Drone Activity Reported Again Near Barmer, Explosions Heard in Sky: District Tension Resurfaces After Administrative Relaxation
Barmer (Rajasthan), May 12, 2025 — After nearly a week of fragile calm in Rajasthan’s border district of Barmer, fresh sightings of unidentified aerial drones and repeated sounds of explosions in the sky have once again disrupted peace. The incident comes just hours after the district administration had begun withdrawing emergency restrictions, including blackout orders and the closure of educational institutions.
The sudden recurrence of drone activity has reignited fear among residents, especially since the district had only begun returning to normalcy after several days of high alert following cross-border tensions.
Explosions Heard, Drones Sighted: Public Panic Resurfaces
As per local accounts, multiple explosions were heard in the sky around Barmer on Monday afternoon, and civilians in border-adjacent villages reported unidentified drones flying at low altitudes. While no official confirmation has been made about the origin or intent of the drones, security agencies have been put on high alert.
This aerial activity follows a series of prior incidents in April and early May where Pakistani-origin drones were reportedly intercepted or observed near forward defence locations across the India-Pakistan border.
Barmer shares proximity with sensitive areas in Pakistan’s Sindh province, where military and terrorist infrastructure overlaps under the guise of CPEC projects and Chinese deployments — making it a potential target zone.
District Collector Issues Clarification: No Scheduled Blackout, But Emergency Orders May Be Imposed
In response to the renewed aerial threats, the Barmer District Administration and the Civil Defence Authority issued an urgent public advisory. The statement said:
“As per directives from national security agencies, there is no pre-scheduled blackout required from May 12, 2025. However, in the event of an emergency, immediate blackout measures can be imposed without prior notice. The cooperation of the public is essential.”
This comes a day after the District Collector had announced the reopening of schools and colleges from May 13, signalling a hopeful end to the state of heightened alert. However, today’s fresh incidents may result in reconsideration of this decision, depending on the evolving security inputs.
National Security Agencies Monitoring: Civil-Military Coordination Strengthened
Sources in the defence establishment confirmed that surveillance and radar tracking have been intensified along the Barmer-Sindh border region. Indian Air Force and Border Security Force (BSF) units remain on alert, and electronic warfare systems are scanning the skies for hostile UAV activity.
Experts believe these drone incursions could be reconnaissance attempts by enemy forces, potentially probing India’s defensive preparedness. Given the strategic importance of Barmer—where India has critical radar and missile defence infrastructure—any breach could have far-reaching implications.
Public Urged to Stay Calm but Alert
The district administration has appealed to residents to maintain calm and report any unusual aerial sightings, unexplained lights, or explosive sounds to the nearest security outpost or helpline.
As India navigates a sensitive post-ceasefire scenario with Pakistan, such incidents underscore the continuing volatility of border security—especially in Rajasthan’s western theatre.

बाड़मेर (राजस्थान), 12 मई 2025 — राजस्थान के सीमावर्ती जिले बाड़मेर में शांति की कुछ घड़ियों के बाद फिर से अनजान हवाई ड्रोन देखे गए हैं और आकाश में लगातार धमाकों की आवाज़ें सुनी गई हैं। यह घटना ऐसे समय में हुई है जब जिला प्रशासन ने आपातकालीन पाबंदियों को हटाने की प्रक्रिया शुरू ही की थी, जिसमें ब्लैकआउट आदेश और स्कूल-कॉलेज बंदी शामिल थी।
आज दोपहर होते-होते बाड़मेर के ग्रामीण इलाकों से दर्जनों नागरिकों ने आसमान में संदिग्ध उड़ानों और धमाकों की सूचना दी। इसने जिले में एक बार फिर डर और अनिश्चितता का माहौल पैदा कर दिया है।
धमाकों और ड्रोन की खबरों से फिर हिला सीमांत क्षेत्र
स्थानीय निवासियों ने बताया कि कम ऊंचाई पर उड़ते हुए ड्रोन दिखाई दिए, और थोड़ी ही देर बाद आसमान से तीव्र विस्फोटों जैसी आवाजें सुनाई दीं। हालांकि अभी तक किसी आधिकारिक स्रोत ने ड्रोन की पुष्टि नहीं की है, लेकिन राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा एजेंसियों ने अलर्ट मोड पर कार्य करना शुरू कर दिया है।
यह घटनाएं ऐसे समय में हो रही हैं जब भारत-पाक सीमा पर अप्रैल और मई की शुरुआत में कई बार पाकिस्तानी ड्रोन देखे जा चुके हैं, और कुछ को वायुसेना व बीएसएफ द्वारा मार गिराया गया था।
बाड़मेर, पाकिस्तान के सिंध क्षेत्र से सटा है — जहां पर सीपीईसी परियोजनाओं की आड़ में पाकिस्तानी व चीनी सैन्य गतिविधियां सक्रिय रहती हैं, जिससे यह क्षेत्र संवेदनशील बना रहता है।
कलेक्टर ने जारी किया निर्देश: अभी कोई पूर्व निर्धारित ब्लैकआउट नहीं, लेकिन आपात स्थिति में लागू हो सकता है
इस घटनाक्रम के बाद बाड़मेर जिला प्रशासन और नागरिक सुरक्षा विभाग द्वारा एक तात्कालिक आदेश जारी किया गया, जिसमें कहा गया:
“राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा एजेंसियों के निर्देशानुसार 12 मई 2025 से कोई पूर्व निर्धारित ब्लैकआउट आवश्यक नहीं है। हालांकि, किसी भी आपातकालीन स्थिति में तत्काल ब्लैकआउट लागू किया जा सकता है। नागरिकों से सहयोग की अपेक्षा है।”
यह निर्देश उस निर्णय के ठीक बाद आया है जिसमें कलेक्टर कार्यालय ने 13 मई से स्कूल-कॉलेज फिर से खोलने का ऐलान किया था। अब ताज़ा घटनाक्रम को देखते हुए प्रशासन को इस पर पुनर्विचार करना पड़ सकता है।
सेना और एजेंसियां सतर्क, सर्विलांस और इंटरसेप्शन तेज
सेना सूत्रों के अनुसार, आईएएफ और बीएसएफ की टीमें अलर्ट मोड पर हैं। हवाई निगरानी और रडार ट्रैकिंग तेज़ कर दी गई है। संभावित दुश्मन ड्रोन के डिजिटल सिग्नल को ट्रैक करने के लिए इलेक्ट्रॉनिक वॉरफेयर यूनिट्स को भी एक्टिव किया गया है।
विशेषज्ञ मानते हैं कि यह ड्रोन गतिविधि दुश्मन द्वारा रेकी (जासूसी), सिस्टम टेस्टिंग या किसी संभावित घुसपैठ की तैयारी हो सकती है। बाड़मेर, जहां भारत का मिसाइल, रडार और एयर डिफेंस नेटवर्क सक्रिय है, वहां किसी भी प्रकार की सेंध गंभीर खतरा बन सकती है।
जनता से अपील: सतर्क रहें, लेकिन घबराएं नहीं
प्रशासन ने नागरिकों से आग्रह किया है कि वे किसी भी संदिग्ध हवाई गतिविधि, रोशनी या धमाके की सूचना तुरंत नजदीकी सुरक्षा केंद्र या हेल्पलाइन पर दें।
पाकिस्तान के साथ युद्धविराम के बाद भी सीमांत इलाकों में अस्थिरता बनी हुई है, और बाड़मेर जैसी सीमांत ज़मीन पर एक भी चूक भविष्य की किसी बड़ी सुरक्षा चुनौती को जन्म दे सकती है।
