Lucknow: Lieutenant General Sanjay Mitra, AVSM has assumed the appointment of General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Central Command, marking the beginning of a new phase for the Indian Army’s Surya Command. On assuming command, the Army Commander outlined his commitment towards maintaining the highest standards of operational readiness, strengthening strategic responsiveness and enhancing multi-domain capabilities across the theatre.
Solemn Tribute to Fallen Heroes at Smritika War Memorial
Soon after taking charge, Lieutenant General Sanjay Mitra paid solemn homage to the Bravehearts at the Smritika War Memorial, Lucknow Military Station, honouring the courage, dedication and supreme sacrifice of soldiers who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. The tribute reflected the Indian Army’s enduring tradition of remembering its fallen personnel and drawing inspiration from their sacrifice as the force continues to discharge its operational responsibilities.
Guard of Honour Marks Beginning of New Tenure
Following the solemn tribute at the war memorial, Lieutenant General Sanjay Mitra reviewed the Guard of Honour during a ceremonial parade at Lucknow Military Station. The ceremonial proceedings formally marked the commencement of his tenure at the helm of Surya Command. The Guard of Honour reflected the discipline, professionalism and military traditions that remain central to the functioning of the Indian Army.
Focus on Operational Readiness and Multi-Domain Capabilities
As the new Army Commander of Central Command, Lieutenant General Sanjay Mitra reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining the highest levels of operational preparedness across the theatre. He emphasised the need to enhance strategic responsiveness and strengthen multi-domain capabilities, reflecting the evolving nature of modern warfare in which land, air, cyber, space, information and other operational domains increasingly require integrated planning and coordinated responses.
Soldier-Centric Approach and Welfare of Personnel
Lieutenant General Sanjay Mitra also extended his greetings and best wishes to all ranks of Surya Command, along with Veer Naris, veterans, defence civilian employees and families. He acknowledged their steadfast contribution to the strength and spirit of the Command and reaffirmed his commitment towards their welfare, morale and professional growth. The Army Commander stressed the importance of creating an environment in which personnel and their families remain supported while soldiers continue to pursue professional excellence.

लखनऊ: लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल संजय मित्रा, एवीएसएम ने भारतीय सेना की सेंट्रल कमांड के जनरल ऑफिसर कमांडिंग-इन-चीफ (GOC-in-C) का पदभार संभाल लिया है। इसके साथ ही उन्होंने सूर्य कमांड के नेतृत्व की जिम्मेदारी संभालते हुए कमांड के परिचालन दायित्वों को आगे बढ़ाने की दिशा में अपनी प्राथमिकताएं स्पष्ट कीं। पदभार ग्रहण करने के बाद सेना कमांडर ने थिएटर में सर्वोच्च स्तर की परिचालन तत्परता बनाए रखने, रणनीतिक प्रतिक्रिया क्षमता को और मजबूत करने तथा बहु-क्षेत्रीय सैन्य क्षमताओं को विकसित करने की प्रतिबद्धता दोहराई।
स्मृतिका वॉर मेमोरियल पर वीर जवानों को श्रद्धांजलि
कमान संभालने के तुरंत बाद लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल संजय मित्रा ने लखनऊ मिलिट्री स्टेशन स्थित स्मृतिका वॉर मेमोरियल पर देश के लिए सर्वोच्च बलिदान देने वाले वीर जवानों को भावभीनी श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की। उन्होंने उन बहादुर सैनिकों के साहस, कर्तव्यनिष्ठा और बलिदान को नमन किया, जिन्होंने राष्ट्र की रक्षा करते हुए अपने प्राण न्योछावर किए। स्मृतिका वॉर मेमोरियल पर श्रद्धांजलि भारतीय सेना की उस गौरवशाली परंपरा को भी रेखांकित करती है, जिसमें शहीद सैनिकों के सर्वोच्च बलिदान को हमेशा सम्मान और प्रेरणा के रूप में स्मरण किया जाता है।

स्मृतिका वॉर मेमोरियल पर श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित करने के बाद लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल संजय मित्रा ने लखनऊ मिलिट्री स्टेशन में आयोजित औपचारिक सैन्य परेड के दौरान गार्ड ऑफ ऑनर का निरीक्षण किया। यह समारोह सेंट्रल कमांड के प्रमुख के रूप में उनके नए कार्यकाल की औपचारिक शुरुआत का प्रतीक बना। गार्ड ऑफ ऑनर के दौरान भारतीय सेना की अनुशासन, सैन्य परंपरा और पेशेवर उत्कृष्टता की भावना स्पष्ट रूप से दिखाई दी।
परिचालन तत्परता और मल्टी-डोमेन क्षमताओं पर फोकस
सेंट्रल कमांड की कमान संभालने के बाद लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल संजय मित्रा ने परिचालन तैयारियों के उच्चतम स्तर को बनाए रखने पर जोर दिया। उन्होंने रणनीतिक प्रतिक्रिया क्षमता को मजबूत करने और मल्टी-डोमेन क्षमताओं को और विकसित करने की आवश्यकता पर बल दिया। आधुनिक युद्ध के बदलते स्वरूप में भूमि, वायु, साइबर, अंतरिक्ष और सूचना जैसे विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में समन्वित क्षमताओं का महत्व लगातार बढ़ रहा है। ऐसे में भारतीय सेना की ऑपरेशनल तैयारियों को भविष्य की चुनौतियों के अनुरूप मजबूत बनाए रखना महत्वपूर्ण प्राथमिकता है।
सैनिकों, वीर नारियों, पूर्व सैनिकों और परिवारों के कल्याण पर जोर
सेना कमांडर ने सूर्य कमांड के सभी सैन्यकर्मियों, वीर नारियों, पूर्व सैनिकों, रक्षा नागरिक कर्मचारियों और उनके परिवारों को शुभकामनाएं दीं। उन्होंने कमांड की मजबूती और उसकी कार्यक्षमता में उनके निरंतर योगदान को स्वीकार किया। लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल संजय मित्रा ने सैन्यकर्मियों के कल्याण, मनोबल और पेशेवर विकास के प्रति अपनी प्रतिबद्धता दोहराई। उन्होंने इस बात पर जोर दिया कि सैनिकों के साथ उनके परिवार भी सेना की कार्यक्षमता और मनोबल का महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा हैं।
