BSF Launches School of Drone Warfare in Tekanpur: Pioneering India’s Drone Commandos for Future Security Challenges

The Border Security Force (BSF) has taken a decisive step into the future of warfare by launching the School of Drone Warfare at its prestigious BSF Academy in Tekanpur, Madhya Pradesh. The institute was formally inaugurated by BSF Director General Shri Daljit Singh Chaudhary on Tuesday, marking a transformative moment in India’s border management and counter-drone capabilities.
This state-of-the-art institution will serve as a specialized training hub for BSF personnel, equipping them with expertise in drone operations, counter-drone strategies, surveillance techniques, and intelligence gathering. It comes at a time when India’s borders face new-age asymmetric threats, with drones increasingly being used for smuggling, reconnaissance, and even cross-border attacks.
A New Era in Border Defence
The School of Drone Warfare aims to shape the next generation of Drone Commandos and Drone Warriors through five specialized courses designed to cover the entire spectrum of UAV deployment and countermeasures. From handling advanced surveillance drones to neutralizing hostile UAVs through electronic warfare, the training modules will prepare BSF to confront evolving threats head-on.
Key highlights of the facility include:
- Modern classrooms and simulators, combined with a live-flying zone for realistic operational training.
- Surveillance and payload integration modules, along with night operations training to sharpen tactical readiness.
- Anti-drone warfare strategies, featuring RF jammers, directed-energy concepts, and kinetic interceptors to neutralize hostile drones.
- Research & Development collaboration with the Police Technology Innovation Centre and Rustamji Institute of Technology (RJIT), focusing on indigenous UAV design, artificial intelligence integration, and adaptive battlefield technologies.
Strengthening India’s Security Grid
The establishment of the Drone Warfare School is part of India’s larger vision to secure its vast borders stretching across varied terrains—from the deserts of Rajasthan and plains of Punjab to the high-altitude frontiers of Jammu and Kashmir and the Northeast.
With drones increasingly becoming the weapon of choice for narco-terror operatives and cross-border infiltrators, BSF’s move is seen as a proactive measure to stay ahead of adversaries. The training will not only strengthen operational response but also add a layer of deterrence, showcasing India’s ability to meet unconventional threats with indigenous solutions.
National Strategic Significance
DG Daljit Singh Chaudhary, while inaugurating the facility, underlined the importance of technological adaptation in modern-day border security. He emphasized that future wars will not be fought solely with tanks or rifles but with networks, sensors, drones, and electronic warfare systems.
He hailed the School of Drone Warfare as a “milestone that transforms BSF from a conventional border guarding force into a technologically empowered frontline defender of the nation.”

Security analysts note that the launch of this facility comes amid growing concerns over the use of drones by hostile actors across the India-Pakistan border in Punjab and Jammu, where weapons and narcotics have been dropped by remotely piloted systems. By empowering its forces with specialized drone capabilities, India is signaling to its adversaries that it is ready to counter any such attempts with precision.
The collaboration with academic institutions like RJIT further indicates that India is serious about developing homegrown UAV technologies, reducing dependency on imports, and integrating artificial intelligence into border management.

बीएसएफ अकादमी टेकनपुर में ‘स्कूल ऑफ़ ड्रोन वारफेयर’ की स्थापना: अब तैयार होंगे भारत के ड्रोन कमांडो

