Director General Border Roads Visits Jodhpur to Review Road Construction Works and Badli Accommodation Complex

Jodhpur – Lieutenant General Raghu Srinivasan, PVSM, VSM, Director General Border Roads (DGBR), visited Jodhpur on February 19 and 20, 2025, to assess the progress of ongoing road construction projects undertaken by the 45 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF). His visit also included an inspection of the Badli accommodation complex, which is nearing completion. The visit underscored the Border Roads Organization’s (BRO) commitment to strengthening infrastructure in the Western Sector, aligning with the broader vision of “Nation Building” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat.”

During his visit, Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan emphasized the strategic significance of road networks in Rajasthan and Gujarat, highlighting their dual importance for military operations and civilian use. He stressed the need for expediting the development of these critical roadways to enhance connectivity, facilitate rapid deployment of forces, and improve accessibility for local communities.

Accompanied by Shri Suresh Gupta, Chief Engineer of Project Chetak, the DGBR was briefed by Colonel G S Bajwa, Commander of 45 BRTF, on the operational preparedness of the Task Force. The briefing also provided an overview of the state-of-the-art infrastructure spanning over 15.5 hectares. The new facility includes a well-equipped office complex, accommodation for 200 personnel and 100 families, and essential support amenities.

Highlighting the importance of the Badli accommodation complex, Lt Gen Srinivasan noted that its central location would significantly enhance BRO’s ability to execute road construction projects in border areas. The complex is designed to reduce travel time, increase storage capacities, and provide adequate space for the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment. He asserted that these enhancements would act as a force multiplier, boosting administrative efficiency and operational effectiveness.

Beyond its military significance, the infrastructure at Badli is also expected to contribute to the socio-economic upliftment of the surrounding villages. The improved connectivity and facilities will benefit local residents by creating employment opportunities, fostering trade, and improving access to essential services.

Acknowledging the tireless efforts of BRO personnel, the DGBR commended Project Chetak for its dedication to the organization’s motto, “Connecting Places, Connecting People.” He recognized the unit’s commitment to ensuring last-mile connectivity for remote villages near the International Border, facilitating economic growth and national security.

As a mark of appreciation, Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan awarded the DGBR Commendation Card to two personnel for their exceptional perseverance and dedication in completing assigned tasks ahead of schedule. Their contributions were instrumental in the successful execution of the infrastructure projects under Project Chetak.

On February 20, 2025, Lt Gen Srinivasan interacted with Lieutenant General Mohit Malhotra, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 12 Corps. The discussions focused on the ongoing upgradation of road infrastructure and the future requirements of 12 Corps. Both senior officials underscored the critical role of road networks in enhancing mobility, logistics, and operational preparedness along India’s western frontier.

Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan’s visit reaffirmed the Border Roads Organization’s unwavering commitment to national development and strategic infrastructure expansion. Under his leadership, BRO continues to achieve remarkable milestones, strengthening India’s border regions while fostering growth and connectivity. His presence in Jodhpur underscored the organization’s resolve to push forward with ambitious projects that will further solidify the nation’s defense and economic progress.
