration, the Bandra Bas unit of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) staged a strong protest today, demanding urgent intervention from the district administration.

The protest, led by Dr. Seema Jain, State General Secretary of AIDWA, saw the participation of dozens of women residents, who later submitted a detailed memorandum to the District Collector, highlighting the worsening sanitation crisis in their area.

Sawalakhi Ki Talai Struggles with Dirty Water and Open Drains

The memorandum outlined how overflowing sewage and accumulated dirty water have begun seeping into homes, creating unbearable living conditions for residents. The open drains, clogged with waste, have worsened the situation, turning the entire area into a breeding ground for mosquitoes and increasing the risk of vector-borne diseases.

With the onset of the monsoon, locals fear that the health crisis may spiral out of control if immediate steps are not taken.

Women Warn of Intensifying Agitation

Addressing the gathering, Sharda Siyag, District President of AIDWA, urged the administration to conduct an on-the-ground inspection and implement a concrete, time-bound solution to the problem. She cautioned that if the administration fails to act swiftly, the women of the area will be compelled to launch an indefinite sit-in protest.

District Secretary Farzana, Vice President Urmila Bishnoi, Joint Secretary Ramjani, along with members Jummi Bano, Hazra Bano, and several other women actively participated in the protest, raising slogans against administrative apathy and demanding accountability.

A Plea for Basic Civic Rights

The protestors emphasised that access to clean living conditions is a fundamental right and called upon the municipal authorities and district administration to immediately address:

• Cleaning of drains and sewage lines
• Removal of stagnant dirty water
• Fumigation to control mosquito menace
• Comprehensive sanitation drive in Sawalakhi ki Talai and surrounding areas

The memorandum warned that the worsening conditions could lead to a public health emergency, and demanded that the administration take preemptive steps to avoid such a crisis.

Growing Public Anger Over Administrative Negligence

The incident reflects the growing frustration among Bikaner’s residents regarding the laxity of civic authorities in maintaining basic hygiene and sanitation in the city’s peripheral areas. As monsoon clouds gather, residents of Sawalakhi ki Talai await prompt action, hoping their voices will not fall on deaf ears.

बीकानेर के वार्ड नम्बर 26 सवा लखी की तलाई इलाके में गंदगी, गंदे पानी और खुले नालों की समस्या अब असहनीय स्तर पर पहुंच गई है। इलाके में गंदे पानी का जमावड़ा, ओवरफ्लो होता सीवरेज और बदहाल नाले अब लोगों के घरों तक पहुंचने लगे हैं, जिससे क्षेत्रवासियों का जीवन दूभर हो गया है।

इन्हीं समस्याओं को लेकर आज अखिल भारतीय जनवादी महिला समिति की बांद्रा बास इकाई ने जोरदार प्रदर्शन किया और जिला कलेक्टर को ज्ञापन सौंपते हुए शीघ्र समाधान की मांग की।

गंदा पानी और मच्छरों का आतंक

प्रदर्शनकारियों ने बताया कि इलाके में गंदा पानी जमा होने से रास्तों पर कीचड़ फैल गई है और मच्छरों का प्रकोप भयावह स्थिति में पहुंच चुका है। बीमारी फैलने का खतरा तेजी से बढ़ रहा है। बारिश के मौसम में यह समस्या और गंभीर होने वाली है, जिससे क्षेत्रवासियों की चिंता और बढ़ गई है।

प्रशासन ने नहीं लिया संज्ञान, महिलाएं चेतावनी मोड में

प्रदर्शन का नेतृत्व कर रहीं राज्य महासचिव डॉ. सीमा जैन ने प्रशासन की उदासीनता पर नाराजगी जताते हुए कहा कि क्षेत्र की बदहाली किसी से छिपी नहीं है, फिर भी जिम्मेदार अधिकारी मौन बैठे हैं। यदि जल्द ही साफ-सफाई, नालों की सफाई, सीवरेज व्यवस्था दुरुस्त नहीं की गई तो महिलाएं मजबूरन धरना देने पर उतरेंगी।

जिलाध्यक्ष और अन्य महिला पदाधिकारियों ने दी चेतावनी

प्रदर्शन को संबोधित करते हुए जिलाध्यक्ष शारदा सियाग ने कहा कि प्रशासन को इलाके का दौरा कर हालात का जायजा लेना चाहिए और बिना देरी किए ठोस समाधान करना चाहिए। उन्होंने स्पष्ट शब्दों में कहा कि अगर प्रशासन ने लापरवाही जारी रखी तो जनवादी महिला समिति सड़कों पर उतरने से पीछे नहीं हटेगी।

प्रदर्शन में जिला सचिव फरजाना, उपाध्यक्ष उर्मिला बिश्नोई, संयुक्त सचिव रमजानी, जुम्मी बानो, हाजरा बानो सहित बड़ी संख्या में महिलाओं ने भाग लिया और प्रशासन के खिलाफ नारेबाजी करते हुए अपनी नाराजगी जाहिर की।

साफ-सफाई और स्वास्थ्य के लिए उठी मांगें

ज्ञापन में महिलाओं ने प्रशासन से निम्नलिखित मांगें रखीं:

• वार्ड नम्बर 26 में तत्काल नालों की सफाई की जाए
• गंदे पानी के जमाव को हटाया जाए
• सीवरेज व्यवस्था को दुरुस्त किया जाए
• पूरे क्षेत्र में फॉगिंग और मच्छर नियंत्रण अभियान चलाया जाए
• नियमित रूप से सफाई व्यवस्था सुनिश्चित की जाए

बीकानेर की बढ़ती समस्याओं पर चिंता

बांद्रा बास क्षेत्र की यह समस्या बीकानेर शहर में फैली व्यापक स्वच्छता संकट का ही हिस्सा है, जहां नगर निगम और प्रशासन के ढुलमुल रवैये से शहरवासी परेशान हैं। खासतौर पर बरसात के मौसम में बीकानेर के कई मोहल्लों में गंदगी, जलभराव और बीमारियों का खतरा मंडराता रहता है।

स्थानीय प्रशासन की परीक्षा की घड़ी

अब देखना यह होगा कि जनवादी महिला समिति द्वारा उठाई गई इस आवाज पर प्रशासन कितना गंभीरता से संज्ञान लेता है और समस्याओं का समाधान करता है, या फिर महिलाओं को मजबूरन सड़कों पर उतरकर धरना प्रदर्शन करना पड़ेगा।