भारत की सीमा सुरक्षा बल (BSF) ने भविष्य की युद्धक चुनौतियों से निपटने के लिए एक ऐतिहासिक कदम उठाया है। टेकनपुर स्थित सीमा सुरक्षा बल अकादमी में मंगलवार को स्कूल ऑफ़ ड्रोन वारफेयर का शुभारंभ हुआ। बीएसएफ महानिदेशक श्री दलजीत सिंह चौधरी ने इस अत्याधुनिक संस्थान का उद्घाटन किया।
यह संस्थान सीमा प्रहरियों को आधुनिक तकनीक से लैस कर, उन्हें ड्रोन कमांडो और ड्रोन वारियर्स के रूप में प्रशिक्षित करेगा। ड्रोन का उपयोग सीमा पार से हथियारों और नशीले पदार्थों की तस्करी, निगरानी और हमलों में तेजी से बढ़ रहा है। ऐसे में यह स्कूल, बीएसएफ को नई सामरिक क्षमताएँ प्रदान करेगा।
नई दिशा में बड़ा कदम
इस संस्थान में 5 विशेष कोर्स चलाए जाएंगे, जिनमें UAV संचालन, एंटी-ड्रोन रणनीतियाँ, निगरानी तकनीक, पेलोड इंटीग्रेशन और नाइट ऑप्स शामिल हैं। प्रशिक्षुओं को न केवल उन्नत ड्रोन संचालन सिखाया जाएगा बल्कि दुश्मन ड्रोन को निष्क्रिय करने के लिए RF जैमर, काइनेटिक इंटरसेप्टर और इलेक्ट्रॉनिक वारफेयर जैसे साधनों का भी प्रशिक्षण दिया जाएगा।
मुख्य सुविधाएँ:
- आधुनिक कक्षाएँ और सिमुलेटर, साथ ही लाइव-फ्लाइंग ज़ोन।
- निगरानी एवं पेलोड इंटीग्रेशन प्रशिक्षण, नाइट ऑप्स क्षमताओं के साथ।
- एंटी-ड्रोन वारफेयर रणनीतियाँ, जिनमें RF जैमर और काइनेटिक इंटरसेप्टर शामिल।
- R&D सहयोग: पुलिस टेक्नोलॉजी इनोवेशन सेंटर और RJIT के साथ मिलकर स्वदेशी UAV और AI आधारित प्रणालियाँ विकसित करना।
सीमाओं की सुरक्षा में बड़ा बदलाव
यह पहल केवल तकनीकी प्रयोग नहीं है, बल्कि भारत की सीमा सुरक्षा व्यवस्था में एक नई परत जोड़ती है। बीएसएफ की जिम्मेदारी पाकिस्तान और बांग्लादेश की लंबी सीमाओं के साथ-साथ राजस्थान के रेगिस्तान, जम्मू-कश्मीर की ऊँचाईयों और पूर्वोत्तर की कठिन भौगोलिक परिस्थितियों में फैली है।
ड्रोन के बढ़ते ख़तरे—चाहे वह हथियारों और नशीले पदार्थों की तस्करी हो या खुफिया निगरानी—को देखते हुए यह कदम बेहद अहम माना जा रहा है।
राष्ट्रीय महत्व
महानिदेशक दलजीत सिंह चौधरी ने उद्घाटन समारोह में कहा कि “भविष्य के युद्ध केवल बंदूकों और टैंकों से नहीं, बल्कि नेटवर्क, सेंसर, ड्रोन और इलेक्ट्रॉनिक सिस्टम से लड़े जाएंगे।” उन्होंने इस संस्थान को बीएसएफ की क्षमताओं में “ऐतिहासिक परिवर्तनकारी कदम” बताया।
व्यापक संदेश
इस स्कूल का उद्घाटन उस समय हुआ है जब पंजाब और जम्मू में पाकिस्तान की ओर से ड्रोन के माध्यम से हथियार और नशीले पदार्थ गिराए जाने की घटनाएँ बढ़ रही हैं। ऐसे में भारत का यह कदम स्पष्ट संदेश देता है कि उसकी सीमा सुरक्षा अब आधुनिक तकनीक से लैस है और किसी भी चुनौती का जवाब देने के लिए तैयार है।
RJIT के साथ सहयोग, स्वदेशी ड्रोन और AI तकनीक के विकास में आत्मनिर्भरता को भी बढ़ावा देगा।
अब जब पहला बैच ड्रोन कमांडो का प्रशिक्षण शुरू करेगा, तो टेकनपुर की सरज़मीं भारत की नई सुरक्षा रणनीति का केंद्र बन जाएगी।
