Brahmastra Corps Mountaineering Team Scales Khangchengyao Peak

Showcasing unparalleled resilience and determination, a 12-member mountaineering team from the Brahmastra Corps of the Indian Army successfully scaled the formidable Khangchengyao Peak (6,913m / 22,680ft) on 30th October 2024. The peak, located in the pristine landscapes of Sikkim, is the 4th highest peak in the state and the 10th highest in India, renowned for its challenging terrain and harsh weather conditions.

The expedition, undertaken by the Brahmastra Corps, embodied the spirit of courage, discipline, and teamwork that defines the Indian Army. Braving severe weather, treacherous snowfields, and steep ascents, the team’s triumph reflects their exceptional training and indomitable spirit. This feat not only showcases their mountaineering prowess but also reinforces the Army’s focus on Nation Building through adventurous and inspirational endeavors.

The team was ceremoniously flagged in on 16th November 2024 at the Panagarh Military Station by Lieutenant General Rajeev Puri, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Brahmastra Corps. The GOC commended the team for their exceptional performance under high-altitude extreme conditions, highlighting their technical skills and expertise in mountaineering, the camaraderie and teamwork displayed throughout the expedition, and their contribution to the Indian Army’s legacy of overcoming challenges in the most hostile environments.
