DGBR Lt Gen Harpal Singh Reviews BRO’s Strategic Infrastructure Projects, Operational Preparedness During Visit to HQ ADGBR (NW)

In a significant step towards strengthening India’s strategic border infrastructure and enhancing military mobility, Director General Border Roads (DGBR) Lieutenant General Harpal Singh visited the Headquarters of Additional Director General Border Roads (North West) on 6–7 August 2026. The two-day visit focused on reviewing operational preparedness, assessing the progress of critical infrastructure projects, and evaluating the Border Roads Organisation’s (BRO) ongoing efforts to improve connectivity in strategically important regions.
During the visit, Lt Gen Harpal Singh conducted a comprehensive review of ongoing road, bridge, tunnel and infrastructure development projects being executed by BRO under HQ ADGBR (NW). Senior BRO officers briefed the DGBR on project timelines, engineering challenges, logistics management, workforce deployment and measures being taken to accelerate construction despite difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions.
The review also covered the operational readiness of BRO formations responsible for maintaining critical road networks that serve the Indian Armed Forces. Reliable road infrastructure plays a vital role in ensuring rapid troop mobilisation, movement of military equipment, logistics support and humanitarian assistance during emergencies. The DGBR emphasised maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety and timely completion of all strategic projects.
A key highlight of the visit was Lt Gen Harpal Singh’s interaction with Lieutenant General Pushpendra Pal Singh, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command. The meeting reflected the close coordination between the Indian Army and the Border Roads Organisation in strengthening India’s defence infrastructure and improving strategic connectivity across sensitive operational sectors.
Both senior commanders discussed the importance of integrated planning, infrastructure modernisation and seamless coordination to support military operations and enhance operational readiness along India’s western frontier. The interaction reaffirmed the shared commitment of the Indian Army and BRO towards building robust infrastructure capable of meeting present and future security requirements.
The Border Roads Organisation has emerged as one of India’s most important strategic infrastructure agencies, constructing roads, bridges, tunnels, airfields and other critical assets in remote and border regions. Its projects significantly improve connectivity for both the Armed Forces and local civilian populations, contributing to socio-economic development while simultaneously strengthening national security.
Over the years, BRO has played a crucial role in expanding India’s strategic road network, enabling faster deployment of forces and ensuring year-round accessibility to forward locations. The organisation continues to adopt modern construction technologies, advanced engineering practices and innovative solutions to overcome geographical challenges in mountainous and difficult terrain.
Lt Gen Harpal Singh appreciated the dedication and professionalism of BRO personnel working under challenging conditions and encouraged all ranks to maintain the organisation’s tradition of excellence. He reiterated that timely execution of strategic infrastructure projects remains essential for enhancing India’s defence preparedness, supporting national development and fulfilling the BRO’s vision of connecting remote regions through world-class infrastructure.

