In a powerful reaffirmation of India’s ever-evolving air defence capabilities and combat preparedness, Lieutenant General Sumer Ivan D’Cunha, SM, PhD, Director General Army Air Defence (DG AAD) and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Army Air Defence, visited the AAD Regiment of the Carpe Diem Brigade stationed at the Bathinda Military Station.
The visit symbolised the Army’s continuous emphasis on operational readiness, high-standard training, and technological proficiency within the Air Defence formations that protect India’s skies from aerial threats.
A High-Level Visit Focused on Readiness and Professionalism
Lt Gen D’Cunha’s visit came amid ongoing modernization efforts across India’s Air Defence network, reflecting the Army’s commitment to building a robust, layered, and integrated shield against contemporary aerial threats — including drones, UAVs, and precision-guided munitions.
Upon his arrival, the Director General was received by senior officers of the formation and briefed on the regiment’s operational posture, training methodologies, and weapon system readiness. The formation demonstrated its state of preparedness through live equipment displays and operational briefings, showcasing the synergy between men, machines, and mission objectives.
The Carpe Diem Brigade, known for its motto “Seize the Day,” has been at the forefront of operational excellence and rapid response in the western sector. Its Air Defence Regiment plays a critical role in ensuring layered protection for vital assets and formations in the Bathinda region — one of the most strategically significant military stations in northern India.

भारतीय सेना की वायु रक्षा क्षमता और युद्ध तत्परता का एक सशक्त प्रदर्शन शनिवार को देखने को मिला जब लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल सुमेर इवान डी’कुन्हा, एसएम, पीएचडी, जो डायरेक्टर जनरल, आर्मी एयर डिफेंस (DG AAD) एवं कर्नल कमांडेंट, कॉर्प्स ऑफ आर्मी एयर डिफेंस हैं, ने बठिंडा मिलिट्री स्टेशन स्थित कार्पे डियम ब्रिगेड की एएडी रेजिमेंट का दौरा किया।