भारत की सामरिक सीमा अवसंरचना (Strategic Border Infrastructure) को और अधिक मजबूत बनाने तथा सैन्य गतिशीलता (Military Mobility) को बढ़ाने के उद्देश्य से बॉर्डर रोड्स ऑर्गेनाइजेशन (BRO) के महानिदेशक लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल हरपाल सिंह ने 6–7 अगस्त 2026 को मुख्यालय अतिरिक्त महानिदेशक सीमा सड़क (ADGBR–North West) का दो दिवसीय दौरा किया। इस दौरान उन्होंने संगठन की परिचालन तैयारियों (Operational Preparedness), विभिन्न रणनीतिक सड़क एवं अवसंरचना परियोजनाओं की प्रगति तथा भविष्य की कार्ययोजना की विस्तृत समीक्षा की।
दौरे के दौरान वरिष्ठ BRO अधिकारियों ने डीजीबीआर को उत्तर-पश्चिम क्षेत्र में चल रही महत्वपूर्ण सड़क, पुल, सुरंग एवं अन्य सामरिक अवसंरचना परियोजनाओं की विस्तृत जानकारी दी। उन्हें निर्माण कार्यों की वर्तमान स्थिति, निर्धारित समयसीमा, कठिन भौगोलिक परिस्थितियों में कार्य निष्पादन, आधुनिक इंजीनियरिंग तकनीकों के उपयोग तथा परियोजनाओं को समय पर पूरा करने के लिए किए जा रहे प्रयासों से अवगत कराया गया।
लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल हरपाल सिंह ने सीमा क्षेत्रों में सेना की परिचालन आवश्यकताओं को ध्यान में रखते हुए BRO की तैयारियों की समीक्षा की। उन्होंने कहा कि मजबूत एवं विश्वसनीय सड़क नेटवर्क किसी भी सैन्य अभियान की सफलता का आधार होता है, क्योंकि इसके माध्यम से सैनिकों, हथियारों, सैन्य वाहनों तथा आवश्यक रसद की तेज़ और निर्बाध आवाजाही सुनिश्चित होती है। उन्होंने सभी परियोजनाओं में गुणवत्ता, सुरक्षा और समयबद्ध निष्पादन को सर्वोच्च प्राथमिकता देने पर जोर दिया।
इस दौरे का एक महत्वपूर्ण पहलू पश्चिमी कमान के जनरल ऑफिसर कमांडिंग-इन-चीफ लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल पुष्पेंद्र पाल सिंह, AVSM, SM के साथ उनकी मुलाकात रही। दोनों वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों के बीच पश्चिमी क्षेत्र में सामरिक अवसंरचना को और अधिक मजबूत बनाने, सेना एवं BRO के बीच समन्वय बढ़ाने तथा भविष्य की रणनीतिक आवश्यकताओं पर विस्तृत चर्चा हुई।
बैठक के दौरान इस बात पर विशेष बल दिया गया कि आधुनिक सीमा अवसंरचना भारत की राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा का महत्वपूर्ण स्तंभ है। बेहतर सड़क संपर्क, पुलों और अन्य सामरिक निर्माणों से न केवल भारतीय सेना की त्वरित तैनाती क्षमता बढ़ती है, बल्कि आपदा राहत, मानवीय सहायता तथा सीमावर्ती क्षेत्रों के सामाजिक एवं आर्थिक विकास को भी गति मिलती है।
बॉर्डर रोड्स ऑर्गेनाइजेशन पिछले कई दशकों से देश के दुर्गम एवं सीमावर्ती क्षेत्रों में सड़क, पुल, सुरंग, हवाई पट्टी तथा अन्य महत्वपूर्ण अवसंरचना का निर्माण कर रहा है। BRO की परियोजनाएं भारतीय सशस्त्र बलों की परिचालन क्षमता को मजबूत करने के साथ-साथ सीमावर्ती नागरिकों के जीवन स्तर में सुधार लाने और दूरस्थ क्षेत्रों को विकास की मुख्यधारा से जोड़ने में भी महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभा रही हैं।
लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल हरपाल सिंह ने चुनौतीपूर्ण परिस्थितियों में कार्यरत BRO के अधिकारियों एवं कर्मचारियों की प्रतिबद्धता और उत्कृष्ट कार्य की सराहना की। उन्होंने सभी कर्मियों का उत्साहवर्धन करते हुए कहा कि रणनीतिक परियोजनाओं का समय पर और उच्च गुणवत्ता के साथ पूरा होना भारत की रक्षा तैयारियों को नई मजबूती देगा तथा राष्ट्र निर्माण में BRO की भूमिका को और अधिक सशक्त बनाएगा।
अपने दौरे के समापन पर डीजीबीआर ने दोहराया कि BRO भविष्य में भी भारतीय सेना के साथ मिलकर रणनीतिक कनेक्टिविटी, आधुनिक अवसंरचना विकास और राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा को सुदृढ़ करने के अपने मिशन को पूरी प्रतिबद्धता के साथ आगे बढ़ाता रहेगा। “Roads to Prosperity” की अपनी मूल भावना के अनुरूप BRO देश के सीमावर्ती क्षेत्रों को विकास और सुरक्षा की नई दिशा प्रदान करने के लिए निरंतर कार्य करता रहेगा।
